I am a vet assistant, and I see all kinds of animals coming in with different skin conditions or allergies and always felt so bad for them and their owners….. then I got a dog with allergies and then I found out what it's really like…. it is devastating watching your dog itch and scratch to the point of pulling their hair out, then when the hair is gone… then there goes their skin…. they will make themselves bleed and still won't stop. I tried benadryl I tried EVERYTHING, had to even do skin antibiotics and steroid Injections and still he was itching…. so… the dr tried him on this….. now… first thing I will say is this medication isn't cheap especially for bigger dogs (if you have a 10lbs dog it's not going to be too bad) but my poor dog had to start off taking 2 16mg 2 times a day and it was roughly 300 for the first month, however from there you taper down and after a few months I got him down to half a tablet once daily…. anyway…. this medication worked like a dream for him. He hasn't had any issues for over a year now and although sometimes he scratches its more of a normal itch. This medication literally saved him and my sanity. My standard poodle suffers from outdoor allergies. After battling them all summer the vet just said to double up on benadryl. I felt like I was drugging my dog. I saw an ad for these chews and thought it would be a better option to at least give it a try. My boy wasn't sure about the taste the first day and I had to wrap it in cheese. The second day, and every day since, he's gobbled it right down just like a treat! To test the results I totally stopped the benadryl and only gave him these chews. Wow is right, because I am floored at how well this works! I have 2 pups with horrible allergies – one that nothing else works for. I've tried all different meds, including shots, and she still suffered horribly during allergy season. My dog suffers from hot spots on his feet and it makes him just miserable as one heals and another pops up in a different spot. My vet recommended I try a shampoo formulated specifically for hot spots and I found this at a major online retailer. A sixteen ounce bottle ran me about $7 as an add on item which I thought was quite economical since my dog is so small and that one bottle should last me through many, many washes. The formula uses Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Chamomile to calm dry, itchy skin and despite being a bit strong smelling during the bathing process the smell does not linger after drying. After the first bath with this I noticed a definite improvement in my dog's spots and he seemed more relaxed and less prone to lick the sore areas. After a month of weekly baths his spots were gone and they have not reappeared since. He also had a bit of a dandruff problem during the summer as he likes to sit outside and sunbathe which dries out his skin. Sorry not a review but a question. Sounds like this works well but I have a horrible time keeping my Shepard from licking his wounds. 5he skin soother is a great as described! My pup got an abrasion on the side of her snout. The healing process made it itchy so she'd rub her face on the carpet thus rubbing off the scab and the wound would bleed and we had to start the healing process over. I agree that my dog, a lab hates the flavor and was seeking out the pill and spitting it out until I tried baby food turkey and chicken in the little jars. I use a baby spoon and bury the pill in the meat. She gobbles it up and does even notice even the pill. We do it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. My 12 year old Shiba Inu had 850 liver enzymes. That's so bad and I was so stressed. She has been on this stuff for over 1 year and now her enzymes are about 420. Cocker has “dry eyes and prescribed steroids and cyclosporine twice daily each eye. Suspect his extremely elevated liver enzymes may be due to long term steroid use or could just be his age. Haven’t tested for Cushing’s but sonograms reveal no tumors on liver or pituitary glands. He was lethargic and never feeling well until his doctor advised trying the Denamarin. His Opthalmologist concurred it was a great idea. Haven’t yet tested his liver enzymes again to see if the numbers have improved (hasn’t been on them quite a full month) but I’ve reordered and will receive the pills monthly. Bottom line: he’s a lot more energetic, playing with his toys again, not sleeping all the time, just overall feeling so much better. He’s acting normal again—normal for an 11-plus year-old Cocker. Did a lot of research before giving him the Denamarin and felt they were safe, and most people had positive results using it. Only drawback would be that the pills for large dogs are really big. You’re supposed to administer 1 hr before or 2 hrs after a meal, which I do with a little piece of boiled chicken breast to hide it and help it go down, and it goes down without a problem. Can’t imagine any dog of any size being able to swallow a pill that size without an owner hiding it in a little chunk of something, cheese, pill pocket, treat. Anything to help it go down easier. And helps if they drink a little water. Can’t wait to have his liver enzymes tested again. I’m confident they will have improved. Side note: when one’s liver is not working properly, urine can have an odd and strong odor, which his did. Standing several feet away, I knew something wasn’t right. That too has resolved which makes me believe his liver is on the mend.Yvonne

