This is a perfect addition to our backyard. our pups get thirsty out back when they are playing and though they are welcome to drink inside, it's nice to know they can quench their thirst outside as well. This holds a LOT of water! It's wonderful, has a soft tinkling noise (almost like a fountain), and provides ample water for our two dogs. The water does still need to be changed often outside, even with a filter and all, it can still get gross!Anonymous

We’ve had our fountain for 10+ years. We keep it indoors, and completely clean it once a month. It takes my husband and I about 15 minutes to clean when we work together. Little pieces have broken off, and crusty in places, but it keeps on keeping on. Our bichons and cats love it. The ONLY thing I’d like is the coarse filter to be sold separately.KBichons

Got mine about 4 months ago and initially, I thought all my problems were over. I have two very large dogs and 2 cats. I was hesitant, at first cause it's not stainless steel (plastics harbor bacteria), but I really wanted the really large size, so I got it. Right off the bat, placing the reservoirs into the unit, was a pain in the butt! Water all over the place! Then, I tore it all down to clean it after about a month and the sponge filter inside the bowl had all this slimy gross stuff all over it and inside the sponge holes. It was REALLY gross. BUT, I endured and cleaned it all out. After another month, I tried cleaning it out again, but I just couldn't deal with putting my hands on the sponge, so I threw it away. Now, the pump won't work. Now I have to buy another, smaller, stainless steel fountain for another $100!! With no reservoir!!Another$100

Fountain was very easy to assemble (i watched a video on youtube). It runs silently, with a very pleasing quiet water tinkle. Most importantly, my cat likes to drink from it, and spends a fair bit of time just sopitting nearby, watching it. I really tried to make this fountain work for my needs. I have 3 large dogs that chewed the plastic off of the last fountain, so i was looking for a ceramic fountain that holds a lot of water. The pump is small and weak and there's barely any visible water movement. It's hard to live up the hole in the filter to the hole I'm the upper dish. If not loved up to precision, the top bowl will not fill. The water level most be full or the pump makes noise. Half full us not even enough. P0plcehavens

I purchased this a few months ago for 2 smaller cats and a medium sized dog, and they loveeeee it. It's pretty easy to clean, which is especially good considering the messy dog, and it holds a lot of water. The filters are also pretty cheap and they work great.Steph814

