I'm extremely sad to have to write a negative review on this toy. This was our Huskies' favorite toy for years! We had a couple of these balls that quite literally lasted for well-over a year and even then they were never damaged by the dogs, they were only disposed of when they had been outside for a couple years and began to dry rot and crack. The dogs played with them every single day (while supervised, never allowed to just chew on them) and many hours of fetch and playing with them in the kiddy pool, etc. and not one hole was caused. I recommended these Kong balls to everyone, we loved them so much. Fast forward to the last order I placed for these Kong balls, probably around a year ago, the balls did seem a bit more translucent than usual, but I wasn't yet concerned. That is until one ball stopped squeaking within minutes of giving it to the dogs and upon inspection, it had already been punctured and had a slice in it! I thought it had to be a fluke, so I gave them another one (I always order several at a time as we have a large pack of dogs) and the same thing happened within minutes! After about 10 minutes of normal playtime (they are not allowed to lay down and just chew on them), several of the balls already had to be discarded as pieces were easily coming off. I was in disbelief and so disappointed! Well, I made the dogs very sad and didn't order anymore for quite some time, but decided to give them another shot in a recent order as they were on sale. Unfortunately, they have not at all improved since our last experience. The price has also gone up on them, so not only do you pay more, but get a lesser quality product. Our 5 month old poodle ripped the cover on this toy in less than 20 minutes. Kong says that certain dogs need special toys. I disagree in that there has been NO toy that has been destroyed so easy. As others have said, there has been no problem with other similar toys and this one is simply poorly designed. My pit Ruby can kill a tennis ball in a bite and loves too but it makes fetch more of a single throw event. I found this Kong version and it was a winner. Just oversized enough, being more mini football then actual tennis ball, and made with thicker kong materials, she hasnt popped it yet. She wants to rip the Kong logo off so bad but its to well part of the ball so shes slowly defuzzing it in the hopes that it will help (it wont). This is my 3rd Kong ball. My dog Loves the Medium/Large size. Unfortunately, the way they have the sizing, they have medium/large and large/extra large. The lg/extra lg is a bit too big for my 35 lb dog and I ordered it by accident seeing only the word “large.” Once Petco accepts returns in store again, I will be taking it back. I’ve purchased the med/lg size now as well as purchasing one for a friend. Took away one star for that confusing sizing. Easy to see when you’re in the store but when ordering online, too easy to make a mistake that can’t be easily returned.TBDarren

The squeak broke almost immediately, followed by the disc where it is located. I only allow ‘supervised’ use, but it was done and dusted within about half an hour’s playtime (2 x 15 minute sessions). She hasn’t managed to remove the tennis ball yet, so we are still enjoying it and I do believe there is a limit to what I can expect given my dog’s size/breed. She absolutely loves it, so I am happy!Caroline M

