Bayer K9 Advantix Ii Large Dog For Sale (2024 Update)

I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

Overall satisfaction level: good. No bad reactions from my chihuahuas. I use a syringe to dispense the correct dose for each size dog so the large size dog package is economical and lasts a good while. It seems to be fast acting but loses potency after a couple of weeks. I seem to recall other products lasting longer, maybe a whole month. Not a big issue since these inside dogs could use a bath every other week any how.bbrb972

I pour these tubes into a tiny glass vial. Then I use a needle-less syringe to draw up a cat-sized dose depending on the cat's weight. I apply it to my cats. I save a lot of money this way. Advantage 2 for dogs has exactly the same ingredients as the flea medicine for cats. (Do NOT do this with other brands of dog treatment. Always check labels first… and learn how much your own cat needs before applying it.) I've used Advantage 2 for many, many years. It has never failed my cats. They simply do not get fleas. I've never had a flea in my house. I treated my neighbor's flea-bitten dog last month. The poor creature was crawling with flea. After Advantage 2, the fleas were gone the next day. This product works great on dogs and cats, says no cats but it is the same ingredients as the dogs, have been using this for years on both. I buy the Large dog size and cut the tops off and pour in a old medicine vial then I use a 3cc syringe to suck it up. Cats I put about 1/2 a cc which is 1/2 of 1 cc . It does does not take much and use about this much on my little dogs too. Larger dogs I use about 2cc and NEVER DO THEY HAVE FLEAS and it last way longer. Advantix I use only on the dogs as this is not to be used on cats but use this when ticks are bad. Great Products to use.blonds05

Found this by chance at the local store. Applicator type flea stuff isn't all that reliable. The eight month collar option is a no no after reading up on it and finding it can cause a dog to go into convulsions. This once a month soft chew though is great. Our dog didn't scratch once. No side effects. Great stuff. It's so good we can hardly find it on the shelves to refill that way so we have to order on-line.Peachn

I bought these chews for a couple years. For my two dogs and then another 3 dogs that belong to my daughters. The dogs love them and they work really really well. I would rattle the jar and they would all come running 1 did the trick for at least 3 or 4 weeks . Within a few hours the fleas seem to be better . You can re administer as needed and I only had to do that I think the first time when I bought them in the fleas were really bad . When Coronavirus came and we had to start social distancing and staying at home I decided to order something off of Amazon. Unfortunately what I ordered didn't work and my house is now infested in fleas they're in my bed and furniture and everywhere. 1 chew seems to do the trick for my pitbull German Shepherd cross 60 pound dogs I will be going back to these.Amy

I bought the advantus yesterday. My babies loved them. I paid $54.99 plus tax $4.54 bringing the grand total to $59.53. Now let's break it down $59.53 divided by 30 days of the month that's a $1.98 per day to protect your baby. I do agree it could have had a lot more stuff to help with the fleas & ticks. Now the reason I said it won't work for me, is because I have 21 babies so instead of buying 1 bottle a month I would be buying 3 1/2 bottles. Now that's serious money, just bathe in dawn dish soap. mist them with a flea and tick spray before they go out to potty your good to go. I gave three stars because I bought it yesterday. I am hesitant to use these types of products compulsively for preventive measures. Fortunately, We’ve not been in an area where fleas are out of control outside, as we have had problems in the past with other pets. These types of topical medicines would only be effective for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 weeks at best. And then our previous dog, and coincidentally our cat also, developed tumors where these types of medicines were being applied. I can’t say for certain that they were the cause. But it’s very suspicious that it happened in both animals. The dog we noticed first. And maybe a year or so later our cat. They both lived to past 11 years. And our dog was also on meds for epilepsy. Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him. His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far. And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month. And in my opinion, it works better than capstar, which is meant as a short acting topical to immediately relieve a flea problem getting out of control. But for whatever reason, this works better for us, even though it might take a few days to really notice results. (I never really noticed immediate results with. Capstar. It helped make the problem not get any worse. But it didn’t solve the problem either.)shelly.c