This was great for the first week or two until, even after obsessively cleaning, the water hardly came out of the top to circulate water in the bowl. It definitely reminds me of a toilet bowl that is now just sitting empty on my floor next to a normal water dish. Very disappointed. This is my new favorite “go to” pet fountain! It is esthetically pleasing to look at, effective, and quiet (my favorite feature). I have tried other fountains in the past, but they each seem to have their own setbacks. Some were noisy, others were hard to clean, and a few were intimidating to the animal. The Seascape pet fountain is none of these. Upon opening the box, you will find the fountain well packaged. At first it may seem like a lot of parts, but the instructions are clear, concise, and after you assemble it… you will find that it is very easy. On that same topic, you will find the fountain is easy to clean. It does not have a wealth of hard to get at nooks and crannies that many of the plastic fountains have. Once you get it up and running, you will love the fact that it runs very quiet. The water pumps up through the center of the orb in the middle of the dish, and it runs silently (and evenly) over the orb and down to the reserve in the dish. This will allow your pet, the option to decide on where he/she would like to drink the water. I have one single cat and she took to it right away. The flowing, and shimmering water took interest right away. She tried licking from the bowl, from the flow of water over the orb, and even directly from the hole where the water pumps out from. Her favorite it right from the orb, or sometimes right where the water comes out. She can get at it from any angle and she doesn’t have to reach far to get to her favorite spot. In addition, she never again has to worry about accidentally getting her head under the flow of water like she use to with the fountains that “pour” water into the bowl. Many pet fountains focus on functionality and ignore aesthetics. The Drinkwell Seascape Pet Fountain does not follow this trend and provides a great "zen" like look with an excellent capacity and filtration. The product comes very well packaged with very easy to understand instructions both on the box and in an instruction manual (see picture with all pieces removed). The Seascape fountain retains it's polished look by hiding the power cord via a hole through the center of the bowl by way of a tall tower that is hidden under the sphere that the pumped water flows out from. Mechanical filtration is placed around the pump and the carbon filter is placed within a plastic housing that sits on top of the pump (see pictures). A soft rubber seal is used to as seal to prevent water leaking through the tower that the power cord runs down (see picture). Pulling apart the plastic housing that holds the carbon filter can be tricky, but the key is to use your finger nails to securely hold one side while 'cracking open' the two pieces like an egg. Once assembled, the fountains provides ample amount of water circulation in a very quiet manner. The pump is silent and the water rolls over and down the sphere as if it were "form fitted." It's really slick! A pet fountain though is only as good as the participants using it and this is where our troubles began. Our household has 3 Exotic Shorthair kitties and anyone that knows this breed will confidently agree that they are very loving and mild mannered *but* they are not the brightest of the bunch. Just like humans, every cat has their preferred method of doing things and this specially hold true when it comes to drinking. One of our cats (the smartest) knew there was water flowing over the sphere and drank from it directly. Our second smarted cat sorta-kinda figured it out but had high curiosity for the water sitting in the bowl. Our third cat (all beauty but no brains) could not tell there was water running around the sphere and thus squeezed her head between the sphere and the side of the bowl (which doesn't have much room.. see pictures). Her method of drinking would get her head very wet (which she didn't mind) and thus required us to dry her head to prevent her fur from falling out. The Drinkwell Seascape Pet Fountain is beautiful and runs extremely silent while providing filtration (lasts up to 4 weeks). Assembly was very simple and appears to be designed to last. As with any pet fountain, PLEASE study how your pets enjoy drinking their water and determine if the fountain will accommodate their style. If our cats were a little bit "brighter" and had a little less dense fur we would very much have enjoyed adding this fountain to our home!Michael

They were afraid of it at first so I didn't run the pump. After they got used to that and I added the pump they each drink so much more water. They are totally in love with clean running water now! Hooray! Be very careful to not lose any parts in the water or allow to go down the disposal! I almost lost some that way. Love, love, love this product!!! It makes the water move just enough to attract my cat's attention and compel them to start drinking. I had tried (and returned) other fountains that spurted or dripped and they were loud, with some splashing droplets of water. Both my cats were too nervous to even approach them. Once I had set this one up, one cat was drinking from it within 2 minutes, the other by the next day. There is absolutely zero noise which I'm sure helped to put them at ease, too. I haven't cleaned it yet (only had it 2 days), but looks like it would be pretty easy to clean. I have taken it apart and reassembled it twice as I went to change the water this morning; that's my only "complaint", if you will. You have to make sure that the pieces are sitting exactly where they should be, otherwise you'll think the pump isn't working as well. I can't stress this enough. I was about to jump on here and give it one star, but then stopped myself and examined the components. Sure enough, when I had tilted it to empty out the water, a couple of pieces had ever so slightly moved from their location and this led to the water barely trickling out. Glad I checked, now I know. I had this same fountain for my cats, and the motor died after a couple of years of continuous use. (The previous one was marketed as "Boots and Barkley," but a call to the company confirmed that this was the same item.) Since my diabetic cat drinks more water with this fountain in the house, and since I had just purchased a new supply of filters, I wanted to replace the product as quickly and inexpensively as possible. Petguys had the best price on the web, by far; other suppliers were selling this product for 20-50% more. I ordered primarily because of the pricing and was pleased that the order came within a couple of days. The product is an exact replacement for the one that expired, works beautifully, and my cats and I are happy campers. I have read that cats drink more when they can see water moving. The slow trickle of water down the slide draws them regularly to drink. Filters are inexpensive, and I think it is not surprising that a motor of this size gave out after two years of continuous use.Tamara

