I have a pup that is a large breed, he looks like I been feeding him steak and potatoes cause he's so dang big. He is ALL puppy though. Chews on everything loves running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Been trying to train him to chill with me, yeah, right. He wants to play. And because he wants to play, he wants to run every stinkin where. Decided, for my sanity as well as his safety, I'd get this thing. Put the flags out, set it on a low static charge, and it didn't take long before he figured it out. You DO have to WORK a dog with this. It's not just a plug it up and watch their hair shoot up when they get popped. Walked him around the perimeter for 7 days, he sees and sniffs the flags. After that, I let him run around, and he got popped maybe 3 times, and figured it out. Now he's pretty dang happy, and I can let him rip around with zoomies while I work in the yard. I have a 2 yr old LARGE French Mastiff that weighs 180ish! I bought with the (red in color) “stubborn” collar. We previously installed a wired underground fence. (Which I have to mention took 2 FULL DAYS TO INSTALL AND READY TO USE!!) My Bo would realize he was close to the boundary, take a step or two back then take a run right through it, with no second thought!!! We watched him do this several times. I guess he was thinking, well this is going to hurt but only for a few short seconds. Idk?? But it did NOT phase him one bit! I had talked to 4 or 5 people that had this system, so reluctantly I decided to give it a try. I thought to myself well if it doesn’t work I will simply return it, no harm no foul. My boyfriend had it installed and collar on Bo in 30 mins flat. We walked ole hard-headed Bo around maybe 4 times to show him the boundaries. Once he heard the beeping, he kept walking then he felt the shock 1 time and that must have been enough because he never ventured close again! It has been about 2 months of use and I would give it 100 STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION! We live in a subdivision where houses are fairly close. I was ultimately worried that the zone would lead into the neighboring yard. (which was the #1 thing we are trying to prevent) And although it may, Bo doesn’t even attempt to go that far. I believe he now understands to stay in his own yard! Living in a subdivision, many people take walks and Bo just sits and watches them now!! Matter of fact, just to see, we have sent him outside WITHOUT the collar and ironically enough HE STAYS IN OUR YARD!! The ONLY complaint I have is the small clear piece on the collar broke off the first time I went to adjust the strength of the shock. So far it hasn’t effected anything so fingers crossed on that! Just an FYI, we set ours on a level 3 to begin with and my boyfriend was ready to give up, so I told him to have some patience and we just kept adjusting the level on the collar and we ended up discovering for Bo he needed to be set on a #6. Again, I repeat he weighs 180 lbs, and the Mastiff bread is KNOWN for their stubbornness. I would suggest starting at the lowest level for a smaller dog PLEASE! But, if you are hesitant as myself, about this system just give it a try AND I PROMISE YOU WILL BE SO SURPRISED!!!!! I love this system, and just hope that it lasts!!!!!!Owner of French Mastiff

My active Doberman is recovering from a spinal injury and needs to be confined. This pen is perfect. The quality is top-notch, with plenty of clear and illustrated instructions that are really not even necessary as it's so simple to set up. My one and only quibble is that the box opened nearly the full length of the side during shipping. I think the packing tape gave way. All parts were intact and nothing was damaged so just FYI. I'm now going to buy another one of these for the back yard. I was going to transport this one in and out rather than spend the money since it's (I'm hoping) not a life-long need, but while it's so easy to fold and move, it is pretty heavyweight (42") so it'd be a bit of a chore for me to do often. She's never been a jumper, especially not now, and I don't leave her alone outside so I could easily go with a lower height that's less expensive and more portable (keep in the shade) for the yard.jacy

I like Midwest products as the metal seems to be stronger and last longer than other brands. I have the original ex-pen I bought around 1995 – it's survived 50+ large dogs. I prefer them to crates as the dogs have more room to move around, yet they are easily configured to a smaller shape when potty training. They easier to clean than crates. They fold flat and I can store them next to a fridge or behind a furnace. They work indoors/out and are great mobile containment. For dogs living in fenceless areas (condos) ex-pens can be linked using carabiners/bolt snaps (i.e., dog leash clips) for fencing moveable for mowing/snow removal. They are great for patio surrounds. You can buy metal tops for if a dog needs more containment, but most won't if using a tall enough ex-pen. I've also bought just the metal or plastic crate pans to put under the ex-pen if needed. To keep the ex-pen from falling or being moved if I have a rambunctious pup I bungee the corners to furniture or door knobs.HannahB

