Wall Mounted Dog Gates For House For Sale (2024 Update)

I've been looking for a while to find a gate that would fit my space. I have a 66in opening. They all look great then you read the specs. 4 panels that are 28in wide. Well that wont work. I love that this one has the hinges between panels! It will fit the space and look great! Congrats to whoever came up with the design.KmTaylor

I bought this gate to confine my dog in the kitchen which has a large open doorway. It fit well into the space and looked nice. Installation was pretty easy although I had to screw into drywall so if I were keeping the gate I would need to purchase anchors for the screws to ensure stability. For the most part this gate was just what I expected and I was initially happy with my purchase although the door was sometimes difficult to open with one hand. Unfortunately I have an incredibly agile dog and within a day of the gate being up she figured out that she could easily jump right over it. Will be returning the gate since it doesn't fulfill its intended purpose with my dog. I am sure it would work very well for dogs who are not able to jump so high.LuvMyShiba

Seems to be well made and easy to use. But if you stretch it out straight across and you have a wooden floor you will need to put something such as a rubber strip to grip it down. Cause when you try to open gate up gate it has the tendency to slide a little. I put something under side and fixed the issue.Piggyjill

This gate was easy for me to install, templates provided worked great for marking the screw holes. Now it took me a little while to adjust the gate but once I realized how far to screw the hung bolts and what or how they were or the purpose of setting them as I am a girl and never really had to put one up myself but over all this was very easy, no issues with any hardware missing or screws breaking or rust!!! I would definitely recommend this gate to other and I am using for a pet, the bars are close so they cannot get through the bars like 2 1/2 inches between them! The opening and closing is okay once you use several times and if you lined up the hinge bolts correctly and again took me time to know the top one levels the gate to match the closure hook and if in or out to far they won't match up but easy to do in general. The gate has simple clean straight line look, which is what I wanted so highly recommend this gate.Tracy

Having 2 kids close together, we were definitely in need of a functional double stroller. I loved that the Caboose Ultralight allowed for both kids to sit or one to stand since my older daughter was now at the age where she wanted to walk. The Caboose was easy to put together and folds great although it's collapsed size is still a bit big. My 2 year old fit comfortably in the front seat and had plenty of room even with the child tray attached. I really like the 5-point harnesses that helps keep the kiddos secure. Having the shoulder straps makes me feel like my son can't escape easily and is safely strapped in. The parent organizer is wonderful! It's a flexible fabric which allows me to keep sippy cups snug without them being bopped around from uneven ground. There's even a zippered pocket on the outside that let's me keep my keys or phone safe. Plus, the large storage basket let's me tote along the diaper bag, snacks and anything else we may need. Transitioning the stroller for the standing position is easy, I just unsnapped the buttons on the side of the seat, unbuckle the security strap in the back and out it came! The bench seat is awesome! It's great to be able to have my older child walk along and then hitch a ride if she gets tired. The bench seat allows her to get the best of both worlds without the confinement to just being in a seat. The bench seat is padded so it's nice and comfy to sit on. I also really like that the stand-on platform is positioned where the child can stand with their back against the push bar. This gives her something to lean on and me the ability to push without having to move around her. The linked parking brakes make it so much easier to keep the stroller in one place and the front swivel wheels making turning a breeze! I also really like that the snack tray is removable, plus it doesn't crowd my little guy when he's in the seat. When I was pregnant with my second baby, I spent months researching double strollers trying to find the perfect one. I needed one that could accommodate a car seat and a toddler, be easily maneuverable, fold up compactly enough to fit in the trunk of my car, and, most importantly, be affordable. I decided on the caboose graphite with the sold separately rear seat. It meets those requirements, and so far it's working great for my needs. I like that it can adapt as my children grow and my stroller needs change. I have two minor complaints, which is why I'm only rating this 4 stars instead of 5. In order for this stroller to fit well in my trunk, I have to remove the car seat adapter or snack tray and the canopy. It's doable, but it takes some effort to get them off. I wish they snapped on and off more smoothly. Also, when using the car seat adapter with a car seat, the front seat must be reclined to at least the middle position. This makes it a little cramped for my toddler in the back seat unless her seat is reclined all the way. Again, it's doable, but I wish the car seat could fit in with the front seat in the full upright position. Even with its minor drawbacks, this is still a great stroller option for a newborn and a toddler.liswod