I purchased this less than a month ago and when I first assembled it, I barely got a trickle of water and that was only when the water was absolutely filled to the max line. If It went a even a tiny bit lower than the max line it would stop flowing all together. Then I moved, so I cleaned everything out and reassembled it. Now even my tiny trickle was gone. Essentially all I have now is an overpriced plastic water bowl. Sure the reservoir is nice, but I could easily just place down a giant tupperwear of water and it would be the same. I referenced the manual and videos online multiple times to try and fix this issue – to no avail. The one star it deserves is for the fact that the pump is actually very quiet and has never bothered me. However, I have only had this less than a month and most of the reviews say that the pump kicks out after a couple of months – so who knows? Maybe that's still coming.Karinwithani

Was very disappointed in the overall design of the watering bowl. In my opinion it was not worth what it cost. The pump was very small and inadequate, not properly filtering the water as advertised. And yes, I was keeping the water changed and the bowl cleaned as often as I had to do so with a regular unfiltered water bowl. The pump lasted 3 weeks and I had to return the system. Historically, we have always used a bowl. After looking around and reading reviews I decided to try this bowl. I went with the big max as we have 4 cats and occasionally a dog visitor. Initially the cats were spooked and were afraid. I had kept the original water bowl set up. Over a couple days they adjusted and now this is the one they use 99% of the time. The original is still available, but is rarely used. I also like the idea of no corners and plan on cleaning it once a month when the filter is changed. I highly recommend this product.Hypatia

I can not say enough good things! I use to have the 5 gallon big dog water fountain but my big dog passed and needed something smaller for my 20 lb Shiba Inu breed and also that was easier to clean. I hated and i mean hated cleaning my big dog fountain! This fountain is VERY easy to clean. The no thight small spaces where I can't wash with a sponge or wash cloth unlike the big dog I needed multiple tools to clean it. This one's filters are the same I used for my old fountain but it goes in sideways so it's nice and easy to find filters. The water fountain is super quiet especially compared to my old big dog one. No messes or splashing problems. The two tiers are awesome and my dog drinks out of both. I did have to out it on a shoe box to raise it some because my dogs are spoiled and I believe in the bowls being raised up at the right height so they are drinking and eating without bending too far down. It was ok on the floor if she drank out of the top all the time but I noticed she prefers the bottom to drink from most…. The sleek design is amazing compared to my gigantic big dog one that took up so much room and did not go flat against the wall, this one is flat so it goes up against the wall and only comes out a small amount so great for smaller spaces like apartments or anyone wanting to minimize how much space their pet bowls take up… I have been using it for 2 months and I tend to need to wash it only once a month due to dust and hair getting into the water. Has came apart and put back to get her easily and always runs right when plugged back in.CJNF

We used this for awhile and were just not happy with it. The problem is that as soon as the water level goes down an inch or so, the sound level from the pump increases Dramatically. It looks really cool, and I would say it's great for maybe a cat or two. The top part doesn't hold much water, so the volume is rally held in the bottom part. However the pump is slightly elevated inside the base, so as soon as a bit of water is drunk, and the level goes down even a little bit, the pump gets really (annoyingly) loud because it is now sucking air and water. Our fountain sits pretty close to the utility room sink, so we kept a large glass by the sink just to refill this fountain frequently (like a couple times a day). We replaced ours with a larger one and gave this to our daughter for her cat, so it's not a lost cause. And it's not a bad product, it's just that how much it holds does not truly tell you how often you will have to add water. Once about 12-16 ounces have been drunk, you will be adding more water.JamesE

Our dogs prefer running water, which means they would always bypass their bowl in order to head to the tub or bathroom sink for a drink of running water. It was getting old to go turn on faucets at their beck and call (and, yes, we regretted ever doing it the first time), so we got this fountain that is constantly running! It is much smaller than what they are used to so it is taking a little time for them to prefer it over the tub or sink, but they are warming up to it. We look forward to no more whining at the bathroom door or jumping in our nice, clean tub every hour. The fountain is sturdy and holds a good amount of water, so we only have to refill it once a day (for a jack russell and an aussie collie). There is an optional filter that you can change out every two weeks for clean water, which we probably won't use because we have clean well water. You do have to take apart the fountain and rinse/clean the components every couple of weeks, but that is SO worth the time when it is giving us back a small piece of our sanity.Hilary007