I ordered several of these to use as barriers to prevent my young Border Collie from running through the mud in our back yard after it rains. I set them up just off the patio several feet to allow him some space in the grass without giving him free reign of the whole yard to run through. They are very easy to set up, take down, and store! The quality is excellent – the panels are very sturdy, the clips are easy to use, and the pins to anchor them in the ground are a great length and weight. I could not be happier with this purchase! We have not installed it in the door yet…but just looking at it, it looks sturdy and indestructible, which is good, because my dog literally eats and tears the doors with the flexible plastic. I have 7 dogs of varying sizes who use this door constantly. The only fault I find is that the rubber gaskets between the slats in the door wear out . Everything else lasts a very long time. I tweaked it by putting piano hinges between the slats and that has extended its use a lot. If I could buy just that part the door would last practically forever! These are the best pads I’ve used so far. I’ve tried them all: charcoal activated, huge ones, small ones, blue ones, green ones…. Everything. My cat has special needs as she is older and doesn’t like the feel of litter in her paws due to arthritis. So we line her litter boxes with these and she uses them happily. These smell nice when you put them out initially and the smell dissipates after a little bit. So the smell isn’t overwhelming. It also hasnt deterred my pet from using them. They’re very absorbent and they’ve never failed me in that sense. They certainly hold lots of urine. But as soon as they’re soiled, they do not mask the smell of urine or feces fully. They help, but they’re not magic after all. We change them out as soon as she uses them and would recommend it for anyone using them for puppy training. However, since walking on the urine will wet their paws and then move the peepee paw marks wherever else they go, as far as “transfer” goes, they’re not 100%. If our girl pees and it catches her back paws, they do get a little wet with pee and we have to wash her little pawpaws. So that’s something to consider.Celeste

I have used these pads 21”x21” for my small dog for years. Multiple pees are accommodated on each pad per day. I use the plastic tray with them. The tray holds the pad in place securely as the dog moves around. They never leak and absorb the urine quickly. I would never use another brand. There is no lure pheromone added to these pads and therefore perfect for animals that are not in training. Use the correct sized pad for the weight of your animal. A large dog in a small pad will cause leakage. Having a pad trained dog is wonderful for the animal and you. My dog can go to the bathroom when needed and doesn’t have to be in the icy cold weather for a pee. Less stress for everyone. Also convenient for traveling as you can provide a pad anywhere and your dog will use it. Takes time to pad train, and starting a puppy is easiest. However, I did train an electrolyte dog to use these late in life. I highly recommend these pads and the appropriate holder tray.luv2shop

On a weekly trip to Walmart, I stopped by the pet aisle to grab the stash of pads I needed for my fur babies. I usually use the blue lined pads in the large size and they work great. This day I accidentally bought the purple lavender scented ones. I figured if anything my living room will have the added pleasure of smelling great. Well then. My 3 adorable ferrets decided that this scent brought them back to the memories of their ancestors and decided to dig up these new pads as if they had a mission to generate a warp-hole to lavender fields of old. Sensing this could be a problem I took the duct tape approach. Lets tape these suckers into the cage so they can be dug up no more! Eureka! Well, no. The story only really begins here. Then one of them actually used the pad. I mean, well how much could a little carpet shark or three really pee right? Upon the first usage of this lavender scented pad my babies cage was covered in a flood like in the days of Noah! I think they released the Kraken! I had synchronize swimmers on my hands. This just did not work. After calling a clean up crew I decided that it just might be best to return to Walmart to pick up a package of the blue lined pads after all, as who could deal with all this on the daily. Way to go Hartz for the lovely thought behind the lavender scent… but this product had failed me and my babies in so many ways. Fist bump for effort though.Noodle mama

Good quality for an excellent price. This is very well constructed and is surprisingly easily handled by one person. The entire pen is secured with two included hooks and then can be configured to any shape necessary. This size should provide adequate space for small dogs to enjoy for quite play. The height of this particular size may be overkill for small dogs unless they are agile jumpers. I ordered this for my greyhound for leisurely sunning without needing a leash. The height is adequate but the interior space is just enough for her outdoor bed and her body. I will order another two to provide more area for investigating the outdoors next spring.Sharon

