This is my third one of these collars. I have tried other brands as well as more expensive collars made by pet safe and continue to find this is simply the best collar for my needs. We have a St Bernard and he is very self willed but he respects and responds well to the collar. He likes a good swim to the summer and I find this collar is not exactly water proof that is why we are on our third one also the first two we bought were second hand. That being said we just take the collar off after a swim remove the batteries and let it dry out and we are good to go again.downhome-45

This collar did not work that well for my needs, however a dog owner w a different breed, say a small or med dog w a short coat, probably be perfect. I have 2 100lb German shepherds w winter coats still shedding. Not easy for diodes to connect. Once connected, it works. Also takes time and effort training no matter what.ncpc45

This took my husband and I about a couple of evenings to install. You bury the lead wire around the perimeter you don't want your fur baby to cross and the collar is light and works nicely! I have a jack Russel/Chihuahua that likes to snoop and sneak out of the yard and this little device has solved that problem. I only needed to use the tone mode and that worked fabulously. I bought an additional collar for my blue heeler. She is a bit more strong willed and faster, so static mode worked for her. I'm thankful for this! It gives me peace of mind that my furry loved ones are safe.Ohosford

I installed this fence for my dog on a town lot that was around .25 acres. I must say you should definitely read the instructions fully before just starting this installation as you have to do some prep work, and this is not simply a plug and play fence if you want to trench it in. I think if there was an existing fence or something you could probably get away with just hanging the boundary wires directly to it but chances are that is not the case always. In my case I used a spade to kinda make the trench on my laid-out boundary line. I did this after a heavy rain as that made the task by hand much easier than the ground being rock hard like it is when it is dry. I stepped on the ground with my body weight after the installing the wire to kind of tamp the ground back in place and let mother nature do the rest over time to get the ground to settle. I did have to cross my driveway and really just shoved the wire in the expansion joint and shoved it down as far as I could. I just have to be conscience that I do not pierce the wiring when doing my edging. For my lot it took quite a bit of the 500 feet of included wire even though I consider it to be a pretty small lot. My dog has used wireless electric collars before so the training was not so difficult, but I did put out the included flags on the boundary line during training to make sure the boundary training went smoothly. The collar fit my dog nicely. As far as hooking up the boundary lines to the transmitter it was easy. I installed the plug-in wall unit in my garage and actually drilled a hole through a brick wall to get the boundary wire outside. I used caulk to seal off the hole with the wire to protect the weather and critters getting into my garage through the access hole. As I mentioned that since I have used wireless systems with my dog before the training was minimal and the system is working nicely.Country Man

We do not have a fence in our backyard and have to constantly leave our Poodle on a 30 foot leash when she runs around backyard. But I hate that she is even on a leash and can't run and live free. This fence is a perfect solution since we can not afford to install a proper yard fence. We set up the boundaries and it was easy to follow directions. I purchased the cat collar since she is a 8lb poodle this collar is much more soft and less bulky for her to wear daily. We put on vibration mode and she has been trained easily to remain in the property boundaries. I love the PetSafe Classic in ground fence. I highly recommend.Orlandomama

We absolutely ADORE this product for our dog! She is a mixed breed whose dominant behaviours reflect her Australian Cattle Dog DNA, and when she gets fixated on something (our cat, our food, us) this Pet Correcter is the only thing we've found that can bring her out of the fixation. We tried the coins in a can, the clicker, a whistle, other devices, and this is the one to which she responds every time. We love that it's not harmful, it hasn't caused her any kind of startle or nervous behaviours upon hearing the sound, and it has enabled us to use verbal 'hisses' when we don't have it at hand to break her fixation. So I bought this today , mostly out of because my nerves are gone from a dog I have that barks at EVERYTHING. I have other dogs and if they even move to change their laying position or I get up to go into other room, she barks non stop. So when I went into the store today and talked to the team member about what I was wanting and her behaviors she suggested this product. I came home and when she started barking and I told her to stop and when she didn't I sprayed it.,it was an IMMEDIATE quiet. then she did it again and I said no, she continued to bark so I sprayed it again. and WOW she stopped. I have to say I am so happy right now, with having 4 dogs 3 of whom like to bark it is hardly ever quiet in here, someone moves or knocks on door or it is feeding time it is a mad house in here. I have a dog who had a very bad and dangerous habit of chasing cars. I tried everything to fix this including: high frequency sounds, treats and positive reinforcement, training, vibrations, physically restraining and even an e collar. Nothing worked, at least not consistently. I bought a can of this and my dog has stopped chasing cars after the FIRST spray! I dont even have to use it, just the sight of the can and he goes on his best behavior. It also has remedied excessive barking. Is this item a replacement for the RFA-577 model? The button on the training collar wore out and will not turn on the module anymore. I have gotten a solid two years out of the collar and I am very pleased with the results of responsible training for my dog. *Dominoe is a very well behaved dog and I am constantly getting compliments on his behavior. The remote is still in great shape so I'm in search of just the collar module. Thanks for any help and insight. I bought this collar about a month ago. It already doesn’t work. The on and off button does not work and I’m extremely frustrated considering the money I paid for it and had hoped to buy another set of collars and control as I have 4 dogs.TiffLy