My friend/roommate bought this for her dog two months ago while trying to get her to drink more water. Her dog wouldn’t even touch this, so she gave it to me for my dog. My dog will drink anything so I had no issues with that but the quality of this product is so poor. First, the water reservoir has no seal on it so when you fill it up to place it in the bowl, it spills everywhere. The parts barely even fit together. The motor wasn’t working so I took it apart and putting it back together was a nightmare. I put it together with her when we first got it also and nothing would want to fit together then either. I highly don’t recommend. If you want to give your dog filtered water than just pour it from a Brita filter or something. I feel bad that my friend wasted her money. Don’t waste your money.Mdmd567

I purchased this fountain a few months ago. It worked great at first, then I started noticing the water was not flowing like it should. More like it was dripping. A month later now the pump doesn’t work. I’ve purchased other fountains before and this one is the worst of them. I have a cat who is the only one who drinks from this fountain. You would think it could handle one pet. At least the others lasted 2 years before the pumps went out. So theres 2 filters a debris filter just a filter with big gaps to let water through not debris floating in the water and charcoal filter to filter the water. You put the charcoal filter first which lets nothing but water through down a little step to a different section pumps it up through the debris filter and back into the cats dish. so instead of collecting all the debris in the second section using the step down it all gets stuck at the charcoal filter in the part the cats drink out of making the water gross very fast. The order of the filters doesn’t make sense debris filters are usually used to stop debris from clogging stuff but the charcoal filters in the way first stopping all the debris anyways getting clogged. The charcoal filter filters the water clean you already filtered it why does it need the debris filter after that are you saying that debris will get in the water after its been filtered that would defeat the purpose of this while thing. It need to be separating the gross water into the second section leaving the dish clean. Then run it through the debris filter and then the charcoal filter this whole thing is just bad engineering all aroundKeaton

I got this for my Lab/Shepherd/Hound mix and Beagle/Boxer/Pitt mix. At first it worked nicely. The dogs drank more and stopped trying to drink from the toilet. Then after about a month it developed a leak at the bottom. Now it's useless. Also, I had to wipe it out every other day to prevent a slimely buildup around the edges from happening. A good idea but extremely poor execution. Save your money.Xplodi

I have two dogs and they both love this fountain. We have it outside on our "uncovered" porch. The white part where the water comes out lights up at night which makes it look nice in the dark. Friends think it's a regular fountain, so the aesthetics are pleasing. You can tell when it needs water because you can hear the water trickling inside. I do have to clean it about every 4-5 days, moreso in the warm weather. It does get slimey inside. Better than my dogs drinking from the yucky birdbaths!Madaboutdogs

I was unsure about buying this for inside my house but it is great! I have a large breed dog, he loves it. You can adjust the water fountain height and it holds a lot of water. I have a finicky cat and a slobbery Frenchie and one water bowl. When my last water fountain for them broke, I put a regular bowl down and the cat went back to begging at the bathroom sink. I have had this fountain for a couple of weeks now. The last fountain I used broke on me, so I needed a new one. Upon receiving, I could not believe how big this was! I did not expect that, but as a multi pet owner, this is an awesome surprise. It was fairly simple to put together. Make sure to read the instructions, because they do help a lot. Took me about 5 minutes to set this up. This fountain is AMAZING! It keeps the water so cool and clean. The large size means I do not have to refill it as much as I used to. Another awesome feature is all the different Fountain Heads. This is perfect because, as you know, all pets are different. This covers pets who are timid, up to pets that love energetic streams! Worked fine for the first month or so and my cats liked it. Cleaned it every week. After that had to clean it every few days because the water was not clear and bubbles forming ,was very slimy. We've tried several different fountains and so far this one is the best. It looks really stylish and is quiet. Some people have posted about the pump making noise when it runs out of water? Um, you're never supposed to let it run out of water. You'll also kill the pump by allowing it to do that. There have been complaints about the difficulty in cleaning and changing filters–this really isn't any different than the other fountains we've tried. In particular, the little pumps are a giant pain to clean. I will say, the filters are more thought out on this fountain with the "ring" that goes around the pump to keep large particles out–the last fountain we had would suck hair and particles through the pump and the filter was AFTER the pump. All in all, we're really happy with our purchase. The filters are also more affordable than the last fountain we had!Abert