I purchased a new graphite model in May to replace an older caboose I had that I passed to my niece and the ultralight one I bought a few years back that my daughter borrowed from me for vacation and kept. BOTH of whom are to in love to with their strollers to part with them leaving me to buy a cheaper brand for when I have their kids, which is often since I am both of their daycare. After two years of hating to push the stroller around back to Joovy I ran. I tried both the new graphite models and actually preferred the regular over the ultralight can't explain why just felt better personally while I was pushing the kids around the store. Since then I have used it 3-4 times a week from the mall to a local farm and everything in between with kids ages 1-5 and have had no trouble with it at all. The newer canopy is great. The baby easily naps with the recline feature. My only ounce of "ugh" with Joovy strollers in general is that they put SO much care and attention into their stroller designs and features until it comes to the parent console! Then you have only one choice and it's an expensive so-so one at best.NeNe27

The gate works well. The materials are good. Gets a bit flimsey at full extension. Install directions were adequate. Holes to attach the 2 sections were slightly misaligned and required is to drill one of them out slightly to allow the hardware to be installed on both top and bottom.Tommy2X

I love this gate, especially for the price! I had to cover an 8 foot area and its perfect. My little one is 1 1/2 and he likes to shake it. Each end is connected into studs so it wiggles but its secure. Both sides have a little slide door, its easy to slide but I prefer to step over. The latch kinda sticks. I also needed a dog door so I actually made one myself with this gate and it was really easy! I know all the dog door long gates are super expensive. I hope this helps!jennifer

We bought this gate for an 89inch entryway between our dining room and living room and it works perfectly. Installation was fast and easy and it has held up to all of my kids banging on it and shaking it and whatever it is that kids typically do. the metal bracket screwed into the gate at the bottom is a little bent from their activity but I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, bent, but still works perfectly. We don't have any problems opening it and closing it, it might be a little tricky when I am in a hurry but still only takes a few seconds. My 3 1/2 years old did open it once unassisted but he hasn't tried it since, I'd imagine its pretty tricky for most kids especially for the ones younger than 3. We bought this for our 1 year old and I wished I had bought it sooner!! I love that it condenses and swings open both directions, can be opened from either end, and that it would be very easy to put away for when guests come over if need be. My husband and I have horses for dogs "kidding!". Our big yellow female Lab took down our "Expanding Wooden Fence" broken in three places. This one is metal nice and tuff works better than I expected. Con: The screws are too small, have 1/2 inch sheet-rock walls used a stud finder then 1 1/4 phillips deck screws to attach plastic anchors. Con: The door on the gate opening is smaller than the expanding wooden fence but works for us. Pro: At the bottom of the new gate I just turned the gate anchors sideways and attached to the baseboard. Just did some minors custom things for my preference: This new gate has a smaller door on the larger door, I have cats so I removed the smaller door so cats can go through all the time. The smaller door hinges are spring loaded. Last the larger door has a stop so the door swings oneway. I used a pair of vice-grips and bent the door stop up. Now the door swings in both directions. We have two five-month old German Shepherd "puppies" and needed to contain them from time to time so they weren't roaming the house getting into anything dangerous. The entryway to the kitchen/dining room was 66", so we bought this Carlson Maxi Gate and also purchased the 24" extension. With the extension, the length was perfect and we attached it to the walls. We used longer bolts as the ones that came with it were kind of short and this gate would have some heavy traffic coming in and out of it. The little pet door is very cute and solved our cat problem, so now they can get in and out of the kitchen without having to manage a colossal jump. However, surprisingly, the door is big enough to allow our "puppies" who are the approximate size of your average Collie, to squeeze through. We solved this by tying some string this way and that to make the little door only open half way, just so the cats can go in but not big enough for the dogs to squeeze through. This will work until they're bigger and then of course we can take the string off. The walk-through gate itself is very easy to use. My only issue with it is that you have to pull up on the lever to open, whereas it would be easier to press down, but the design doesn't allow for that. Regardless, it's very easy for anyone to use, and this was one of my initial concerns before buying it because it was going to be used pretty heavily and I didn't want a struggle every time. Works great, and is much less expensive than many of the other gates I've seen.morlane

My dog fits through the cat door! I have a 30lb 3 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy he is not tiny and goes right through the door. Definitely not meant to be used on puppies or smaller dogs. Also when we had to adjust the length there is now a big mental piece that sticks out into the doorway. Only way to go through is sideways.Angie

