These are nice dog houses. They are light weight & don't look like they are very warm, but they actually do a good job, my border collies like these a lot. I bought my first about 20 years ago, then shortly after bought another. My dogs passed, so I gave them to a neighbor, which still has them in use. I recently got a medium breed puppy, so I went and got another since I had such good service out of the first two. I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet outside. We get some snow where I live and my dogs always stayed warm and dry.
I mistakenly bought the Large doghouse for dogs up to 90 lbs. But my 5 month old coonhound was too large for it. I returned it and ordered the X-large doghouse and it is the right size. Unfortunately, the doghouse was broken in two places, probably due to the way you ship. These doghouses are delivered without any protection and will crack or break when sliding into anything. I will have to repair it to hold it together since I don't trust you are able to send another one without the same issues.Daniel

Received it fast from shipper, Some plastic panels were a little bent/warped when they came out of the box and when you are assembling can be a bit challenging but no reason to throw in the towel. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars so far overall but I haven't had a chance to weather test it outside against the heat, rains and winds that we will be experiencing during the tropical rainy season in South Florida. Look forward to see how well I think it will hold up during this period and also year around. In addition but not as a necessity I plan on adding a new plastic sheet underneath the new elevated level concrete platform and some new comfortable bedding which will be inside covering the plastic flooring base for our priceless family dog. Also due to the nature of the tabbing in assembling this dog house which could be alot better in my opinion, I decided to glue the two piece plastic flooring base together for more strength something that I didn't have to do. I might decide in the future to glue it all together but for now until I complete all the weather testing I will leave it as is. I would suggest to the manufacturer to make the instructions a little clearer/easier to read, make the tabs snap together better and easier, add more vents on the sides if possible, replace the twofront pieces of plastic with screening and as a after market item a battery operated fan/heater that you can install to keep your dog cool or warm. This is made out of thin plastic, and you literally snap the pieces together. I would recommend getting the plastic crates that can be used indoors/outdoors, as they are sturdier and only in two pieces, and cost less. This is not sturdier, and the plastic also gets stress spots on it if you take the roof off to clean or whatever. It's also a tight fit for big dogs, which is good in winter, but not in summer… and if using to keep out of rain, a big dog would still get wet because his head would most likely be sticking out. The dog house looks nice once it's set up. However, the structure is not too stout and the walls are too thin as well as the floor. So I'll be needing to make a few improvements. I'll need to add some foam board to the walls to provide better insulation during the winter months. And will need to install a dog house heater to keep my dog warm during the night and for those cold days. But for the price it's a decent dig house.Robapo

I just got this dog house and paid somebody to put it together. Only to find out that it is not extra large. I would consider it medium size. Won’t even fit my lab mix. We were looking for a dog house for our 75 lb German Shepherd & we wanted one he would continue to grow into. This fit the bill. Product arrived quickly and un damaged. Set up was painless and easy. Opening is big enough for him & plenty of room to plop down inside. In less than a year he did break one of the roof attachment rails. Working with New Age Pet wasn't a bad experience and the replacement parts arrived quickly enough. I was looking for a dog house for my two dogs (one 50 lbs the other 60 lbs) to share. I am very happy with this dog house. It's not made out of flimsy wood like a lot of the other houses I looked at. The corrugated ecoflex material is very sturdy and this house is very simple to put together. Each piece is numbered and laying the pieces out in ascending order makes putting this house together a breeze. My dogs fit just fine inside the house and they'll be able to keep each other warm this winter. They are medium sized dogs so they're not very tall, if this house were to be purchased for a large breed the buyer MAY find this house to be too short. ex. A great dane would NOT be able to stand up and turn around in it. I've only had his house for a few weeks so I can not comment on the longevity of this product. The only downfall I've noticed so far is that it does get a little wet on the inside when it rains, I believe they make a plastic flap that can go over the door to help eliminate this problem, I just haven't looked into it yet. We just received the doghouse and I have to say the assembly was extremely easy. Took me 20 min by myself (34 yr old woman). We needed a doghouse that would be a nice shelter for our dog when we are out all day (leaving him inside all day is not working). House seems well made. Flooring makes me a tad nervous about its stability (not as solid as I would like), but I think it should hold my 64 lbs growing boxer pup ok….we will see. Looks really cute and I love that it's raised so rain won't effect it. Roofing looks waterproof & should be prefect for our boy when we are gone all day. Product looked great online, had all the features for our 2 small dogs (Corgi/Jack Russel mix – 20 lbs. each) to share a large size house. We also bought the insulation liner (great product as well). House was easy set-up with one screwdriver, pre-drilled holes lined up perfectly. All parts were pre-cut to the right specs, and very decent quality. The unit is very study when put together. We put one of their dog beds in for added comfort – they love it. It took less than a day before they had their sleeping and hanging out arrangements figured out, plenty of room for both. I purchased one of these after trying one of the hard plastic barn-type dog houses without success. Either my dogs didn't like the plastic, or were afraid of the smallish entry, so even though they are only 50 & 70 lbs, I went with the XL size. After getting them used to the dog house by tossing a few treats into the back of it, they seemed to not mind this one. A few days later, I heard a ruckus in the back yard, and upon investigation, I found that my dogs were fighting over who got to sit in the dog house, thus forcing me to purchase a second one just to keep them happy. I also placed an outdoor carpet square in each dog house for padding. This dog house is easy to assemble and looks nice. However, the floor pieces are not secured with screws so I can hear them rattling a little when the dogs climb in and out. Leaving the pieces as they are will allow me to turn the dog house on its side for easier access while cleaning, but I may just screw the floor pieces down anyway. Also, the packaging tends to leave the roof ridge cap vulnerable to breakage during shipping. Called the company for a free replacement and am waiting for the part to arrive.oblvios

