I have used Happy Jack 40+ years but after moving off the farm 15 years ago forgot all about it and began using holistic medications, etc. Well, I do rescue and got a little jack russell with 70% of her body scarlet, oozie red, infected red ears, thick red, hairless legs, tail, chest and face. My dog was scratching constantly causing hot spots an scratches that bled a little not to mention she had this smell that's was offensive. I bought all mange treatments from happy jack… I have a white pit with enlarged paw found out it was NOT yeast like the lying vet said it was…..another vet told me it was cancer? only after years of bull! money sucking vet visits! to find out it was mange attacking the animals for YEARS ! I bought this first time for Pnut (Peanut). It made him nutty and neurotic. It did something horrendous to him. He did great with "calming" chews that have suntheanine (an amino acid) I saved it away in a drawer… this stuff lasts for years because it is a tincture with glycerine. Pnut died. The product works great, however read this carefully to determine the quantity to order, the website is misleading. The manufacturer sells the product in 1 gram (small dog), 2 gram (medium dog), and 4 gram (large dog) sizes. Each package contains 3 packets to be given over 3 days. In order to get the correct amount for your dog's weight, you may need to order more than one package. According to the manufacturers instructions, you need to administer one gram of product (daily) for every ten pounds of animal weight. So, up to: 10 lbs = 1 gram; 20 lbs = 2 grams; 30 lbs = 3 grams; 40 lbs = 4 grams; 50 lbs = 5 grams; 60 lbs = 6 grams, etc. So, if your dog weighs 11 to 20 lbs, you need to order a 2 gram (medium dog) size and give him 1 packet per day for 3 days. But if your dog weighs 21-30 lbs, you need to order a 1 gram (small dog) AND a 2 gram (medium dog) package, and give your dog a packet from each size for 3 days. The product is a powder; many dogs will not eat it on dry food, so if you usually feed your dog dry food, mix it in with some wet dogfood and most dogs will chow it down. A puppy was pretty much dropped in my lap several days ago, her belly was SO bloated as she hadn't had any vet care prior. Before even getting her home I pondered the wormers at our local Petco, selected this one. On day 3 the worms came out, though her poor bloated belly was reduced after the first day. Will use this again if worming can't wait for the vet. Due to her weight we did have to weigh out the medicine (half a gram ='s 1/4 teaspoon), and you must have an accurate weight on the dog and an accurate measuring device for it to be as effective as it can be without giving too much. I went with the Safeguard brand because I've been using the livestock version for other animals with success. She ate it fine with cooked chicken/broth mixed into her kibble.Mandy R
during the late fall to the end of winter I give these to my dogs to prevent worms. Then early spring I switch over to Heartguard. You get three packs. I use two packs per dog per month. Each pack 40 pounds. Total 80 pound dog. Sprinkle in with a quarter cup of warm broth, stir well. pour over their dry food and blend in. They won't notice and eat their food. Sneaky but, it works. This medication has been prescribed to my pet until the end of his life. He has some urinary issues alone with some other problems. My 3 dogs got sprayed. I used this once and the smell was gone. This shampoo smells good but it does not lather well. I used almost a full bottle on my dogs. Two have short hair, but my shepherd mix has a lot of fur. I left it on for several minutes as I rubbed it in their fur It rinsed off well. I received the 32 ounce bottle of "De-Skunk Odor Destroying Shampoo" and have used it on my dog once already. This shampoo has a very cinnamon/black licorice smell to it. It is a VERY strong smell which my dog did not like at all, she actually kept sneezing when I was bathing her and she has never done that with other shampoos before. This shampoo is not very runny which I liked because a lot of dog washes are and you tend to use way too much and waste it. This shampoo also lathered up very nicely with little effort. I liked how I was able to really massage this into my dog's coat. This shampoo left my dog's coat nice and shiny afterwards too. Instructions say to allow this shampoo to sit on your pet for 3-5 minutes before rinsing it off. I really liked the fact that this shampoo does not remove the topical flea and tick treatments that are used on the back of the dog's neck. This is a great shampoo for any dog owner to have on hand. Love these kits. I have the small kit that I keep in my truck at all times and then a larger kit that I always have with me when on big hikes as well as in my off-grid camping trailer. With 3 dogs, all of which have health issues (and are magnets for trouble) this is a must.
