I bought this puzzle for my 13 week old Staffy Puppy. She had not used a dog puzzle before but I knew the easier level puzzles wouldn't challenge her enough after I had observed her getting through a lot of other mental stimulation toys with ease. On her first use it took her 30 mins to complete it and the time has reduced considerably after each use. After 2 weeks of use she can now complete it in 10 minutes and I really enjoy watching her move all the pieces to get to her favourite treats. This puzzle is fantastic for mental stimulation and it really tires her out. You can also fit an entire meal of dry food in it so it is a great slow feeder and provides me with some time out. I bought this for the time after our pup got spayed, to keep her occupied during recovery. I love that there are no separate parts to get lost or chewed. The material is very durable and has not gotten scratched even though our dog paws at it quite roughly to turn the middle circle around. When she mastered that, we added the disc back and had to help her a few times and show her how it works till she fully got it as it's much more challenging that way. You can fit quite a bit of dry food in it if you want to serve big part of their meal in it or you can simply put one or two crunchies in each compartment if you want to occupy your dog for a while without overfeeding them. Bought this for my 7 mo Queensland Heeler. Put a few training treats in each hole, covered it with the flap and then put the slide against the flap to make sure he had to do the two motions to get the treats. He had the first flap open in about 15 seconds. The flaps and slides have zero resistance so he didn't have to work to get them open. Hello, my dog does like this; loves it in fact and gets all excited when I get it ready for her before going to work. It is sturdy, well made. The rubber underneath means it grips on a lino floor which is a really good design feature. I do think it's a little pricey – 10 would be reasonable in my view. However for me the problem is it's too easy for my dog. When I first got it, I filled it with treats and gave it to my dog before sitting down to read the instructions. I hadn't even reached the bit that said to' start off with only one hidden treat, and let your dog see it before covering it up' , before my dog had already uncovered and worked out every single hiding place. Took about a minute. Not really what I was intending when I bought it as a way for her to stay entertained when I go out to work. I have two German Shepards. I bought this for them when they were puppies and they loved it. The biggest problem is as they grew their jaws/teeth are strong enough to bite into the wood pieces. I expected this to be a lot more difficult for our 2 month old lab. He got it on the first try. We changed to a large breed puppy food and it doesn't fit as well in the slots, it is better designed for smaller food. Product is very durable, and has 18 slots to put food in. With all that being said, I would still recommend it!koda2016

This is the first puzzle toy I have purchased for my 7 year old dachshund. She is a chow hound and I wanted to make treats and food a more rewarding experience for her. The first time we used this it took her maybe 5 minutes to use, just clocked her on our third use and she has figured it out in about three minutes. As far as the toys features I like that the red capsules lids snap off easily so they aren't just broken when little Winnie decides she wants to pull them off with emphasis. This might give a larger dog a harder time. Her little nose is very efficient at getting in there and flipping up the hidden compartments. A nice experiment but I'll probably try to resell it and upgrade her to something more complicated.Mongrel
My greyhound loved this!! She's clearly smarter than I gave her credit for, she worked it out quite quickly but working it out and physically completing it are two different things, so it still kept her occupied for maybe 10 minutes. Her nose was working in overdrive! I love the number of different compartments as it means there's opportunity to have so many different types of treats to keep them guessing / working for it (I used kibble, liver, training treats and a broken up schmackos all in different compartments). This was the first Nina Ottosson puzzle I've bought and won't be the last.Claire
Mia is a 2 1/2 yr old Peke. She's a funny kind of dog! She doesn't always like things right away. This? She LEFT the fresh bits of turkey from under the plastic bones and grabbed those to play with. She didn't know exactly what she was to do with this! LOL She came back and played around w/it but would NOT eat the treats under the pieces. LOL I let it go a day and about 2 days later LOL she got the drift! NOW BARKS LOUDLY when she sees it up on top of the counter, as if to say "MOMMY THAT'S MINE! I know what to do with it!