I already reviewed this fountain, but just want to comment that I am letting others know about how great this fountain is. I've let my vet and my internal medicine doctor know how great this fountain is to the importance of my cats drinking especially when you have cats that have Kidney Disease and Cancer. My cats love this fountain and it has made a difference in their lives since I bought it. I see other people complain about the noise and the cleaning process. It is little time out of the day to make sure that your cats are drinking the water they need. I do this on the weekend. It just takes time to learn the steps in cleaning the fountain, once you do, it goes really fast. Like I mentioned I clean the fountain every week and change the filters every 2 weeks – 15th and end of the month. I make sure I soak the filters in water before putting them into the fountain when they are new. How I've helped anyone with with info. I love watching my cats drink from the top of the fountain – it is so cute and makes me so happy. I know they are staying hydrated.Smiley613

Do you love your animals? We've been using this fountain for more than 5 years. And we've had between one and five cats. They all took to it instantly, attracted by the moving water. These fountains are not cheap- nor should they be; this is a high-quality and professional level product that you will have for decades. The bowl and tower are heavy ceramics that are bulletproof. As a pet caretaker it is important to follow the directions, using the filtering system exactly as described. Having the bowl 12-18" off the floor reduces the cleaning frequency. Its not too light that it can get knocked over and it holds enough water that it doesnt need to be changed every day. So far this has been a great fountain for my dog and cat! The cat loves the running water which encourages him to drink and stay hydrated and the reservoir is deep enough that my dog’s tongue doesn’t touch the bottom and it hold enough water that I don’t have to constantly refill it like I did with the smaller cat mate fountain we had before.Sequoia

Hi, I got this because it had running water, just enough to peek my cats interest. I hoped. Good deal, Michelangelo loves this little bowl with a small waterfall. You can call it recirculating running water, but I like waterfall. He is fascinated by the waterfall that recirculates. My cat has undiagnosed ADD, so to see him sit by the bowl after the 3rd day and still be intrigued………YES!! I love watching him take an interest in this item and continue to hang around it. I would encourage others with a cat to consider this product. Reasonably priced and the running water just might be what your little animal wants.Steve

I owned the original Fresh Flow fountain for 10 years (the one with the flow control lever, and blue colored reservoir) and loved it. I never had an issue with it, and gave it away after my cats passing. I now have a new kitty and just purchased a new Fresh Flow fountain, but sadly… I don’t find it not on par with the original version. Although the design remains the same, it seems the plastic is a little flimsy in comparison and it is quite a bit more noisy. The pump appears to be a pulsing electro-magnetic design that emits good amount of vibration when it runs. This vibration resonates throughout the plastic body of the fountain leaving you with a noticeable 60Hz groan as the fountain operates. It’s a shame because I do appreciate the concept in which the water “slides” down into the bowl vs some other brands that “pour” water into the bowl. The slide idea makes it less intimidating for most cats and you don’t get the water noise like you do from the other designs. However, I just don’t think I can deal with the mechanical noise. The old Fresh Flow was MUCH quieter.DJW000