I use these pens for my angora rabbits. They are a larger breed and some of them will jump over the other pens with little effort. I really like the door and the child proof hook. It's tall and sturdy and has enough stakes for every section. I bought it when the price came down and loved it so much that I bought two more! Great price. Easy to put together. It's very sturdy. Arrived very fast. My dog is getting up there in years. He was having a problem getting on and off the bed. He is addapting to the steps. We have 2 small chihuahua mix, it has been harder lately for them to jump up to the bed, age/weight. After setting steps up to the bed, it just took a few times of showing them how to use it, then they caught on. They both use it with out any problems, they are so proud of themselves. The quality of the steps seem fine. They assembled easily and I think that the removable carpets are a good idea for cleaning. All of that said, my dog doesn't like them and has a hard time going up and down them. In fact, he would rather jump off the bed than use the steps. I think that it is a combination of two things causing his dislike of the steps. First is the width, and second is his size. He has a hard time coordinating the placement of his back feet on the bottom step with the timing of when his front feet are on the top step because of the length of his body. He will be trying to get his back feet on the bottom step but he keeps missing it. Maybe if steps were wider or if he wasn't as long this wouldn't be a problem. He has fallen off of them about 6 times now. I plan on selling these and building him a ramp instead of steps because of this. If you have a long bodied older dog, you may want to take this into consideration before deciding to purchase these. Maybe a ramp would be a better choice for your dog also.timberwf

I purchased the play pen for my 10 week old chihuahua. I am pleased that it gives him plenty of space for a bed, a potty pad, a wooden table for food and water, and still plenty of space for him to play with toys. I am using the play pen when I need to be gone for any amount of time. I also purchased a crate at our local store for him to use at night. He seems to like being in the play pen. I know my cat appreciates having the house to herself when he is in it. The two are still working on sharing a home and myself. They are doing well considering it has only been 10 days. I feel that any breed that is bigger then a toy/miniature would be better in a bigger,sturdier enclosure. I think that this would also work for cats/kittens while house training. I am looking forward to fall and being able to move it back and forth from inside and outside. It will provide a safe place so he is able to enjoy spending time outdoors and getting fresh air. I bought the pink one for my 3 month old American cocker spaniel and it was definitely not a good choice. It's cute and the color is nice but it's too easy for the sides to cave in and if your dog or cat is super crazy, they can actually move this around the floor like a hamster ball. This is probably fine for small, inactive puppies, dogs, kittens or cats. It's spacious enough for a sedentary furry friend. My hyperactive little terror sunk her teeth into the mesh sides and started pulling it apart. She also figured out how to unzip it. I would not recommend it.kejean12

The product is basically as it is described. My puppy is a little rambunctious, so she wouldn't stop pulling them around and trying to eat the grass off. She is 4 months old and very energetic. She was initially trained on potty pads, but we were looking for a segue into training her to go outside. It didn't really work for us. I ordered a LARGE for my PUGGLE and he barely can fit on it. Definitely not even close to true to size. And since i've started using this the scent of urine has been obnoxious and potent and i clean it daily with pet lysol spray and hot water. Honestly id rather let my dog pee on the floors and clean it up daily rather than use this "indoor restroom". Extremely dissatisfied.Lady J

This is a purchase that I can conclude as a lesson learnt. I purchased this product because it was smaller than my other pet unit which allowed it for portability when traveling. The turf itself is okay quality, easy to clean and drains correctly. However, the middle draining tray is not designed at all to work at all. The urine just collects on top of the drain tray because the holes and bumps aren't in a functional area and it barely drains to the lower tray. It is made from a texture that soaks up the urine instead of allowing it to flow off and threw, therefore it collects oder, collects urine that won't wash/scrub off, it can't be cleaned properly and all that waste causes the material to break down. When I say break down, I mean in ever sense. It starts to break off in pieces. Every time I clean the product, more peices fall off and it gets smaller and smaller. Basically, this product does not work. I learned that I should stick with what works and not take chances of cheaper off brand products. Even though the size of my other potty unit is less portable, it actually works! (If it's okay to say, I only trust the AKC Official Potty Patch, which is superior in every way to this product.)HeathersLasVegas

I have had to use this product a couple of times and it has worked on the dogs that I have sprayed. Now when they see me riding my bike they do not even come after me. The only issue is that you will only get about 5 good spray shots out of the 1.5 oz. can before the pressure is reduced.jbladine55