I absolutely loved this for my fur babies! What I DID NOT love was that like this past year, flea/tick season was so weird! Twice I found LIVE TICKS on me, after loving up on my baby boy, Lizard. (Male black n white cat) He is an indoor/outdoor baby, but I haven't ever had a problem like this until now. Worth mentioning, my female brindle colored cat also had irritation from this year's applications. She has to have prednisone each day, along with a topical treatment, otherwise she's in agony from inflammation and itching! I am NOT stating that it was the fault of this brand. I use advantage on my dogs and cats every month. In a state where fleas are inevitable because of the heat, this product has been my saving grace. When you are treating your animal for the first time it's important to read the directions. An infestation should be treated 2 weeks later, then monthly after. It's also important to treat your home and/or yard to help prevent eggs that have already been laid from hatching. Furthermore, the weight of your animal should be known to use the correct amount. Too little will not give the correct protection. Lastly, skipping monthly treatments will be vital to constant protection so it's extremely important to treat monthly. Recommended by our vet to combat the Highland ticks, as well as for fleas, this product is very effective. For the most part, ticks are put off before they bite and those that do latch on are quickly killed and drop off again. No fleas either. Have some difficulty getting through the dogs' dense undercoat to find enough skin to apply the liquid, but that is the same for all spot-on products. Only real drawback is that it shouldn't be used in households with a cat – fortunately we are between cats at the minute.Donna Y

Although I needed to get and pay for a prescription from my vet, having tried Advantix for my dog, and Irish Setter, before I knew just how effective it is but wanted to pay less for it than my vet charges. The cost of the prescription can be defrayed over the three orders that I can make on one prescription so I get a very effective treatment at a significantly reduced cost overall. Untreated my dog picks up ticks readily especially when in bracken, heather and general moorland environments, but Advantix provides tick effective repellence as well as treatment for fleas etc.Robert S

This product has always been my go to Flea & Tick choice. It has always worked wonderfully for me. But this year, I dont know what happened but it is just not working for me anymore. Days and into a week after application even, the dogs are still itching and chewing on themselves…this stuff is not cheap, especially when you have multiple dogs.I have bought it twice this year already and neither time has it worked. I know there are other products that say they work and are a lot less expensive but I've been using K9 Advantix II for years and I plan on using it as long as I have dogs! We lived in the city and never found a flea on the dogs after using Advatix. Not on the dogs, in the house, or in the yard. Now we live in the country and there are a LOT of ticks… but none on the dogs. The couple that actually attach per year are dead when we find them. We have 5 dogs from chihuahua to a 100 lb Great Pyrenees mix and it works from tiny to extra large. We have a dog door and the dogs have the run of the house, the pasture and the woods so the dogs are exposed to ticks every day. The only issue I've had that I wish I didn't was the application spots are itchy the first couple days on all the dogs. But with protection like this a couple of days of irritated spots each month far outweigh years of being a flea/tick taxi!Country L

I ordered a flea and tick chewable and you sent me this, which are liquid vials you put on your dogs neck. I don't like this type of product and it isn't a comparable replacement product. Not acceptable.Pamela B

This works well. It is non greasy and doesn't have a funky smell like some other topical flea meds. The problem with topical is that sometimes they stop working . Therefore you switch to the other brand . But so far I have not had to switch. It definitely works well and recommend to many people.deb.n

I bought this one day on the recommendation of the pet store clerk. What I liked is that it was easy to apply, and it work quickly and efficiently , neither of my dogs had any type of negative side effects, there was no redness or scaliness or itchiness at the point of the application, and less than 36 hours all fleas were sufficiently gone. I bought this one day on the recommendation of the pet store clerk. What I liked is that it was easy to apply, and it work quickly and efficiently , neither of my dogs had any type of negative side effects, there was no redness or scaliness or itchiness at the point of the application, and less than 36 hours all fleas were sufficiently gone. I did do the reapplication Nearly one week early. Only because it was in the thick of flea season and my neighborhood is filled with stray/feral kitty cats.fran.c

you always want to protect your fur babies from fleas so I decided to try this (I've tried several other as well and nothing has worked) it spreads through the hair even though you part it and put on scalp (its a mess) the fleas never went away even after several treatments. I clean bedding floors almost daily with rid flea spray (which actually helps the most). I won't be buying this application again and donated the rest to the shelterLisa AG

