My dog suffers from hot spots on his feet and it makes him just miserable as one heals and another pops up in a different spot. My vet recommended I try a shampoo formulated specifically for hot spots and I found this at a major online retailer. A sixteen ounce bottle ran me about $7 as an add on item which I thought was quite economical since my dog is so small and that one bottle should last me through many, many washes. The formula uses Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Chamomile to calm dry, itchy skin and despite being a bit strong smelling during the bathing process the smell does not linger after drying. After the first bath with this I noticed a definite improvement in my dog's spots and he seemed more relaxed and less prone to lick the sore areas. After a month of weekly baths his spots were gone and they have not reappeared since. He also had a bit of a dandruff problem during the summer as he likes to sit outside and sunbathe which dries out his skin. I am a vet assistant, and I see all kinds of animals coming in with different skin conditions or allergies and always felt so bad for them and their owners….. then I got a dog with allergies and then I found out what it's really like…. it is devastating watching your dog itch and scratch to the point of pulling their hair out, then when the hair is gone… then there goes their skin…. they will make themselves bleed and still won't stop. I tried benadryl I tried EVERYTHING, had to even do skin antibiotics and steroid Injections and still he was itching…. so… the dr tried him on this….. now… first thing I will say is this medication isn't cheap especially for bigger dogs (if you have a 10lbs dog it's not going to be too bad) but my poor dog had to start off taking 2 16mg 2 times a day and it was roughly 300 for the first month, however from there you taper down and after a few months I got him down to half a tablet once daily…. anyway…. this medication worked like a dream for him. He hasn't had any issues for over a year now and although sometimes he scratches its more of a normal itch. This medication literally saved him and my sanity. I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. Unfortunately I dont know what this was for did not take him to a vet. Infected area did resemble pictures of ringworm online. I am so thankful to have found this today! My poor dog could not stop scratching and licking under his front legs, and they were raw and bleeding. He was whimpering but would not stop. This works well—- my cat doesn't try to run away when I use it. He gets dandruff sometimes and a couple wipe downs using this gets rid of it. I also have to wash his ears everyday for his compounded blood pressure meds and I use this on a kitty wipe so I don't have to rub excessively. My male cockapoo had started scratching and biting at his skin about a few months ago , it got so bad to the point where he wouldn’t stop until his skin was completely raw and bleeding and we had to keep a cone on him at all times. We tried using anti itch shampoo, hot spot treatments and none of those had worked so we decided to give this one last thing a chance before taking him to the vet as those treatments can be very expensive and we wanted to see if it was something that we could have treated ourselves first. I bought these and after looking at the reviews, I was excited to see how it works but still not expecting much incase it didn’t work for us. About two weeks in, the itching, scratching and biting completely stopped. I took his cone off and usually within a few minutes a new raw spot would appear but this time that didn’t happen at all. He was completely back to his normal self. He didn’t like the taste at first and spit it out but now he loves them and eats them everyday after a meal. I didn’t purchase them for this reason, but I did notice that since taking these treats, they’ve improved his stool so much. They are now more firm and can hold a shape and it looks so much healthier overall so that’s a big bonus! My dog has been chewing all his fur on his whole back half…everywhere he can reach. I stopped giving apoquel to my dog, not only because of the expense (costing more than $200 a month), but also because of all the reviews I have read about the danger to a dog's immune system with prolonged use. But my large German shepherd continued to scratch and scratch and scratch. After the first application of Skin Tonic Spray for Pets & People, his itching subsided greatly. I have intentionally waited to write a review because I wanted to give enough time to see if the Fidoplex was going to make a difference. I bought this supplement a year ago because my cavalier king charles spaniel had recently experienced two bad episodes with ivdd and she’s only 4 years old. It’s so painful to see your little one suffer like that and the treatment is slow to help, although the laser treatments and steroids did return her to her old self. Not wanting to see her struggle to manage everyday activity, I was ready to try what I could to prevent recurrences. I read about Fidoplex and decided to give it a try. We took our Newfie/Lab to the vet to get vaccinated for a training class. Shortly after his shots, he developed a skin allergy with two hot spots on each hip. The vets thought it was a staph infection and put him on antibiotics & steroids. The issue reappeared after he finished the meds. The other vet thought he had skin allergies & put him on a 2nd round of steroids & antibiotics. That's when we searched online and found Wondercide. The Skin Tonic worked! He stopped licking the two areas and his skin healed. He has a healthy coat of new fur where the bald spots were. Lessons learned: vaccinating our boy caused him to have skin problems.
