I purchased this tray for my 6 month old Chihuahua. She uses it…sometimes but mostly she treats it as a chew toy. Almost immediately she will have the pad ripped to shreds & she has chewed the end tabs that are suppose to hold the tray together off. My suggestion for making this tray more durable would be to make the tabs that hold the tray & liner in place longer & thicker & also not just on the two ends but on the sides as well. I have a 5 yr old dachshund. He is house trained but we like to leave a pad down for him in case we are gone for the entire day or still sleeping. I have hardwood floors and have struggled with keeping the moisture off them because when he would use his pads he always seemed to be on the edge and the urine would go under the pad and be on the floor. I was looking for something to keep the floor dry and this works perfect. It has rubber tips on the bottom to keep it from sliding around. My only complaint is that the snaps that are meant to secure the pad are hard to open and when the pad is dirty it's pretty gross. I ordered this pad holder because my little chihuahua likes to urinate on the edge of the pad and it would always run underneath, leaving a mess to clean up. This holder has almost eliminated that problem. The edges of the pad curl up and spread a little over the edge of the holder which makes the urine flow back onto the pad. I use the Blue Ribbon Deluxe training pads, which are a little larger than the holder and it works out perfectly. The holder holds the pads in place by clamping down on the corners of the the pad.