I ordered this on Sunday, and it arrived Tuesday evening! One of my kittens figured it out Thursday morning, and it looks as if he likes it. I'm sure his sister will figure it out soon too. I thought as much as they liked me to turn on the water in the bathroom for them, they'd really appreciate the flowing water. The pump is so quiet I can't hear it, although I'm sure they can. The base has crevices between the two pieces that have been pin-welded together, so it’s just a slime trap. I was going to return them (I bought two), but I decided to try one out. It’s a bit of a pain to get the reservoir onto the base without making a huge mess. Even when I have it on, it overflows and makes a huge mess. Also, this doesn’t seem to be filter friendly as it doesn’t use the same lid as the plastic permeate water dispensers. We’ve only used it for a couple of days, and it’s already nasty. Definitely overpriced. I would have at least liked the option of the filter, which one of the questions online said this is filter compatible-it’s not.GennaSaurusRex10

I have never seen a stainless steel waterer until I discovered this. It is perfect since plastic dishes can increase the risk of seizures. Also stainless steel is easy to keep clean. Only wish it came in a bigger size like the plastic/resin ones. Someone suggested trying a standard 5 gallon bottled water with it. I haven't tried it yet but plan to since I have two large dogs and the higher capacity would be great. I have purchased several types of pet fountains over the years. Issues with all of them. Mostly I could never find one large enough that held enough water. I ran across this Drinkwell model on clearance at a local farm and ranch store. It came with the add-on reservoir. I love this fountain! It is quiet, clean, and the cats love it. So do the dogs (I need to buy a larger one for them!). I find it much easier to maintain than other fountains and the pump seems to be superior as well. I never hear it chuffing or buzzing. It doesn't leak or splatter water all over, either. The add-on reservoir is a stroke of genius. It ensures that the fountain doesn't run dry. While I do monitor the fountain every day, I find I don't need to fill or clean it as often as I did other fountains. I'm sold and will only purchase this brand from here on.sjndestiny1959

We had an old, smaller fountain. We replaced the pump when it finally wore out, but the new version of the pump was louder and didn't have flow control options, so we decided to upgrade the whole bowl. First, yes, it's noisy- but it's noisy like an indoor waterfall, because it's bigger than the old one and the water has farther to fall. It doesn't bother us. We've been using it for about a month, maybe longer. It doesn't get dirty as quickly as the old one did and the capacity is surprisingly large. I mean, you can read the specs, but the water reservoir looks small. Maybe it's just because the actual bowl and fountain are bigger. Anyway, with 4 dogs from 55-100 lbs each, and 1 very large kitty, we still only have to fill this fountain a couple of time a week (they have other water bowls, but this one gets used a lot). Bonus 1, our kitty loves the pouring water. The spout extends farther than on the smaller fountain, so he can actually drink like he would from a sink. Bonus 2, the dogs don't make nearly as much of a mess with this one. That's probably a combination of the water level being higher from the floor in the larger bowl, and the sides of the bowl itself being higher, but it's nice whatever the actual reason. I didn't have any trouble inserting the filter- there are instructions telling you which was it fits, after all. So far, so good. If it lasts as long as our previous one did, we'll really be happy!mbtruitt

I have had this for around 8ish or so years. Today I thought it was broken (eg the pump) as the spinner didn't turn. Went on an internet search and didn't find the fix it solution that worked for me so I have posted that below. I discovered that after I had taken out the spinner there was a tiny bit of very flat (as in didn't stick up at all) hard gunk in the very back of where the spinner sits. Q-tips didn't help. Initially when I'd plug it in separate from the fountain it would spin. Then put the fountain together again and it wouldn't. The gunk in there slowed it down just enough with the weight of the water that it wouldn't turn. Finally I took a miniature slot screwdriver (likely a metal knitting needle, spike, skewer, etc. would work too but I don't have one of those – regular screwdrivers are too "fat" to fit) and used the end of that to scrape out the hard gunk – seriously it didn't look like much at all, it looked flat, but it mattered. YES!! It works again. Giant pain in the rear to clean but worth it in the long run. I have long ago dispensed with the expensive filters – although this means you need to clean out the spinner more frequently – like weekly (even if you have the filter stuff still gets in the water and then sucked into the spinner and wrapped around it). Stops my "I will only drink something other than running water under lout protest" cats from begging in the bathtub (as in every single time I'd enter the bathroom they'd come running and jump into the tub), any sink in the place… This is not quiet. If you like the sound of a fountain then this will make you happy. If you need quiet to sleep then don't put it close to your bedroom. I have it in the corner of the kitchen which works for me but then I have to be careful not to accidentally get food in it.Liz