This igloo dog house is absolutely the best thing on the market. Heavy, durable and withstands high winds, rain, and hail. I haven't been able to test in cold temperatures yet as I just received this recently. However, I have no doubts it will definitely hold up. I waited to give a review because I wanted to test out the weather conditions to truly give my 100% honest opinion. Does not come assembled but it's an easy process. The large is quite large. My dog is 60lbs and has plenty of room left in it to move adound. Provides a great shelter. It is constructed very well. You will definitely not be disappointed with this product! Those who have dogs that live outside this would be perfect for. Very well insulated and lining with straw in the winter will make it that much more insulated. We live in Pennsylvania so our winters can be brutal with sometimes 3 seasons in 1 day. I'm not sure how this would hold up insulation wise in much colder climates but for us it's absolutely perfect.Cainjm301
I got this igloo-shaped dog house for our Shih Tzu which is 20 lbs. I got this to keep her cool in the warm months when we sit on our patio. It came in two separate pieces in a large box. The top part of the dog house has 4 brackets which easily snaps to the bottom half for quick assembly. I assembled it in our home and needed to carry it out onto our patio through the front of the house since it was too wide to fit through our sliding door. It is surprisingly lightweight for its dimensions, so it is easy to carry to different locations. The top of the house has a round vent with a paw print which can be turned to open or close it as needed for ventilation. Because of its design, there’s room for movement. The smaller opening in the front protects it from the elements such as wind and sun; although rain did get in through that front opening and not the vent. It disassembles quickly for cleaning or even to transport away from home! Although it is a large house, I feel that it is suitable for a medium size dog so that it can have enough room to move comfortably. Once assembled, my dog was confused and leery, which is to be expected since it’s something new! I gently introduced her to the inside and she was able to move around comfortable until she nested on her bedding. I highly recommend this house for any small to med sized pet to be used in the summer to keep them cool and winter to keep them warmer. Yet because it lacks insulation. I would not recommend it for permanent outside shelter in the winter. Additionally, I did notice that it got hot on the patio and thus I had to move it to a shady area to avoid overheating my dog. Lastly, please leave a water bowl near this house in whatever weather!Madz64
This is one of the best dog houses I have ever had. I love that its light weight but very sturdy dog house. I have never seen a vent on a dog house, but I have to say that is a genius idea for all dogs. My dogs like that it's roomy and keeps them warm on the cooler and hot days. I like that. I got this recently on a great sale price… it was half the cost of another dog house that I bought (and returned). The one I ended up returning was designed as an actual house, but cost $100 and the plastic was very flimsy… I felt it wasn't worth the price, and my dog never liked it. I looked online and saw this "dog house" (it's really a crate, IMO); and Petco had the least expensive price, at half the retail cost. I was also able to pick it up the same day at a local store, and received a further discount for picking it up at the store. There's only 2 pieces (a top and a bottom), and the top basically just sits on the bottom, with tabs that are supposed to hold it in place. It's not the most secure, but I don't see this being blown across the yard or anything. The plastic is heavy duty and sturdy… I mean sure, if you live in a tornado or hurricane area, then of course, yes, it'll get toss across the neighborhood; but otherwise, it should stay in place. Great for when you need to leave your pet outside for a while. It's very wide, but not very long though. My dog can curl up in here and he can fit, but he can not stretch out or lay out in this… which is fine, because dogs usually like sleeping curled up and they like snug fitting enclosures to sleep in. My standard size labradoodle fits into it. He uses it to sleep in. This is not something he can stand straight up in or something he can stretch out in… but for sleeping, he loves to curl up in it. I bought it for use outside during the winter or a rainy day, to get out of the cold or rain when I have to put him outside in the yard for a while. We put it inside the house first so that he would get use to it. The one I got said it was for dogs 50-90 lbs., which is the large size. He has no problem getting in and out of this, and he likes it a lot better than the Suncast house shaped doghouse I got him (which I ended up returning). This is plastic, but it's made of heavy duty plastic and it's sturdy; there's only a top and bottom part, and basically the top part sits on the bottom part, with tabs that are supposed to hold the two pieces together. Got these doghouses as an outdoor reprieve from the elements for our 2 Huskies. They are very sturdy and made of solid hard plastic. They've managed to remain dry inside even in a couple of downpours and driving rain. The only time that wasn't the case is when I had one on an uneven patch of grass. So you definitely want to place it on a platform if there's no flat surface. Unfortunately our pups, house dogs that LOVE to go out and play, still haven't embraced the concept of having a private pad "outside." Other than that, it's easy to set up and clean. It has plenty of room for our 70 pounder and is absolutely palatial for the 45 pounder. I got the large size for both since they were so affordable – $44 bucks each! Love the color. Bought this for our 7 month old Pyrador puppy, who has already outgrown one house. It was easy to put together, and the sturdist dog house we've ever seen. Plus being insulated is perfect for a cold Indiana winter. She's huge and still growing and loves it. The first night she slept in front of it despite dog treats inside. Second night was cooler, she decided to check it out so the head and front paws went thru the swinging door first, and after she had stood that way for about 5 minutes, walked all the way in, and has loved it ever since. We got this house for a new Boxador puppy so that it can spend most of its time outside. We found it to be a good product. It was easy to put together and does stay much warmer than the outside air. In rainy weather, it stays dry. It is a very large house which would work for a lab or other large dog. No problems with the dog using the door. Only suggestion: add nuts and bolts for the 6 screws. Screwing metal into plastic is not a real good plan. I'm assuming the company will have replacement parts (door, window, etc…) available for my investment!Y Robinson

