It's not extra large, that's for sure. It's a large. My two Berner males at 94-lbs and 120-lbs don't go in because they can barely turn around in it. Nor my 88-lb Pyrenees. The material itself is great. But isn't the point that the dog can get in/out of it so they use it? My smaller 72-lb female uses her Ex-Lg. So is it really the size a medium dog should use? I own 6 of these quality XL dog houses for my Great Pyrenees dog, as well as, my pygmy goats. My goats actually prefer them to there fully enclosed barn. MINNESOTA Winter or Summer, they love to cuddle sometimes 2-3 per igloo. I have never needed to use the flap doors. I think the ventilation is more important. As a bonus they are a great climbing structure, even my guardian dog can be found balancing on top to get a better view of potential predators in the distance. One temporary drawback is the base can be difficult to disassemble from the top, for the first few cleanings. But a large screw drivers works well to pry them apart and they "break in" quite quickly. As my herd grows, I will keep adding these amazing shelters. Thanks Petmate!

These are nice dog houses. They are light weight & don't look like they are very warm, but they actually do a good job, my border collies like these a lot. The extra neck or tunnel entrance is nice to give them some extra protection and privacy. They stand up pretty well to puppies chewing on them to. I recommend this dog house.Iowafarmgal
I bought my first about 20 years ago, then shortly after bought another. My dogs passed, so I gave them to a neighbor, which still has them in use. I recently got a medium breed puppy, so I went and got another since I had such good service out of the first two. I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet outside. We get some snow where I live and my dogs always stayed warm and dry.
I mistakenly bought the Large doghouse for dogs up to 90 lbs. But my 5 month old coonhound was too large for it. I returned it and ordered the X-large doghouse and it is the right size. Unfortunately, the doghouse was broken in two places, probably due to the way you ship. These doghouses are delivered without any protection and will crack or break when sliding into anything. I will have to repair it to hold it together since I don't trust you are able to send another one without the same issues.Daniel