I have a pup that is a large breed, he looks like I been feeding him steak and potatoes cause he's so dang big. He is ALL puppy though. Chews on everything loves running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Been trying to train him to chill with me, yeah, right. He wants to play. And because he wants to play, he wants to run every stinkin where. Decided, for my sanity as well as his safety, I'd get this thing. Put the flags out, set it on a low static charge, and it didn't take long before he figured it out. You DO have to WORK a dog with this. It's not just a plug it up and watch their hair shoot up when they get popped. Walked him around the perimeter for 7 days, he sees and sniffs the flags. After that, I let him run around, and he got popped maybe 3 times, and figured it out. Now he's pretty dang happy, and I can let him rip around with zoomies while I work in the yard. I have a 2 yr old LARGE French Mastiff that weighs 180ish! I bought with the (red in color) “stubborn” collar. We previously installed a wired underground fence. (Which I have to mention took 2 FULL DAYS TO INSTALL AND READY TO USE!!) My Bo would realize he was close to the boundary, take a step or two back then take a run right through it, with no second thought!!! We watched him do this several times. I guess he was thinking, well this is going to hurt but only for a few short seconds. Idk?? But it did NOT phase him one bit! I had talked to 4 or 5 people that had this system, so reluctantly I decided to give it a try. I thought to myself well if it doesn’t work I will simply return it, no harm no foul. My boyfriend had it installed and collar on Bo in 30 mins flat. We walked ole hard-headed Bo around maybe 4 times to show him the boundaries. Once he heard the beeping, he kept walking then he felt the shock 1 time and that must have been enough because he never ventured close again! It has been about 2 months of use and I would give it 100 STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION! We live in a subdivision where houses are fairly close. I was ultimately worried that the zone would lead into the neighboring yard. (which was the #1 thing we are trying to prevent) And although it may, Bo doesn’t even attempt to go that far. I believe he now understands to stay in his own yard! Living in a subdivision, many people take walks and Bo just sits and watches them now!! Matter of fact, just to see, we have sent him outside WITHOUT the collar and ironically enough HE STAYS IN OUR YARD!! The ONLY complaint I have is the small clear piece on the collar broke off the first time I went to adjust the strength of the shock. So far it hasn’t effected anything so fingers crossed on that! Just an FYI, we set ours on a level 3 to begin with and my boyfriend was ready to give up, so I told him to have some patience and we just kept adjusting the level on the collar and we ended up discovering for Bo he needed to be set on a #6. Again, I repeat he weighs 180 lbs, and the Mastiff bread is KNOWN for their stubbornness. I would suggest starting at the lowest level for a smaller dog PLEASE! One gate was broken when it arrived. They were both so poorly made I could see they would not hold up with use. Found same design gates at Petco. For lower price. In addition the return process to Walmart was not simple. But your employees in the Redding store were very helpful. Especially Kimberly.Cheri

This gate does not stay put well at all. The tension does not hold it in place with just about any level of pressure. I used it as a dog gate and my puppy just knocks it down without much force. It really only works if he doesn't go near it. I even tried to use it on my back porch but it just fell down the stairs from the wind and scared the puppy. He didn't even touch it. Maybe this would work well in a new construction home with perfectly flat walls or doorways, but I live in a historic home built in the 1890s. All the doorways have original wood trim. I cannot get this gate to stay put in any of our doorways reliably at all. Two stars because it's cute and inexpensive, so maybe it works for some people; very flimsy construction though and it doesn't stay in the doorway well at all.jessica.s

