My dog went a few days with excessive "goop" from his eyes. Since my dog hasn't had a history with this, and doesn't seem to have seasonal allergies, the vet suggested an antimicrobial for the eye irritation and I went with this ophthalmic gel based on the luck I've had with other Vetericyn products in the past. I started with a tiny drop on the corner of my dog's eye to be sure he wouldn't have any reaction to it. Later that day, I went ahead and applied a few drops in each of his eyes. I applied the gel two times a day for three days in a row and by the fourth day his eyes had stopped having discharge. It is almost like my dog knew the drops would make him feel better as he kept his head very still when I applied the gel to his eyes. The shape of the dispenser where you squeeze the product out of makes it very easy to apply the gel to their eyes. While it is a "gel," it comes out of the dispenser fairly quickly which I find allows for an accurate application. The gel-like substance is great to confirm that you got the gel where you want it to go. Went out one morning and caught a glimpse of what looked like a little scratch on my horses eye. Upon inspection the eye itself was untouched but the eyelid was cut about an inch long from the back corner towards the front. I cleaned it and figured I would just leave it alone. The next morning it was itchy and irritating her and REALLY swollen. Our dog Petal was diagnosed with PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) when she was 5 years old. This disease usually starts in dogs who inherit it when they are between 4 and 6 years old. We were told there was nothing we could do about it and that she would be completely blind in about 1 year, 2 at the very most. We immediately started giving her Ocu-GLO and have given it to her every day since she was diagnosed. Her vision did indeed decline but much much slower than predicted. When she was 10 years old she still had some sight and it's only been in this past year (her 12th) that her vision has gotten drastically worse.. Even still, she's not totally blind. I don't know if Ocu-GLO had anything to do with this, but we felt it was worth trying and we continue to give it to her for overall eye health, including cataracts and possible inflammation from other issues. I recommend it to anyone who has a dog with PRA and would like a shot to preserve their vision for as long as possible.Susan
We have a 6.5 year old Brussels Griffon that has had a run of bad luck! She fell down a set of 3 stairs last October of 2013 and as a result, broke her elbow. After surgery and 3 casts with Dr. Dew an orthopedic surgeon, she is able to walk again. Hello. My son's pit King, stays downstairs with me. Follows me everywhere, sleeps with me, he has been the best companion, and yes he even talks "smack" back to me if he doesn't get his own way. I have been using retaine PM lubricant gel for a few years now at the recommendation of my ophthalmologist. Bought a couple weeks back hoping to help with terrier/chi/corgi mix who accumulates massive amounts of buildup in her fur on the lower part of her eyes. My 11 year old dog's eyes have become "sunken", the lid edges roll in and the lashes make his eyes uncomfortable. After treating an initial infection, I found that a tiny dab of petroleum jelly would help for about 24 hours. That was hard to get into his eye; I was afraid of hurting him with my little tool. My vet recommended Optixcare Ophthalmic Plus. It is a watery gel that I can drip into the eye, much safer to use. For those of you scratching your head wondering why Angel Eyes is no longer working, the news isn't good. I have a Pomapoo and a Bichon and the original wipes worked like a miracle and my four-legged babies had clean eyes always. Then the change happened. The miracle ingredient was removed about three years ago. I have tried many products and nothing works as well for my dogs. I'm glad that some of you still find some various forms of the product to your standards. Currently I use a fragrance free lotion, careful to put just a thin coating on the stain, rubbing it in gently to soften the hard crusty eye secretions and as it softens, gently use a small pet brush or fingers depending what works best for you and your pet. I also make a paste out baking soda and use a childs toothbrush and wash they stains, careful to keep it out of their eyes. Just my two cents. Use at your own discretion. I have been using this on My Maltese for many years, used to have antibiotic in it which I believed was the active ingredient that was working, and you had to get it from the U.S. Due to U.K. laws on this without prescription. The new version easily available in he U.K. is now just as affective and you can see it start to dry up the runny eyes in about 5 days of starting it. Keep using it until has totally dried the eyes and you don't need to keep using it. one level mustard spoon size amount on there dinner or on the tongue. I have been told pink staining is a fungal infection that can spread from eye to the mouth causing the whole face to be pink or black stained. Dasuquin is an updated product from Nutramax. We gave Nutramax Cosequin to old German Shepherd and Australian cattle dogs that have since passed on because it gave them relief from joint pain that was obvious in the improvement in their ability to get up and lie down and run again. I'm giving maintenance doses of Dasuquin to two large dogs we have now that are age 4 and 5yr to extend the life of their joints. The ingredients are similar to human nutritional supplements for older people: Glucosamine, chondroitin, brewers yeast, dextrose, green tea extract, gum resin, lecithin, cellulose, mixed tocopherols, flavoring and soy protein. avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) ….. We haven't used Dasuquin long enough for a long term review so my rating is based on previous experience with Nutramax products. The tablets are 3/4 inch in diameter. My dogs won't eat them as they are so I break them into fourths with my fingers and drop them into their food. The tablets are easy to break. If your dog is getting older I recommend this product along with high quality dog food and fresh water.William

I bought this as the reviews were mostly positive. I have only been giving it to my two dogs for about 3 weeks, one is a 8 year old lab mix and the other is a 6 year old English Mastif. I will need to give it more time before I definitively say it is working. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. So we did the best we could with a dropper to feed and water her and rushed out to get Vetericyn to help stave off the infection which reduced the angry redness to a healthier pinkish. For the very few days we had before we had to go, I was keeping her hydrated and was spraying her face with the Vetericyn regularly (as directed) even as we headed out the door with one last treatment. We did cut our weekend trip short by a day out of concern for her, but when we came back she was doing significantly better in that the swelling was down, but was reddened again. Back to the spray treatment, make sure she got dropper-watered, and by that evening she was gingerly back to parking in her 'askance' spot hoping for bits of our chicken dinner! Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. I have two maltese puppies to which I give Angel's Eyes to help with the tear stains that are characteristic of their breed. At first it seemed to help and the stains cleared out however they are back again and bigger than they were before.