It was difficult to snap the pieces together and you have to have another person to help. Its very thin plastic, not like a Little Tykes product. Im afraid when it rains, it will pour through the roof because of the way the plastic barely snaps together and with little overlapping. I opened up the box to find a very flimsy doghouse. It was very difficult to get the bottom pieces together and then when I finally was able to get them puzzle together later fell apart when my dog stepped on the inside of it. Very solid and sturdy doghouse for a large German Shepherd. She loves it! I did need someone else to help hold the pieces while I slid things into the proper channels, but it was very easy to put together. Just pay attention to where the floor screws onto the house. The directions did not seem as clear about where the tiny drilled holes actually were, and I tried to attach it through what turned out to be drain holes on the sides! Had to call the toll free number for assistance, and buy four new screws for the correct holes.Brenda
Thin soft plastic plastic, dogs can chew it easily. NO instructions included. Really hard to assemble , keeps falling apart. Nothing to hold it together, if the dog bumps the roof the whole thing falls apart unless you glue it together. If the insulation plug is pulled out by the dog the insulation spills out… it's that HORRIBLE tiny beads of styrofoam. Makes an incredible mess. I have built and bought and owned probably about 40 dog houses, I'm in the dog business. These are horrible. The flap door will just blow open in the wind and is a target for chewing by the dog.Smitty

This "medium" doghouse was smaller than described in the online details. The length was 2 inches shorter. The width and depth were each 1 inch shorter. I had most of the doghouse assembled before I decided to measure it. I had to take it apart, package it up and return it to my local store. Fortunately, the return process was easy. Easy to put together. I was able to do it by myself ( 53 yr old female). I didn’t have any problems screwing the pieces together. The directions were easy to follow. I was able to get both of my dogs in it once I took the bottom door off. Negative: one of the plugs came out of one of the door halves and 1/2 the insulation came out. This house claims to be insulated, but it’s not what you would think. The whole house is just hollow plastic. There is nothing in the walls or ceiling but air. I guess they think the double layer of plastic is considered insulated. I plan to fill the panels with something, not sure what yet.DT