I have a 2 yr old German Shepherd, he loves to play ball. He likes balls he can chew (like bubble gum) but doesn’t tear them up. This is his favorite by far. The weight and structure allow me to throw it far and he loves to run and fetch it. It’s also soft enough that he can catch high flies without hurting his mouth. I have an 8 month old 35 lb puppy. She loved this toy as soon as I gave it to her. The size was good. The toy was not too small for her mouth. She managed to destroy the toy and rip it apart within one day. My puppy destroys all toys I give her, but it usually takes about a week. Well… I have a super chewer who destroys everything and this thing is still alive a month after Christmas. That sounds like a good thing, EXCEPT the squeaker on this thing is so LOUD I really want it to die. It is deafening. We literally put it up on a high shelf when anyone is sleeping or on the phone because it is that loud. The dog loves it. It's holding up well. It's cute. But be warned that it is loud.LP
So happy we decided to get this for our new girl. She has destroyed "EVERYTHING" we've tried. She likes to squeak it. Someone said it wasn't too loud. But… we think it is. Maybe our ears are sensitive. We'll deal with it as she loves it. She throws, squeaks, chews it and so far its holding up. Some say not good for chewers. But our girl normally destroys all things we've gotten. Even some KONG things. So the fact this has lasted over 2 weeks is a bonus. Will be buying another one as don't want to have this one disappear & she not have it. All in all very happy with it. Hope this doesn't jinks it lol. I have a 5 yr old pit. She loves chewing on her toys instead of playing with them. If she has a tennis ball she will destroy it within 5 minutes. I bought her the Kong ball and she has not made a dent in it. She sometimes gets mad because she cant destroy it. It is a bit scary to throw in the house though. I would definitely recommend this if you have a busy chewer. Great for putting some treats in the middle to.courtney.h
I absolutely love this toy. My dog is a chewers and teething on top of that. I really liked this because it had multiple uses. Not only could I fill it with peanut butter and keep him entertained for a few hours, but it's also a great ball for playing fetch. Our 5 month old poodle ripped the cover on this toy in less than 20 minutes. Kong says that certain dogs need special toys. I disagree in that there has been NO toy that has been destroyed so easy. As others have said, there has been no problem with other similar toys and this one is simply poorly designed. My pit Ruby can kill a tennis ball in a bite and loves too but it makes fetch more of a single throw event. I found this Kong version and it was a winner. Just oversized enough, being more mini football then actual tennis ball, and made with thicker kong materials, she hasnt popped it yet. She wants to rip the Kong logo off so bad but its to well part of the ball so shes slowly defuzzing it in the hopes that it will help (it wont). I am super happy with this toy. My cocker spaniel loves squeaky toys but always destroys the squeaker part within 5 minutes. She has had this toy for nearly a month and it is all still in one piece! The Squeaker is hidden under the fabric so she can't get her teeth in it, and we haven't had any issue with her pulling the fluff off like others have mentioned. Took less than 10 minutes for my dog to pull the yellow covering off. When I called Kong, they told me, "It's not a chew toy." What, they think dogs hold toys in their paws to play? Beware, most Kong toys are now labelled "Not a chew toy" which means they are not guaranteed against your dog damaging them with his mouth. The "Kong" name means nothing in terms of quality or guarantee anymore. They sent me coupons for what they said the value of the toy was, which was not nearly what the store charged, when we went to use them, we were told that they were not actual coupons, we had to buy the toy, submit the receipt and the "coupons" in to Kong, who would then mail us a rebate. My dogs love these. Not going to lie, when I first purchased these, I didn’t really understand how they worked. I would fill with treats then feel disappointed when it only entertained my dogs 10 minutes. I have since adopted a hyperactive Labrador; while researching ways to calm him down, kongs kept coming up in the blogs. I watched some videos on how to use them for training purposes and have learned how to stuff them in a way that keeps my dogs entertained for a long time. I use a combination of kibble, canned dog food, and other healthy food options, layer it all in the Kong, then freeze. My dogs are stupid excited to see me pull these out of the freezer. I always buy a size larger than I think I need to ensure my dogs don’t choke or get their tongues stuck and that’s worked out great. Very happy with these, we have about 12 of them. Amazing! Amazing at entertainment for my dog. Love how we can stick big treats in there and keep him busy whenever we have to leave the house. I think it's a must for training your dog. Be sure to replace it whenever there is damage. As I know a friend's dog had a piece of Kong stuck in his intestine and had to get surgery to remove it. So best to keep the toy until you notice any wear or tear. I like how it has multiple sizes and has really good durability.. this is a really good investment for your dog! We have found many creative ways to entertain our husky/German shep/malamute mutt who has high energy and high affinity to treats. 10/10 would recommend. There's also some Kong specific treats you can find meant to fit into the toy to make it very difficult for the dog to remove it. We like that there is a lot of creative ways to use it. We had two on rotation for when our puppy was teething and needed a lot of attention. Frozen treats allowed for the pup to work on the kong. We use it at home mainly but we do bring it over to our friends house when our dog is staying the night because we are out of town. It's just another tool they can use if they find he needs to calm down and focus instead of rambunctious and playing.terri.n
My dogs had this for about a year. He’s a 22 lb Italian Greyhound mix who isn’t destructive (the pic attached is him 🥰). I included this information because I can’t vouch for the durability if you have a chewer. The material seems durable though. It does have a rubber smell that is kind of annoying and it takes a long time to go away. If you’re sensitive to smell you might want to avoid this. It seems to smell the most like rubber when you wash it. It’s easy to wash. I use a little bit of dish soap and hot water to wash it after every use. You don’t have to use the Kong spray in this. You can fill it up with whatever treat/food you want.simply.b

My German Shepherd x Malinois LOVES these balls the most. I bought several different styles to trial with her, as she is very fussy when it comes to her toys. She doesn't like the Kong frisbees which are too heavy and don't give her time to fly into the air to catch them – they plop to the ground too quickly, unlike our plastic ones which are brilliant at flying, but wear out more quickly – can't win! But the Kong balls on the other hand, we find are terrific. This is my third time buying these, only because we lost one and she won't let go of the one I bought her last week, so I am hoping that with another one, she'll learn to let go and stop being such a ball hog. She has baby Velociraptor teeth, so her will usually destroy all toys over time (some quicker than others) even though she's not a destructive dog by nature – just in terms of general wear-and-tear from chewing and play, but these balls for some reason, do last (the squeaker in them doesn't though – it's dead in a day, thank goodness, as it does drive me nuts when she's biting on it all day long and it's squeaking the heck out of the house – so that's actually a plus for her human hahaha). I think depending on the dog, you'll find different reviews, but this product is definitely a winner in our household at least and though a bit pricey for what it is, it's still the better option compared to others we've trialed.Jo
This toy is the BEST THING EVER. I didn’t know it squeaked until after we started playing with it and OH BOY we have had loads of fun with it ever since. My dogs love this ball so much that I’m getting another one because they constantly fight over it! It’s a great ball for fetch as well as a great chew toy. I bought one of these (in a size large, not sure if the sizing has anything to do with the issue) about 4 months ago and it has lasted really really well! The only reason I decided to replace it was because for some reason the squeaker stopped working. I think my dog may have punctured a hole in it or something. That being said, I didn't have any issues that these other negative reviews have said happened to them and my dog destroys EVERYTHING. He gets his little mouth on a seam or a defect or anything like that and he goes to town until it is in pieces in minutes. So, like I said the large ball lasted 4 months.. but I just bought him an XL ball and received it today. It's been… about 4 hours now and he has almost completely torn the middle out of the ball!
