I don’t typically take the time to write reviews, but I am very impressed with the way the order arrived and the quality and style of this jacket. So here it goes: First the package arrived in tissue paper with a hand written note on the invoice. Almost like a special gift for my puppy. I thought that was sweet. Lots of little tester items inside to try (very cool). I like the balm for his paws. We used it after his bath. I can tell that Hiking Dog Company values their customers and their pets! As for the jacket, it is well made. I like that it has velcro instead of snaps or a zipper to fasten. Also I like that the hole in the back is in line with his harness vs some that are more compatible with collar leash. My FAVORITE part about the jacket is that it is long enough to cover his full back when standing. So many are way too short. The hood covers his head, but he’s still able to see. Maybe the only possible improvement would be for it to have a clear plastic stitched around the hood to allow him more visibility. At night (or early morning) I switch from navy to the brighter plaid. Both sides have reflective stripes, but it makes me feel better to use the lighter side when going on walks after dark cuz he’s so dark. Scooter still isn’t thrilled about going outside in the rain, but with his new rain jacket I can get him to do short walks now when it does 🙂Melinda G.
I bought this jacket because my dog is getting too old to frolic in the rain and prefers to stay dry. This jacket fits perfectly. The hood is just the right size to keep rain off her head and neck and not so big that it falls in her face. There is even a perfect patch of Velcro to keep the hood off her head if needed. The jacket has nice stretchy material around the leg holes and belly area to keep a snug fit but free enough for movement. We can wait to test it in the rain!Lindsay B.

I bought two of these jackets for my puppy. One in a small which was too small and then the medium. I’m waiting for my refund on both items before I purchase the small, as my final attempt. Finley measures in the neck 10’’, chest 15” and length 12”. So lets see how the small goes. It’s hard to put on but looks super cute and well made. Also, seems like it will provide the protection, warmth and coverage my puppy needs, without being bulky. Just be sure to wait a long time for the refund if the sizing doesn’t work out. My dog is 31.5 lbs and wearing a size large in the photos. I love that this jacket is so high visibility which is such a big safety feature, especially during darker winter months! I didn't get the jacket for rain; I got it for snow with the hope she'd stay dryer while out winter hiking. It only does OK at keeping her dryer and cleaner. I think this would be the perfect jacket if the neckline was more elastic and snugger. The neckline is a bit baggy which lets moisture down her front side. I agree with another reviewer that the zipper placement underneath is a little awkward but that's truly a minimal complaint. The loose neckline is where I think the most improvement could happen, but maybe it seems baggy because she's in too large of a size? This jacket is made of obviously high quality material that I predict will be durable over time. It is new so my dog has only had a few opportunities to wear so far. I really like the zipper feature on this jacket. The zipper actually goes the entire length of the jacket so you can completely separate the right and left sides which can make donning the jacket a bit easier. That being said, I have found that leaving it just partly zipped was easier for me to put on my dog. It can get tricky to start the zip if the sides are separated and your dog is in a standing position when putting it on (my dog gets excited to see the coat because it means we are going outside!). The color is great. It’s very bright which makes my black dog more visible in the rain.Doggy Mom

This jacket is really well constructed, though due to the nature of the waterproof material doesn't stretch much at all so it's important to accurately measure your dog to ensure the best fit. It isn't super deep in the chest so if you have a broad chested breed like a bully or GSD you may have to size up to get it to fit right. This is a good basic coat. I love that it’s reversible so you’re getting more bang for your buck. It’s easy to put on although sometimes the tags get in the way (they’re in a weird spot).