Not very sturdy and difficult to set up properly. As noted in a previous review, the mechanism does not slide properly so you can fit the gate snugly and easily to the door opening. I finally discovered if you turn the whole thing upside down, the slide seems to release and works when you turn it right side up again. When you finally get it in place, the bottom doesn't fit snugly and you have to tug on each side and pull it towards each side of the door opening. If you have patience, it might work well for a small animal, but my 25 pound puppy knocked it over easily, never mind the adult dogs. If you want something reliable, keep shopping. You'll probably have to spend more money to get something sturdier. I'm still looking.dltcd

Loved this remote control trainer! We have been using an older model and this one feels so high tech!! My favorite thing about it is the option to have 2 dogs on the same controller! My second favorite thing is that it is rechargeable! No more dead collars, remotes or wasting $$ on batteries! Dogs were very responsive to it-one just needs to hear the sound, while the other gets a little more distracted and needs something more! 3 different settings give a nice variety to choose from! An extra “feature” that I wouldn’t have thought of is the shape/size of the controller-it was really designed with the user in mind! It is a little high tech at first, but very easy to learn!Susie

I got this product to replace an older model that I have had for years for a yellow lab. He is generally well behaved, it is just times he gets a little too excited and forgets to listen. First off the fact that this has static and vibration built into one is awesome. I feel much better using the vibration only and my dog responds well to it. I like know the static feature is there for more of a back up. The unit was very easy to set up and understand. The daily use is very simple, although I would like the buttons to be more pronounced, as I usually have the controller in my pocket. Range has not be an issue at all, although I am generally close by so I can’t see that ever being an issues. The only “cons” I have found so far are the strap for the collar seems a little flimsy and the “lanyard” for the controller could be longer. Over all, I would absolutely recommend this product. As I said, I am using it for a yellow lab (he is 83 lbs.) and have zero issues!Sprout004

I've been loving getting to know and use this training collar. I have a one year old Golden Retriever who listens fairly well but occasionally loses focus and tends to bolt (to birds, squirrels, great smells, etc.) and I needed something to snap his attention back to me. This collar so far has been excellent for that. I LOVE how many settings it has. So far, I've been lucky enough to only have to use the tone – it's just enough to snap him out of his focus (or lack there of 😉 ) and listen to me. I enjoy that it allows for vibration before static as well. The collar itself is very adjustable. I love that it's waterproof. 600 yards is great too, we have several acres and it gives me peace of mind that even if my boy makes it further than usual, I can still reach him. My only personal downside is the remote buttons. They're fairly hard to press with my arthritic hands. I understand they shouldn't be too easy so as to not accidentally be depressed when not meaning to. Not a deal breaker at all – again, just my own downside. I really like that I can charge the remote and collar at the same time with the charger. So far the charge has lasted longer than expected too. All in all, a great tool for your training toolbox!seajay

Bought this for conditional bark training of our English Shepherd- we want him to bark, just NOT in the house, so we need to be able to stop it when we want, not all the time like a bark collar. As another reviewer notes, NOT WATERPROOF. There is a little rubber door on the back over the charge port, but even if you flip it closed and press it down it still springs back up; it gets bent while charging and keeps that shape. Doesn't take much of a gap to suck in water when said puppy loves going for a morning swim in the pond… It hasn't been working recently, so I opened the rubber cover and water dripped out… took it apart and it was ALMOST FULL OF WATER. So much for waterproof! Corrosion on the components shows it's been like this for some time, and just went out. Save your money and get a brand-name unit. This one is not worth the time, unless you can GUARANTEE your pet will NEVER get it wet.NickLPlated

I recently purchased this collar at my local Walmart after reading good reviews. It works great when it is charged up. I've purchased collars online that lasted a while before charging but decided to get this one instead of waiting. Charge time is a couple hours which is fine. Use time, minimal. I charge it full every 1-2 days, that's about how long it lasts on a charge. This is basically the standby time it lasts. With frequent use, you may be looking at daily charging, if not twice a day. In general, the collar is great and does what it's supposed to do. The battery life is the worst part.Robert