This works well. It is non greasy and doesn't have a funky smell like some other topical flea meds. The problem with topical is that sometimes they stop working . Therefore you switch to the other brand . But so far I have not had to switch. It definitely works well and recommend to many people.deb.n

I am hesitant to use these types of products compulsively for preventive measures. Fortunately, We’ve not been in an area where fleas are out of control outside, as we have had problems in the past with other pets. These types of topical medicines would only be effective for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 weeks at best. And then our previous dog, and coincidentally our cat also, developed tumors where these types of medicines were being applied. I can’t say for certain that they were the cause. But it’s very suspicious that it happened in both animals. The dog we noticed first. And maybe a year or so later our cat. They both lived to past 11 years. And our dog was also on meds for epilepsy. Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him. His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far. And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month. And in my opinion, it works better than capstar, which is meant as a short acting topical to immediately relieve a flea problem getting out of control. But for whatever reason, this works better for us, even though it might take a few days to really notice results. (I never really noticed immediate results with. Capstar. It's affordable and better than similarly priced other topical products. I prefer an oral product but not all will eat it, so I use this for those animals. Lasts about 2 weeks only. Gets rid of about 80% of the fleas.randi s

I absolutely loved this for my fur babies! What I DID NOT love was that like this past year, flea/tick season was so weird! Twice I found LIVE TICKS on me, after loving up on my baby boy, Lizard. (Male black n white cat) He is an indoor/outdoor baby, but I haven't ever had a problem like this until now. Worth mentioning, my female brindle colored cat also had irritation from this year's applications. She has to have prednisone each day, along with a topical treatment, otherwise she's in agony from inflammation and itching! I am NOT stating that it was the fault of this brand. I have no proof of that. I just wanted to make others aware that these things happened after the dosing though.pamela.g

Don't really know what changes was done to the formula . But Advantage 2 works no where near as good as it as the original formula . My cat(s) for years have always been an inside cat & used it for years with great success. I recently adopted a cat & started using Adtg.2. A week to a week & a half is about tops before you start to see your cat start scratching again. Not good especially for what they charge for the stuff. Another example of "don't fix it if it ain't broke". But I guess the all mighty dollar took care of that. Next time I take my cat to the vet I'll ask about other options. I have been using this product on my dog since I adopted her at 4 mos. There were 2 months, when I moved to a new state and was unable to find this product locally (*and hadn't heard of 1800petmeds yet) when I used 2 other products – my dog had a serious skin sensitivity to one, and the other gave her diarrhea for almost the entire month. I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. So I'm not sure exactly what's going on but the package I received appeared to be authentic. All serial numbers matched and packages were sealed well. Never had this happen before but definitely going back to Frontline Plus.kschoern

Absolutely the worst flea control ! Not only did it not work but now I have a cat that may be on seizure medication for life ! Horrible is not even strong enuff words to describe this so called flea control I followed and did everything as directed,with absolutely no results! All I got out of this is a cat that was healthy the day I put this on her is now on seizure medication ! My suggestion is consulting a veterinarian for help with a flea problem ,I know I will definitely from this point forward!!!!Sherry Harding

I normally use Frontline Plus but I couldn't find it at the store and I reviewed this product compared to Frontline. The packaging said that it is just as good the only difference was Frontline was more available. Well, I put this on my dog and he still has fleas I used it for another month and he is worse with fleas this is the worst flea and tick medicine I've ever used. This worked on all 3 dogs for approx. 1 week, we are now @ 19 days and fleas are attacking them all. We've treated and washed bedding, sprayed house and outside. Fleas aren't bothering the humans just the dogs. I had high hopes when I saw it was made by Capstar, but am now so disappointed.Dawna