I have one of these fountains, the original model style, which doesn't look much different from the one pictured here. I, too, have always found it difficult to clean, and the filters actually created a yucky mess, and really didn't help at all to keep water clean. So I stopped using the filters years ago. Never found the "reservoir" to be of any value, other than to create suction so the water would draw up properly to flow down the silent chute! Removed the top years ago, too, so my senior cat could drink more easily, from where the water flows up (where the filter originally was). Remove the the filters and the top, this is a much more practical product without them. Put the reservoir in place (empty) before you turn the unit on after refilling it. With four cats, I clean it once every 5-10 days, and add water regularly. This the second one I've owned, after replacing the inside motor once; when that one stopped working, I bought a whole new fountain. The other part that now needs replacing is the plug because the short wire has a loose connection inside of it. Hopefully, I can get that from PetMate. I also agree that it is difficult to find a "silent" fountain like this model, where the water flows directly down a slope instead of pouring out of the top and hitting a slope or the water below it. There are some on the market, about $20 – $30 more expensive than this one.BambooDragon

I suppose for the price, I shouldn't have expected much, because it is the lowest price for a fountain I've seen so far. I had been looking for a fountain that bubbled up the water fairly well, not just to entice my kitties to drink (they love flowing water) but also to provide some healthy negative ions and moisture to the air. My apartment gets super dry in the winter and every bit helps. However, this is meant just for kitties, so I suppose the flow of the water, which is very light, is good for them because splashing would probably just deter them from drinking. So flow aside, I would have to also say that the catch basin is very shallow, and even the minimal flow from the top will spill over front bottom edge if you fill the water right to the top. Also, the basin is very low to ground, I would have preferred something taller. The components come apart fairly easily for cleaning and are quite easy to put back together, which you only need to do about once a week, and the reservoir comes out very easy for a quick top-up. Overall I would say it's acceptable and does the job for which it was intended, and is fine for kitties, however my recommendation would be to spend a little extra money and get something that's taller, has a bigger basin, and a better flow.bc713

I bought this because we were having a problem with our cat splashing the water in her water bowl to the point of getting everything completely soaked. She would then go in her litter box and leave clay and paw prints all over the house. This frustrated me to all ends! I researched online on why cats do this and saw that they like to see water movement and as most people know most cats likes drinking out of a water faucet. So I read the reviews on this fountain and liked what I read. I figured for under $30 I would take a chance. I am no sorry! This has made my life so much simpler that I wish I had bought this sooner! She has only tried to put her paws in it once. Since then she has not. I turned it sideways on a mat and she can easily drink from the fountain part now and she will just sit and watch it besides. You can tell when it needs more water…gets louder. So far it has done the trick and I am so happy! Beats cleaning out a water dish several times a day! Every three or four day I will rinse and add new water.Luvs2ride

I'm a rescuer. I got this fountain because I have several cats & 2 recently developed serious bladder infections. After talking with the vet & researching, I found that a water fountain was best for them. When I compared prices, I found that this was the best deal for the best product. My cats immediately started drinking from it after setup. The ability to control the strength of flow or even how the flow comes out, is great. It comes apart easily for cleaning also. I have already recommended it to friends & fellow rescuers.garlandpuck

This is perfect! It holds enough water to last a few days. The water that is dispensed from the top can be adjusted so if you don't want to hear it you don't have to. Or you can have more water dispensed so you hear the water running. My cats do love it. They played in it the first two days but then left it alone.Barbara
