I have a 13 year old Maltese. She was diagnosed with renal problems and I have to inject a liquid solution every two days, then she developed an unrelated heart failure condition, so the liquid was no longer recommended since can add stress to the heart. The problem was that without the liquid and the addition of the heart medication her renal condition would get worst. Her heart doctor recommend Azodyl, she has been on it close to a year now. Her blood test started to change fast, the renal markers are almost normal now. So I do recommend this supplement. It did really work on my doggy. So far so good. My vet offered this as a helpful medication as my cat is both diabetic and just found out is in early stage 2nd stage of kidney disease. This is a helpful probiotic for my cat. The capsules are small. I am able to put it on the back of his tongue, close his mouth, and syringe some water to the side of his mouth to get him to swallow. I was told this medication cannot be crushed or opened. Which was what I was hopeful for. There has been studies showing the affects of opening and adding to food or crushing doesn’t leave any benefits. But, swallowing whole does. Hopefully I can update more in 6months when the next blood panel is run. So I can see if his Bun and creatine level have dropped or slowed since adding this medication. Before even getting her home I pondered the wormers at our local Petco, selected this one. On day 3 the worms came out, though her poor bloated belly was reduced after the first day. Will use this again if worming can't wait for the vet. Due to her weight we did have to weigh out the medicine (half a gram ='s 1/4 teaspoon), and you must have an accurate weight on the dog and an accurate measuring device for it to be as effective as it can be without giving too much. I went with the Safeguard brand because I've been using the livestock version for other animals with success. She ate it fine with cooked chicken/broth mixed into her kibble.Mandy R

I do not usually leave reviews but maybe our story would help someone else find answers for their pet. Our Pyrenees mix has suffered terribly with allergies. He had red staining around his mouth, paws and backside, would shake his head constantly, scratching at his ears, and was licking himself raw. The vet treated his inflamed ears, prescribed drops for them and recommended switching food from beef/chicken/grain to grain-free/lamb. We also tried other supplements and medications. Although the drops help for a day or two, none of these changes brought permanent or lasting relief. At 3 chews 2x/day (he is 100#'s), we are half-way through our first bag of Canine Skin and Allergy Supplement and his behavior has changed from restlessness and constant itching to calm, relaxed, sleeping out in the sun. He has stopped shaking his head and I have not needed to put the steroid drops in his ears for over a week. Adding the supplement was the only thing we changed. My smooth coat collie had hot spots starting on the top part of her back toes last year. I gave her a supplement that seemed to make her lose bladder control. I stopped the supplement and all was good and the hair had grown back by then. Guessing this is a summer seasonal thing now as she got the same hair loss and pink on top of back toes this year. Used same supplement as last year and same loss of bladder control happened so I took her off it right away. She's fine now but still had to deal with the allergy toe hair loss thing. Bought the canine skin and allergy and it works great. Hair is back, no licking and no bladder control loss. She likes the supplements too. For her weight she should get 2 AM and 2 PM but I only give her 1 AM and 1 PM as a maintenance and still working great. My jack Russell liked them too but package says to keep them fresh longer, keep in fridge but that made them hard and he didn't like them as much then. His dosage was half a piece morning and evening. He was scratching a little at beginning of summer and this stuff worked for him with that too. I would definitely store in fridge if you have a little dog because the bag will last awhile and may get moldy. I was putting next days serving in sealed container outside fridge so not so hard for the little dog. My Border Collie, Riata, had a serious reaction to fleas. I treat for fleas often, but the flea load was heavier than usual this year. It was springtime and we had a ton of rain which means a ton of grasses and then a ton of mice. The mice brought the fleas. I thought she was just shedding heavily and then noticed that she was quickly going bald. On her chest and back she started looking greasy too with several small pustules here and there. I bought a medicated shampoo thinking it was some form of fungus or bacteria, but then I started seeing these big fleas while I was bathing her. I immediately gave her a topical flea treatment after her bath. Between the medicated baths and flea treatments she looked a lot better, but 6 months later she still had some flaky skin and slightly greasy chest. This is an excellent product and one which I have been using for some time. One of my dogs, now very senior and afflicted with bladder cancer has various complications associated with the condition. My senior dog ;14 years old, has IVDD since. Sep 2019.She cannot walk.She laid down .cannot move for 2 months.I have given her medicine with hopeless. In Nov.2019 she has starts to stand again. What can I say. These saved the lives of two of my dogs (related) who both suffered from leaky gut (dysbiosis) which had not been recognised by the vets! I bought this product for the intention of helping my puppy prepare for a trip since she historically shown nauseousness when in the car. About 6 months ago, my cat, who has feline leukemia, stopped eating, was constantly vomiting, sleeping, and cringed whenever I touched her. My puppy had an ongoing problem with soft stools. I was getting up 2-3 times per night to let her out, as well as cleaning up several messy accidents throughout the daytime. We have a diabetic Labrador Retriever. It has been a rough 6 months for us. So much upset tummy, throwing up after eating. My 2 year adopted Pit Bull has had bowels issues since I got her at age 10 months. The vet tested her for parasites and every thing that could cause diarrhea. I take care of feral cats and I Trap, Neuter, and Release (TNR) them in order to decrease the cat population in my neighborhood. When spaying a female cat, you have to keep them for at least 4 days for them to appropriately heal and have the affects of the anesthesia to wear off completely. One of the ferals that I trapped was a skin-and-bones female that was really too young to be having the kitten she was towing around with her. So I trapped her and her only surviving female kitten, had them both fixed and proceeded to "Fatten them up" and have them heal completely. "Under the Weather" Ready-Cal was the perfect supplement to give to both mamma and baby while they healed. I kept mamma in my care for one month because she was so pathetically thin. In that month, Mamma's coat changed from a rusty brown to a glossy black. She gained weight to where you could no longer feel her ribs poking through her fur. She did not like indoor life AT ALL and could not be socialized or handled, so she was released back to her outdoor home. I continue to feed Mamma every day, even built her an outdoor heated shelter in my fenced in yard. She is very content now. She now loves people, but cannot be picked up off the ground or lifted, but allows petting and head scratches. I can't say if this works for daily care, but it definitely helps my cats calm down when they get spring ""craziness."" It is especially bad this year; perhaps because feral cats have moved back into the neighborhood, after having been removed about a year ago. Usually, they ""go at it"" once a year or so. This time around, it has been 3 times in 7 weeks. Before, the stress lasted longer, but with longer intervals between. Since the freqeuncy of fights has increased, I decided to try this. These 3 fight times have lasted only 3-5 days, and I think it has everything to do with this remedy. Bach's was OK, but not as immediately effective. My husband and I live with a Great Dane and an English Mastiff. My dog was being swarmed by flies because of all the open wounds she had due to scratching her skin constantly due to a bad rash. I tried several prodcuts but nothing was working. This is an off label use recommended by my vet. My African Grey Parrot has a problem with plucking feather around her neck especially when she is molting. The relief spray applied to that area has provide her with relief an she is no longer pulling the new feathers out.VAL

This works well—- my cat doesn't try to run away when I use it. He gets dandruff sometimes and a couple wipe downs using this gets rid of it. I also have to wash his ears everyday for his compounded blood pressure meds and I use this on a kitty wipe so I don't have to rub excessively. Works better than another brand I tried when I couldn't find this one.SWilliams