This was definitely an overdue purchase. We have been propping the basement door open with a shoe for months in the new house for the cat to run down to do his business and it finally came time to close the door (when the cat would come upstairs he would nudge the door fully open because he was too fat to sneak through the gap). My husband said it was easy to put in. My only issues with this product are (1) the flap doesn't swing a easily as i would like and our cat kind of has to put a little effort in to opening it (I'm sure this will ease as he uses it more) and (2) the lever at the bottom to lock it is very stiff and I feel like I'm going to break it one of these days. With those only two VERY minor things I would surely suggest this to anyone. Also, my cat is definitely not HUGE (12 lbs, i think) and he seems to be just the perfect size for this product. It does leave room for him to grow wider if that happens but I'm so glad we went bigger rather than smaller.kandrwild

I have a 97 lb. German Shepard. He is in a wheelchair/cart because he has no coordination or muscling in his hind legs. Because of this, he drags his feet and knuckles over, causing scrapes and bleeding to his hind feet. I have tried a wide range of items including my own protective foot wrap. ALL have fallen off in the first few strides. PawZ are a dream come true; they stay on, protect his feet and are reusable. Currently, I only use the boots on his hind feet. He takes a size Large and just like our own shoes, you need to get the correct size for you dog. *******IMPORTANT*******DO NOT LEAVE THESE BOOTS ON YOUR PET’S FEET FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME!!! They are snug around the neck of the boot, so I would suggest removing them immediately after you return from walking. I wouldn’t suggest using them for indoor traction for any period of time.Eli12

We got these for our parents dog because everywhere they can take him out in the winter has giant chunks of salt that really bother his paws. The top of the boots are very tight! Be very careful if your dog has sore legs or paws, don't put these on unless you cut the tops to let up some pressure. I bought the Lg size for a pit bull and they fit well besides being tight at the top. Unfortunately the dog we got them for had a bad experience, within a few minutes they were hurting him, and even more to get them off. They should be fine now that we cut them but hoping he will have forgotten the unpleasant experience by next winter. We tried the same ones on our small dog and they were tight on his legs which were half the size or less of the pitbulls. If your dog has very arthritic legs or paws, or even if they're sensitive you may want to get the more permanent type boots that are more gentle to get on/offcatelynprovos-0

Got this for a large dog to recover from surgery. Not as strong as a large welded wire portable kennel. It does allow more room to stretch out than the large portable kennel. If your animal needs room to move around, this may be a good kennel. Not super sturdy. Walls will moved out since they are connected with brackets (two each panel). May not be escape proof. No attached floor. Fitted tarp cover is nice. There are no cheap kennels out there. This one was priced okay and shipped free to my door. It was packaged well.CheapTX Guy

This is an extremely sturdy kennel and of high quality. Very easy to assemble. I assembled it myself and completely finished it took me about an hour and a half. The only downside is this kennel doesn't come with anchors that go in the ground to give it that extra firm support, however it doesn't appear to need it, as the kennel is extremely sturdy without them. I have a huge 75lb male english bulldog, a 35lb corgi and an 18lb maltese. I was worried about the small ones getting through this with the double flaps and also it being the super large one, but so far they are better with the door than the bulldog is. This door is great. And since my corgi has the shortest legs I actually put the door a little lower than you are supposed to and it was totally fine. The only thing I don't like about this door so far is the wind does push open the flaps, but it's usually only when it is pretty bad out. And I haven't had a problem with my magnets falling back in line on the bottom of the flaps like some people posted about, so I really like this door!Natalie