My cat has pica and has gotten trouble eating fabric in my sewing room. This gate works well. It is tall enough that she has not jumped over it. Even though she is only 8 pounds, she has not been able to squeeze between the vertical bars. I recently adopted a cat and discovered that one of my dogs has a tendency to dig around in litter boxes. Gross. I was looking for a gate to block the entrance to my laundry room (where the litter box is) that would be high enough to deter my small dogs but low enough that it would be easy enough for my cat to hop over. I love this gate because it's perfect for containing little dogs (mine is 15 lbs.) and it's easy for me to step over. This is the fourth one I've ordered. I just got a new puppy who isn't house trained, AND he tries to run out the front door every chance he gets. After chasing him through the neighborhood three times, I put one of these gates up between my front door and my screen door. I also put three others at the bedroom thresholds to keep him in the living room until he's house trained. The gates also make my two cats feel safe until they all get along! Attention shoppers! Other than one major problem, this is a great product…so far. I received my gates (two) today. They are sturdy and intuitive to use. The doors don't just shut easily on their own, but with a little operator attention they function very well. Now, to the issue: When I unpackaged the gates, the panels on the top of the gates were not wood-grain. I'm not saying I thought the panel would be made from wood, but I thought the panel would have a wood grain design just like the picture shows. It does not. It looks more like a brown leathery design finish. The real problem is that both Carlson (manufacturer) and Petco (distributor) representatives that I talked to said "I am sorry if you are not satisfied with the product." This is an indication that they don't hire people who 1. understand quality control and 2. know how to offer a real apology…and even worse, they don't train their employees on these matters. Petco said I could drive to my local store and return the gates for a refund, but this kind of defeats the purpose of ordering online…and it still doesn't address the absurdity of the issue. If they showed interest in fixing their problem, I would have either not left a review or I would have left a great review. Overall I find the Carlson Pet Products Design Studio Metal Walk-Thru Pet Gate an extremely useful tool for my household. It helps keep our new dog away from our cat's litterbox while still allowing our cat to go about his daily routine. The latch that allows us to open the door without taking the entire gate down is so helpful. My only recommendation is to make the latch for people to walk through more sturdy. If we push on the gate without pulling the latch up we can still get in. If our dog figures this out then the gate does not serve its purpose.Alexander A

The gate was slightly bent too wide at the top section of the gate so the gate couldn't make contact with the latch post. I just laid the unit on the side, with the gate open, and GENTLY pushed the opening down. That fixed the distance problem. All the hardware was included, the warranty and the instructions. Super easy to install. The actual width of the top and bottom rail is 27". The 4" extension only makes it 31". These measurements are BEFORE you add the pressure screws. The spacing between the bars fluctuates between 2" and 2 1/4". The pressure screws could be made of a better quality material and not plastic.tctigger645

I was so happy to find an extra tall/extra wide gate with a cat door and that looked nice and is sturdy! Tractor Supply by far had the best price too! Gate was fairly easy to assemble and install. Highly recommended for families with large dogs and small pets that need to be separated but that you don't want to keep in separate rooms.DoggyWalker

I really like these gates. They are sturdy and easy to set up. They also look nice as well. The gate latch takes a little practice. I love the small door for my cat, keeps the dogs out of her room and she can come and go as she pleases. I had to tie the cat door open but a bread tie works fine. It does the job. I’ve learned that there are surprisingly few pet gate options that are wide enough for my hallway AND include a cat door… at least this one withstands the force of my 70 pound dog when he lunges at my cat. I wish the door swung both ways. I wish it was auto-closing. I wish I could remove the cat door without the use of a saw. I had to rig it open with a hair tie. Maybe other cats are smart enough to open a latch, but mine is not…Steph

I love the gate and it's very easy to put up and it's long enough for the space I needed it for. The only thing that could be better is it's hard for me to open/close the knobs to tighten/loosen the posts to the walls…my husband has to do it for me. I would prefer for the knobs to be larger so it would be easier to turn them.Belldin

Overall we’re very happy! The latch can get loose if you don’t remember to lock it all the way into place – our smarty pants figured that out pretty quickly. It was pretty easy to screw in to the walls, although I had to initially pull the rods out to get at it from the right angle. Also, the width of the door is a little shorter than other gates we’ve had, so that took some getting used to and a few bumped hips.MaryWojo