I bought a Beagle pup for my kids for Christmas 3 years ago. Little did I know that this little tiny puppy would grow up to put me through more stress and worry than anyone deserves. "Stubborn" just does not cover it. He would get out the house and run and run and run. I'd call his name or try to chase him and he would just run further and further away. He almost gave me a heart attack when he ran into an extremely busy 4 lane highway one morning on one of his runs. I truly thought he was a goner. I have spent so much money on trying to contain him and literally nothing I tried worked. I found the Premier Pet 300 Yard Trainer at Walmart in the pet isle. I had researched the remote control collars and couldn't bring myself to pay upwards of 200+ for something I was skeptical would work in the first place. The price of the 300 Yard Trainer set was around $50 which made me even more skeptical about whether or not it would work. Had I known just how well it did work then I would have paid triple for it. One session was all it took to see a complete turn around in my dog. He does not leave my side when we go out, and if he does wander away a little all I have to do is call him and he IMMEDIATELY returns to me. I truly cannot express how grateful I am for this product. Not only is it affordable but it REALLY works. You can also add a second collar if you have more then one dog. Some people think it's cruel to give a dog a shock, but I truly believe that that one shock probably saved my dogs life. To keep him out of the busy highway I would gladly do it again. Obviously your results will depend on your dog and how you use this, but this was an invaluable tool for training our dog. Some details: 1) We find that the charge lasts a couple of days (we take it off and turn it off at night when the dog is sleeping). 2) Range is at least a few hundred yards. Never have tested out to the advertised 400 yd range. 3) The vibrate feature is very helpful (and pretty much the only thing we have had to use since the initial training). 4) The "Nick" shock feature is a great attention getter for the dog. 5) The range of shock levels provides everything from you can hardly notice it to pretty intense.In PDX

I purchased this and trained my dog Neko with it with a professional trainer a few months ago. This device was a lifesaver. Neko is a Shiba inu and they are extremely high energy, love to run and are very intelligent and curious. Neko escaped my fenced yard 4 times by digging, and I have heard that some Shibas can jump and scale fences up to 8ft. So I defitly needed something. I’ve tested this on myself and the “shock” is not so bad if you stay below 20 it just allows the dog to “hear” you in stressful or loud/distracting situations, and it lets them connect the command with the action without you chasing them or forcing them into it. I associate the commands sit, stay, Come, place, free, off and heel with the unit and now she is such an amazing dog, and I don’t have to worry!!eri.v

It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. Battery life not best, no off switch for remote, and you can only do 2 choices quickly (tone and vibrate or tone and static) only negatives. We use tone and static due to our dogs thick fur/ response.WMA6

I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! A very nice quality tool for affecting dog behavior, but the C02 cartridges hardly last 2 days even when being judicious as to how many times you release the air. I saw an ad indicating that I should get about 50 bursts per cartridge. I doubt if I got 15 bursts on the first replacement cartridge. And if that wasn't bad enough, the cartridges are roughly $2 per cartridge buying a minimum of 10 through eBay sources. I went locally to pet supply places Care-A-Lot, Pet Smart, and about 2-3 other places and nobody knew what the cartridges were or where I could find them. They are a different size than C02 cartridges used in pellet guns. On the positive side, hopefully the Pet Convincer II will a do a good job of correcting pet behavior before I run out of replacement cartridges.k.baum

I got this card free with my camera, but it exceeded my expectations. It works pretty fast considering the price. However, if you want lightening writing speed, you may want to check out other options. I use my camera casually and it works perfect for me. This came as part of my package with my camera and I thought it would be great! NOPE, I had an emergency shortly after I got my camera and needed to go to a kiosk to get a picture printed off my memory card Immediately. The card could not be read by a KODAK kiosk (and I am using a KODAK camera). The only thing that really helped in this case was the fact that I had the Kodak Easy Share Printer Dock and I could print directly, once I downloaded the pics off the memory card. Therefore this was a serious let down.chefddr

This is an amazing product, once fitted properly it works perfectly and now my dog has loads more freedom off lead especially in high wildlife areas (that is mostly in our town boundary). The Dogtra Arc collar is just what my American Treeing Feist, 11 month puppy needed. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around. I am dog trainer, I have been using Electric Collars for over 15 years. I was married with another major brand for me it was the best brand on electric collars I even refused to try new ones. One day I was traveling to a seminar in Denver with my Mondioring sport dog and the TSA at the airport remove my 2 electric collars from my carry on bag. Once in the seminar I met a participant who has an extra 300TS and she offered to sell the collar to me I was in need of a collar so I agree and bought the collar from her. At the end of the 1rst day of the seminar I was almost convinced that the 300TS was superior to my other collars even my most expensive one. When I came back home I begin trying the 300TS with new dogs and I found it was far superior at every level. Let's begin, the handheld unit is very light and still fell very solid the buttons placement are very intuitive and is almost impossible to deliver the wrong correction to your dog, The vibration mode can be switched to sound mode which is the way I train my recall I always disable the vibrate mode and use the sound mode this great with skeptical people around electric collars. There is 2 delivery buttons the black which is the stem mode and the red which is the boost and deliver up to 20 times your stem level but thiscan be modified to fit you dogs needs, The level of electricity can be locked making impossible to shock your dog. The receiver has light which it can be us as flashlight or to locate your dog in those real dark nightsringdogs