Sorry not a review but a question. Sounds like this works well but I have a horrible time keeping my Shepard from licking his wounds. Even when I cover them he trys to get the bandage off to get at them. It says this provides some pain relief, so I'm hoping that will discourage the licking. My little chihuahua will not eat her Pet Fresh food with this ground up in the food. I cut the tiny pink pill in half and crushed it into her bowl. She will smell her food and walk away, so this has not worked for her itchy problem. The pills might work for other breeds, but not for me. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. So we did the best we could with a dropper to feed and water her and rushed out to get Vetericyn to help stave off the infection which reduced the angry redness to a healthier pinkish. For the very few days we had before we had to go, I was keeping her hydrated and was spraying her face with the Vetericyn regularly (as directed) even as we headed out the door with one last treatment. We did cut our weekend trip short by a day out of concern for her, but when we came back she was doing significantly better in that the swelling was down, but was reddened again. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. I took it from my cats. One especially has an issue with the eyes. The orange tabby has a wet eye when he eats. He is very picky so I try to hide the powder in his wet food. My dog suddenly got a horrible skin rash and I decided to try these natural chews. First of all, she didn’t like the taste, but she is VERY finicky. Secondly, when I did get her to take them, she wouldn’t take as many as she was supposed to, so they didn’t seem to help her much. I was a little concerned with just how many products they carry all looking the same but yet with a different label. So I contacted the company asking them if they did a third-party independent lab analysis on all of their products and I was happy to hear that they said they did. But then when I asked if those results were available to the public they told me no. Why would you do a third-party independent lab on your products and then not allow the public to request a copy or post them. As with human supplements, animal supplements are not regulated like human products. These companies can get away with putting just about anything they want in a jar and slapping a label on it telling you whatever they want is in the product. I ordered 3 jars of the Allergy Immunity chews and 1 jar of the Allergy Skin Health. dog would not eat the chews. They smell awful and they must have tasted exactly like they smelled because he spit them out every time I gave him a chew. I even tried masking the taste with peanut butter, but he licked the peanut butter off and left the chew. The only way I could get him to eat the chew is if I wrapped it in chicken, and sometimes he would eat the chicken and still spit out the chew. It was so frustrating. I emailed the company and told them the situation. They told me to send back the 2 unopened jars and to donate the open jars or throw them away. After sending back the unopened jars they said that they are only replacing 2 jars even though I purchased 4.
This ordeal has been frustrating.

This medication helps my dog that has severe skin allergies. I know it’s on The pricey side, but it is completely worth it. I keep mine in the refrigerator because when I used to keep it at room temperature it made my dog have diarrhea. my dog has been on this for a few months but buying it through my vet, while convenient was really pricy. Pet Meds is helping us save money on something he likely needs to be on for a long time. His condition is an auto immune called cutaneous histeocytosis and it affected his eyesight by forming lipid deposits on his eyes which rendered our two year old dog virtually blind. My Sunshine has been suffering for years with itchiness and toes swollening and getting infected to the point of puss coming out. She even loss toe nails, she was also loosing hair in patches on the sides and back. We tried everything the vet gave nothing and they even sent us to a specialist that just did this sort of thing. She told us allergies ( dull like we didn't know that). Her solution was cutting off one of my Sunshine toes and send it to be tested. I was like are you crazy. No way. Finally we found someone told us that her allergies causes her toes to get infected from her licking them so much. So, she developed nail bed infection which is one of the hardest things to get rid of on a dogs feet we was told. Well, as you know more meds and creams alittle relief but didn't last. I was researching again come across them meds. I called my vet and told him about it and asked if he would approve it when I ordered it off pet med. He agreed and told me to keep him up to date. She has only been on these 2 months and fur is filling in she's not licking and scratching herself raw. FINALLY!!! SOMETHING HELPED HER TOES. We used this product on our grand dog. He was a scaly, crusty mess and had lost most of his hair. We took him to the vet and put him a regimen of medicated shampoo, oral antibiotics and an immunomodulator. We used the Skin Soother immediately after his daily bath. We also have him the salmon treats daily. I believe this product helped him regain his health. His color came back and all the scales and itching were gone. So I bought another. Even though the regimen is over, we are still bathing him regularly and applying the Skin Soother. That was over a month ago and he continues to look better than ever! My pug had a dark bald spot on his neck from scratching and I was looking for something that would hopefully heal the area and let his hair grow back. I discovered the skin soother and decided to give it a try and this worked like magic! I ordered the 2 oz stick version and loved it. The application was great. It was very easy and clean to apply overall. I applied it to the area twice a day for two weeks before I was able to start seeing results. The hair started growing back and the dark skin was lightening up and becoming less dry and flaky. At the same time, my dog was scratching at it less so that was a plus. Only thing is this stick was practically gone by my second week. It would not have come close to lasting the month. That being said, I had to order another to see continued results but I ordered the larger tin instead. My only issue with this product is the tin is a lot harder to apply. The texture itself is not as soft and smooth as the stick. I also had to use my own hands to spread it on which I did not like at all. It also gets messy in the tin as my pug sheds so there is now hair stuck in the product. My recommendation to the company would be to have the stick in a larger option and I would gladly purchase that. However, currently I greatly regret purchasing two of the tins instead of the smaller sticks. All in all, this product works and I would buy it again! My 22 month old extremely active male yellow Lab, Gus, developed redness and a rash on his belly area while running him 5 miles every day in and around rice fields in Glenn County, located in the Sacramento Valley in Northern California.