The handle has 2 mechanisms that you have to move to open the gate. Hassle for easy opening. Great for kids or dogs that figure out how to lift the handle. They can’t open it! There is a small pet door that can be opened, or left closed. It is sturdy and elegant. I would definitely recommend this gate.Theresa

Very disappointed… we got this gate and the lock fell off within 3 weeks. My 3lb dogs (yes only 3lbs) was able to break the lock and the plastic between the slats started to snap. NM is letting me return it but for an item at this price I’m surprised it’s even still offered.Angela

A little pricey for the quality, altho it does seem to do the job and is made of all metal so it can be used outside, so four stars just for price point. Not too hard to assemble and set up, nice and light weight, I did have path way posts that weren’t exactly set parallel, so the gate did work well to be able to offset the closing and locking mechanism. I’m using it to keep two medium-large dogs on the porch. It seems to work well for that. The lock mechanism is a little wonky and cumbersome, but I have it so all I have to do it raise the gate a little and it sets right in the top and bottom holes and stays closed. I wouldn’t use it to keep a curious toddler in one place, especially at the top of the stairs or near the opening to a pool because of that cumbersome lock mechanism, but that’s my opinion. All in all, a decent gate that works sufficiently for what I had intended to use it for.Shelly

I really like the gate . Looks good. I bought them for my deck to keep my Dachshund in. Work good. Should last awhile. Not so easy to open and close. Not in a real bad way but one of them is ….I would call it temperamental. Just doesn't quite want to open or close easily . Yes I would recommend these. I also used the web scanner on the instructions to get You Tube instruction. Very easy to put up. I m 67 and had them both done in about 2 hours. Probably sooner if hadn't stopped to chat with a neighbor .nancy

I bought this gate for a tricky bottom of the stairs installation that required an angle mount. My previous gate (Kidco) had plastic latches but it was the metal bars that ended up breaking after a year of use. This gate has a much smoother operation. Make sure to follow the instructions! I research things to death, and finding baby gates for our stairway was no exception. This was a good purchase. It is relatively sturdy, lightweight, and the design is functional. There are two hex set screws at the top and bottom of the gate that allow adjustment of the gate width. The bracket that holds these set screws was bent open, so instead of a |_| shape it was a \_/ shape. This means the screw almost went through the entire bracket metal (2-3mm) and nearly ran out of threads before it hit the gate. If I had an appropriate clamp I could probably take it apart and bend it back into the proper shape, but then that would introduce fatigue and possibly compromise the weld to the gate. The threads for the set screw were also poorly cut, and required excessive force to use. No, I did not cross-thread the set screw. The latch mechanism had high friction, and concerned me about the wear, as noted in other reviews, so I lubricated the contact points with a small amount of PFTE silicone grease (food safe) and now it shuts and opens much more easily.SHCB

This is a really good gate. I would buy another and recommend the product. The gate is metal and has a seemingly durable coat. I like the quality of the material and workmanship. The reason for the 3 stars? To get the attention of Cardinal. The included mounting kit is useless. No anchors are included and the screws are too short to secure to the studs behind thesheetrock. Love it, so easy to use. You can set it to swing one or both ways. Easy to install, drilled into our door way, feels very secure and sturdy. Easy to open with one hand, one finger even. Nothing to step over when passing through. You can swing it behind you and hear it close lock it’s self but it doesn’t just swing closed on its own if you leave it in the open position, you have to give it a push. It makes a loud click when it’s locked unless you slowly hold the latch as it closes you can do it quietly. Love it wish it was a little cheaperVandy

For the price the pet gate was alright however, the description mentions that the gate will fit openings up to 39 inches and while it might possibly fit the opening, it is quite loose and could be knocked down. It would require firing strips with a 39 inch doorway. The construction of the pet gate is also very light and not nearly as hardy as one previously purchased.Johnr314

Both my roommate and I have medium/large dogs and I also have a cat. We needed a way to keep the dogs from getting the cat food and litter, while also giving everyone access to different parts of the house. I put this gate up in my walk-in closet (where I keep my cat's things) and it works perfectly! I had to tie up the small cat door so that it doesn't accidentally close and leave my cat without access to her box, but that wasn't a problem to me. Also, my cat isn't afraid to go through the door which was another concern of mine, but no issues! The silver finish works fine with my off white walls, and it's easy for me to get in and out of my closet daily. I'd definitely recommend!Rebecca