Highly recommend! My dog never came when called . Now she does . She had other really unwanted behaviors that we had such a hard time getting rid of like nipping at our knees to get attention, pulling on her collar, bark at other dogs, and even rip the leash out of our hands while trying to walk her and run crazily through the backyard. We've tried everything- positive reinforcement, harnesses, muzzles,all types of collars and leashes-nothing…ever…worked… After a bit of training I don’t even have to press the button, She knows it’s there. We are now working on off-leash training and it's working beautifully.Heidi D.

It took me awhile to really use this product consistently, but I'm glad I did. I have a stubborn bulldog mix that I rescued from my local animal shelter and she had lots of bad habits that were getting worse over time. My dog's biggest problems were leash pulling, not listening to come/sit, jumping on our bed and – worst of all – aggression toward other dogs, usually while on walks, and even my husband. I looked into sending her away to a local training camp that was very expensive. When I got their paperwork, one of the terms of agreement was you had to buy and use this model of training collar. Before spending thousands of dollars, I decided to try to train her myself using this collar and send her to camp if it didnt work since I would have to buy and learn to use the collar either way. I highly recommend educating yourself properly first before you start training your dog with ANY e-collar. I watched all of the training videos on the official e-collar technologies website, ecollar.com, and that helped alot with training my dog. Now, walks are actually fun and I'm not worried about my dog hurting my husband or other dogs, and I'm not stressed out by my dog's behavior anymore. I cant emphasize enough to start slow with the remote to avoid freaking the dog out – a lot of bad behavior comes from anxiety and fear, you don't want to make it worse. This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. I feel this is really helping the bond with my dog and therefore training is improved.MountainGSD

I bought the Dogtra 280C to use with my very active and agile 1 year old Toy Austrailian Sheppard for stopping unwanted behaviors like digging up my lawn and attacking the cat. The transmitter and receiver both hold charges for days, and easily sync by just holding the two units next to one another at the red dots for a second. The 1/2 mile range is more than enough to reach out and touch her for a friendly reminder to come in for supper. The LCD screen is super nice to see stimulation level at night or when I don't have my glasses with me. My girlfriend owns my dogs twin brother, he also needed corrective training, therefor being as pleased as I am with the performance of my Dogtra 280C, I couldn't help but buy one for her to use with him as well.Red Dogg 47

I was scared of e-collars. But this morning we had the most excellent training session with my huge puppy. He gets to run and play and explore and his recall was PERFECT for the first time thanks to the collar! We're early in the training, but I am SUPER impressed so far. Just amazing.dferret

While I didn't love the smell of this, it fulfilled it's purpose. My significant other I adopted a puppy last summer, and her previous owner clearly made no effort to train her. We had to start potty training from scratch, and nothing was working until we got this spray. Anytime she had to go she would just drop to pee wherever she was. As soon as we got this spray all of our issues disappeared. I would spray this on the wee wee pads in the house, and when we went out for walks I would spray it on the ground. As soon as we started using this she was able to grasp the concept right away, and we are now approximately 6 months without accidents 🙂kaelynn.t

Got this from Petco and was shocked at how bad it smelled. I read the other reviews and thought maybe it would fade but not only didn't it, the smell was on my hands bec the bottle leaks. Plus, my puppy was actually turned off by it. The smell lingered into the hallway of my building. I used every cleaning product I could to get rid of it. I think it's been about 10 hours now and it's finally gone. Honestly, even if my puppy hadn't been disgusted by it, and had it worked, I would never spray such an awful smelling product again.bev50

The smell of this stuff is absolutely oppressive. Before we even opened the package we could smell it. It's like… stale horse urine that's been roasting in the sun. HOWEVER…. IT REALLY WORKS. We're training our puppy to use a small grass patch in our home with about a 25% success rate. Within 2 days of using this spray she used the grass patch 75% of the time. One week later she ONLY uses the patch! Plug your nose, light a candle, spray some febreze, whatever you have to do. It was totally worth it.xatia.x