This pet door is sturdy and durable. The template didn't line up, so we installed the door without it. I have a very large dog that plows through it at top speed and it has held up to his abuse. I have a tripod dog and she is able to use it without any problems. We did have to remove one of the flaps to get the dogs used to it with treats. It gave us a sense of comfort knowing the dogs could go in and out of the house while we were out of town and couldn't take them with us. I also have a large dog who is terrified of thunderstorms and I hated leaving her when I knew our normal weather patterns would include late afternoon storms. This door was much easier to install than my previous door. Just as advertised it prevents the wind from blowing the flaps open and letting the A/C escape. I have had a Hoover Windtunnel since 2012 and love it. This vacuum is terrible. It has good suction but………When it is in the Upright position so you can use the attachments the roller brush does not shut off. It ruins your carpet! It actually was smelling like something was burning. I think the belt was slipping. Bad engineering to not have the roller brush shut off in the upright position. What kind of idiot would say yes to a design like this? Our Windtunnel shuts off in the upright position. Tried to call Hoover….was told they were closed on a Thursday, I Was told in a recording to go online which I did but chat said they were closed and to call them. PING PONG affect going on here. DUMB….. Then on Friday was on hold 2 hrs before it cut me off. Called back, pressed the prompt for a call back and never got one the entire day and still no call back. Today is Monday called again and again We are closed after going through all the prompts to wait for an agent. Went online to chat and actually got someone named Honey B who was a bit rude saying we are open, just busy. So there is a difference of being closed and saying busy hang on….. Then when I told about the problem we had I was told to talk to who makes our carpet. Pass the buck Hoover on poor engineering huh????. You should never have a vacuum that the brush spins and spins when it's in one place. This vacuum was made to use attachments so put the rollers into idle please while using them. You will wear out your carpet and wear out your vacuum belt. Hoover will try everything I'm sure to cover our damaged carpet….SO BUYER beware. FORGET this vacuum. Its junk. PLUS the dial to lift the vacuum head up really does nothing. It's a joke. And when emptying the canister, it fell off the hinges. Seriously, I will never recommend Hoover again. They have gone down hill..You do get what you pay for. And this one is best left on the shelf.Larry59

I grew up using Hoover products and have used them my entire adult life. I researched all brands/models before replacing our older Hoover. We decided on this vacuum due to having three cats and it's excellent reviews. The first time I vacuumed with it, I loved it. I actually still love it's vacuuming capabilities (after using it a month). The fault with this product lies in the fact that as soon as you turn on the vacuum, the brush turns at a very high speed (while vacuum is still in upright position) and the brush doesn't stop until you turn off the vacuum, regardless of floor setting or if you are using the upholstery/stair attachments. I've never had a vacuum like this before and being that it's specifically designed for pet owners, the fact that the brush turns when the upholstery attachments are in use baffles me. While trying to vacuum our couch the brush actually wore on our carpet and heated it to the point of melting after less than a minute. I tried manipulating the vacuum and leaning it back off the carpet while using the attachment but that is just way too much effort. We tried it on all floor settings including hard floor with the same results. Honestly, the brush shouldn't turn until the handle is released for vacuuming so I'm not exactly sure why it was made this way. I returned it thinking I had a faulty vacuum and exchanged it for the same model (it does vacuum really well), and the second vacuum did the same, so I must assume it's simply a design flaw. So if your pet's don't shed on furniture or stairs I recommend this model, otherwise It pains me to say that I don't recommend it.Cat mom of three

Well, it seems to do ok but there are some things that make me wonder why they were designed the way they were. The on switch should be up at the top of the handle instead of being a foot switch where the reclining lever used to be for something like 100 years of Hoover vacuums. To recline the handle now requires I reach around with my foot and step on the front of the machine while forcing the handle down. It's very awkward and silly to change a design that worked for a century. And the rug height adjustment is a little touchy. I set it around medium and started vacuuming a very low rug and didn't know the belt was slipping until I smelled rubber burning. Oops. Once I learned to dial the height properly the vacuum does a pretty good job of cleaning pet hair and dirt from carpet. I had been vacuuming with a shop vac and thought my rugs were fairly clean, but the Hoover with the spinning brushes managed to pull out a lot more dirt that I missed. Emptying the canister is straightforward. I take it outside and blow it with a leaf blower. I can't imagine getting it sufficiently clean any other way without using water. These disposables were a life saver as we struggled to find washable bottoms that fit our Yorkie/Schnauzer mix, Its been challenging to find a vet to spay her during Covid so we were not prepared for the blood stains everywhere she sat her bottom. These wont disappoint. Fit true to size.Lady

Very disappointed in these. The primary problem is the closure, but is not the only issue. My sweet girl is free of them in a minute after I put them on her. The plastic-like outer layer had to be uncomfortable. I will be purchasing something different going forward.Theresa

There was only ONE tab, not two. I had to tape my diaper in order for it to stay on my dog. These diapers are the WORST diapers I’ve ever seen. The instructions and all the pictures say there’s two tabs. I had to get long pieces of clear tape and tape the side that didn’t have the tab and the side with the existing tab to make sure it wouldn’t come off. I tried to put the first one back on my dog and there were holes in it when I took it off once because I had to tape it. I’ve never seen such poor quality things. I could’ve made a diaper and it would still be better than these diapers and I’m not the crafty type. If there was a zero star option I would put that. These are absolutely horrible.Human