This igloo dog house is absolutely the best thing on the market. Heavy, durable and withstands high winds, rain, and hail. I haven't been able to test in cold temperatures yet as I just received this recently. However, I have no doubts it will definitely hold up. I waited to give a review because I wanted to test out the weather conditions to truly give my 100% honest opinion. Does not come assembled but it's an easy process. The large is quite large. My dog is 60lbs and has plenty of room left in it to move adound. Provides a great shelter. It is constructed very well. You will definitely not be disappointed with this product! Those who have dogs that live outside this would be perfect for. Very well insulated and lining with straw in the winter will make it that much more insulated. We live in Pennsylvania so our winters can be brutal with sometimes 3 seasons in 1 day. I got this igloo-shaped dog house for our Shih Tzu which is 20 lbs. I got this to keep her cool in the warm months when we sit on our patio. It came in two separate pieces in a large box. The top part of the dog house has 4 brackets which easily snaps to the bottom half for quick assembly. I assembled it in our home and needed to carry it out onto our patio through the front of the house since it was too wide to fit through our sliding door. It is surprisingly lightweight for its dimensions, so it is easy to carry to different locations. The top of the house has a round vent with a paw print which can be turned to open or close it as needed for ventilation. Because of its design, there’s room for movement. The smaller opening in the front protects it from the elements such as wind and sun; although rain did get in through that front opening and not the vent. It disassembles quickly for cleaning or even to transport away from home! Although it is a large house, I feel that it is suitable for a medium size dog so that it can have enough room to move comfortably. Once assembled, my dog was confused and leery, which is to be expected since it’s something new! I gently introduced her to the inside and she was able to move around comfortable until she nested on her bedding. I highly recommend this house for any small to med sized pet to be used in the summer to keep them cool and winter to keep them warmer. Yet because it lacks insulation. I would not recommend it for permanent outside shelter in the winter. Additionally, I did notice that it got hot on the patio and thus I had to move it to a shady area to avoid overheating my dog. Bought this for our 7 month old Pyrador puppy, who has already outgrown one house. It was easy to put together, and the sturdist dog house we've ever seen. Plus being insulated is perfect for a cold Indiana winter. She's huge and still growing and loves it. The first night she slept in front of it despite dog treats inside. It’s a great doghouse. He’s already tried chewing the top roof corners off but it hasn’t hurt the integrity of the house. He also won’t get in it. I’m not sure why, because he did get in his crate when it was in his dog pen. He’s a 9 month old GSP. I’m hopeful once he reaches adulthood he’ll stop eating it and actually get in it. I’d totally buy it again though. It’s a great doghouse! I just have a strange dog. He also can’t get on top of it because there isn’t any grip and he slides off. That helps with him not jumping out of the 6’ tall pen.
We got this house for a new Boxador puppy so that it can spend most of its time outside. We found it to be a good product. It was easy to put together and does stay much warmer than the outside air. In rainy weather, it stays dry. It is a very large house which would work for a lab or other large dog. No problems with the dog using the door. Only suggestion: add nuts and bolts for the 6 screws. I just got this dog house and paid somebody to put it together. Only to find out that it is not extra large. I would consider it medium size. Won’t even fit my lab mix. We were looking for a dog house for our 75 lb German Shepherd & we wanted one he would continue to grow into. This fit the bill. Product arrived quickly and un damaged. Set up was painless and easy. Opening is big enough for him & plenty of room to plop down inside. In less than a year he did break one of the roof attachment rails. Working with New Age Pet wasn't a bad experience and the replacement parts arrived quickly enough. I was looking for a dog house for my two dogs (one 50 lbs the other 60 lbs) to share. I am very happy with this dog house. It's not made out of flimsy wood like a lot of the other houses I looked at. The corrugated ecoflex material is very sturdy and this house is very simple to put together. Each piece is numbered and laying the pieces out in ascending order makes putting this house together a breeze. My dogs fit just fine inside the house and they'll be able to keep each other warm this winter. They are medium sized dogs so they're not very tall, if this house were to be purchased for a large breed the buyer MAY find this house to be too short. ex. A great dane would NOT be able to stand up and turn around in it. I've only had his house for a few weeks so I can not comment on the longevity of this product. The only downfall I've noticed so far is that it does get a little wet on the inside when it rains, I believe they make a plastic flap that can go over the door to help eliminate this problem, I just haven't looked into it yet. It's not extra large, that's for sure. It's a large. My two Berner males at 94-lbs and 120-lbs don't go in because they can barely turn around in it. Nor my 88-lb Pyrenees. The material itself is great. But isn't the point that the dog can get in/out of it so they use it? My smaller 72-lb female uses her Ex-Lg. So is it really the size a medium dog should use? I spent $$ for 5 Extra Lg and 1 dog uses it. Not a happy camper.SCloudcroft
I own 6 of these quality XL dog houses for my Great Pyrenees dog, as well as, my pygmy goats. My goats actually prefer them to there fully enclosed barn. MINNESOTA Winter or Summer, they love to cuddle sometimes 2-3 per igloo. I have never needed to use the flap doors. I think the ventilation is more important. As a bonus they are a great climbing structure, even my guardian dog can be found balancing on top to get a better view of potential predators in the distance. One temporary drawback is the base can be difficult to disassemble from the top, for the first few cleanings. But a large screw drivers works well to pry them apart and they "break in" quite quickly. As my herd grows, I will keep adding these amazing shelters. Thanks Petmate!
I use these for my nigerian dwarf and lamancha goats…. In addition to our barn, as additional cover and housing. The little ones got breat but so do the full soze 3 year old lamanchas. I got this recently on a great sale price… it was half the cost of another dog house that I bought (and returned). The one I ended up returning was designed as an actual house, but cost $100 and the plastic was very flimsy… I felt it wasn't worth the price, and my dog never liked it. I looked online and saw this "dog house" (it's really a crate, IMO); and Petco had the least expensive price, at half the retail cost. I was also able to pick it up the same day at a local store, and received a further discount for picking it up at the store. There's only 2 pieces (a top and a bottom), and the top basically just sits on the bottom, with tabs that are supposed to hold it in place. It's not the most secure, but I don't see this being blown across the yard or anything. The plastic is heavy duty and sturdy… I mean sure, if you live in a tornado or hurricane area, then of course, yes, it'll get toss across the neighborhood; but otherwise, it should stay in place. Great for when you need to leave your pet outside for a while. It's very wide, but not very long though. My dog can curl up in here and he can fit, but he can not stretch out or lay out in this… which is fine, because dogs usually like sleeping curled up and they like snug fitting enclosures to sleep in. My standard size labradoodle fits into it. He uses it to sleep in. This is not something he can stand straight up in or something he can stretch out in… but for sleeping, he loves to curl up in it. I bought it for use outside during the winter or a rainy day, to get out of the cold or rain when I have to put him outside in the yard for a while. We put it inside the house first so that he would get use to it. The one I got said it was for dogs 50-90 lbs., which is the large size. He has no problem getting in and out of this, and he likes it a lot better than the Suncast house shaped doghouse I got him (which I ended up returning). This is plastic, but it's made of heavy duty plastic and it's sturdy; there's only a top and bottom part, and basically the top part sits on the bottom part, with tabs that are supposed to hold the two pieces together. Got these doghouses as an outdoor reprieve from the elements for our 2 Huskies. They are very sturdy and made of solid hard plastic. They've managed to remain dry inside even in a couple of downpours and driving rain. The only time that wasn't the case is when I had one on an uneven patch of grass. So you definitely want to place it on a platform if there's no flat surface. Unfortunately our pups, house dogs that LOVE to go out and play, still haven't embraced the concept of having a private pad "outside." Other than that, it's easy to set up and clean. It has plenty of room for our 70 pounder and is absolutely palatial for the 45 pounder. I got the large size for both since they were so affordable – $44 bucks each! Love the color. The dog house (which is being used for a feral cat), arrived quickly and was pretty easy to assemble. It is sturdy enough for our uses, which included putting a smaller insulated cat container in one side of the house and food/water dishes near the entrance. Having the roof lift makes adjustments and cleaning easy. I'm not sure how well this would work for a larger, energetic dog, but it does for us.NDCat

Easy to put together. I was able to do it by myself ( 53 yr old female). I didn’t have any problems screwing the pieces together. The directions were easy to follow. I was able to get both of my dogs in it once I took the bottom door off. Negative: one of the plugs came out of one of the door halves and 1/2 the insulation came out. This house claims to be insulated, but it’s not what you would think. The whole house is just hollow plastic. There is nothing in the walls or ceiling but air. I guess they think the double layer of plastic is considered insulated. I plan to fill the panels with something, not sure what yet.DT
