The medium Kurgo harness fits my 23 pound dog well. The harness itself is incredibly sturdy – I was actually surprised by how “heavy” it is. The blue color is nice and the reflective material is an added bonus. The harness slips on over the dog’s head then buckles closed on each side. So far, it has been very easy and fast to put it on and take it off my dog. The leash clips are positioned in such a way (middle of back) that makes it easy to walk the dog without her choking herself (a problem we have with our old harness) from pulling. The harness is a bit stiff, however, so it’s not good for car rides where dog needs to lie down for long periods. The only concern we have is the loops to clip the leash to don’t seem as sturdy as the rest of the harness. The are a thinner aluminum that bends easily. Overall, I am impressed with this harness and recommend it.Ndanip
I love Kurgo products and think they are great quality, but was disappointed in this harness. If you have a barrel chested dog and want to attach a leash to the front D ring (my pup is a puller, so that was the whole reason we bought this), I wouldn't recommend this harness. I have a 14 month old standard poodle (45 lbs) and we bought a medium as she fit smack dab in the middle of those measurements. Unfortunately, the harness just doesn't fit deep-chested dogs. The neck opening is weirdly large and can't be tightened very much so after adjusting the harness to fit her, the front D ring ended up right between her front legs. We couldn't attach a leash to the front ring because she would stumble over it while we walked. Seems like Kurgo could fix this pretty easily by just moving the front D ring higher to be closer to the neck opening, but unfortunately not easy to fix/solve the issue at home. We'll be donating this as it unfortunately doesn't work for us.torvinn
My boyfriend has the Nylon Reflective Journey Air Dog harness (M), which looks like this harness mixed with the Tru-fit harness kind of. I have this Journey Air Dog harness (M) for my GSD/husky mix. We have a couple of issues with this specific model of the Journey harness. She has an athletic build with a pretty deep chest that is also narrow as heck, and due to the longer padding on the top of the chest piece, I'm unable to adjust it enough so that it fits her well. It renders the front D-ring useless, as the harness will pull to the side of her body loosely. Unfortunately, sizing down would mean that it would not be able to fit around the deepest part of her ribcage. The other issue I have with this harness is that I'm nervous it chaffs the back of her armpit area. It's pretty snug up against the backs of her legs–maybe even too snug. I would size up, but then that would exacerbate the issue with the front. I'm almost certain it's an unpleasant experience for her as she runs away when I so much as pick up the harness. I brought up the fact that my boyfriend has this type of harness (but a different/earlier model) because I am able to adjust that one well to my dog. None of the issues present in my harness are present in the other one, likely because of the smaller chest padding. I would go to the Tru-Fit harness for my pup, but we go hiking a bunch, and the handle on the back is a must-have. What is probably the most upsetting is that I cannot find this other model of harness in stock and in the size we need anywhere as of today. I simply cannot recommend this harness if your pup has a narrow chest.2dogs1cat

Pluses: Hitching my dog (border collie cross 16" neck, 22" chest) to the chest ring on a Size L harness stopped her pulling. The harness is lightweight, easy to get on and off, and seems to be comfortable. Minuses: Unfortunately the nylon webbing that secures the chest attachment ring has frayed after approximately 10 walks. I believe that the edges of the slot where the nylon webbing threads through the steel attachment ring are machined with edges that are too sharp. They are essentially sawing through the nylon webbing (see photos), especially I'm guessing when the ring is under tension. I just noticed maybe a 1/4 inch tear Monday, then checked the harness after our walk yesterday and the tear had visibly extended about halfway through the attachment webbing. I purchased two harnesses, so I used the second harness this morning. The same damage already is beginning to happen. To me the real issue here is the harness has been used for a couple weeks as intended, and that ring sits low on the chest. And unless you check your dogs' leash gear like you're a parachute rigger there is a potential not to see the damage, and that makes this unequivocally a product safety issue.Dogboy

My dogs is very active and like to put her head out the window when I drive so I got her a really sturdy harness that I could trust in because i let my dog put her head out the window and I don't want her to fall or her harness to give up and brake. I recommend this harnesses to everyone with crazy dogs. This is the best harness I've ever had very strong and durable l. I get had mine for about 4 years and it's like brand new not to mention I walk my dogs everyday and it hasn't worn outapril.p
This is a great harness for dogs! It has a handle on the top so that you can hold your dog that way. The leash can be attached on the chest side – which allows you to have better control of which way the dog goes. The leash can also be attached on the back. Plus it comes in XL – which is a big help when you have a giant dog like we do. After buying this harness, I will never buy any other brand. I have the black version of this harness for both of my puppies. One is a beagle and the other is part pitbull and part maltipoo, it works beautifully for both of them. The harness is heavy duty while staying relatively light weight. The buckle system takes a little bit of getting used to, but it is pretty much impossible for the dogs to get out of on their own. The harness has a lot of room for adjustment, so it can be fit perfectly for your pup.taylor.s

I brought two of these a couple of months ago, one dog it works great. My other dog has managed to tie himself in knots around the seatbelt, tried with and without the extension to control his movements and he still ties himself up in knots. Worse he has managed to have the D-ring tear through a seatbelt. He has both slipped out of the harness and managed to undo the seatbelt. At first it helped with is nervousness travelling but now he has turned in HoudiniGlovair
Ever since my first Kurgo booster seat, I’ve been a huge fan. These harnesses are no exception, and are the perfect companion for the booster seat lineup. I’ve had to “brake check” one of my dogs to keep him from trying to get out of his seat with the little leverage he has in his seat. He “backpeddled” back into his seat and it didn’t take long for him to realize that he’s safe in his seat with his harness. Not only does Kurgo offer exceptional quality products (I have MANY things), they stand behind them with their lifetime guarantee. I’ve had a few things needing replacement over the years, and Kurgo honors their lifetime warranty with integrity. I was on vacation 2 weeks ago and a lady said she had the exact same harness for her dog, and we talked about how great Kurgo and their products are. Just knowing the lifetime warranty is honored warranty the price tag I’m happy to pay…..not to mention the quality of it with the materials used. Kurgo puts a lot of thought behind their products.Beans
I actually bought 4 of theses harnesses and really like the overall design and felt my dogs were safe in the car. However I totally hate the metal buckles as some of them do not buckle very easy. I had to file them down to make them easier to manipulate. And for someone with arthritis putting them on is a struggle, certainly not buckle and go, more like fiddle and fiddle and go. Another thing is if dog turns around everything at the top gets tangled into a big mess. They really should product test what they sell with all kinds of dogs. They are made reasonably well but skimp in the seam fabric which come apart in some areas after even hand washing which then causes fraying of edges. I would pay more if they would fix these problems. Thank you. Their customer service though I found excellent.Esher

I have a Mini Australian Shepherd puppy, and this harness is so good!! The way the leash attachment “floats” along the dorsal strap makes it work really well no matter where he is in relation to me (front/back/side), and it had really helped him learn not to pull, because unlike a collar it’s not actually unsafe for him to test his limits (so I dont have to try and keep him from doing it, just address when it happens). I wish the metal buckle version came in blue!!clausti
Good product, comfortable for dog, easy to adjust for size differences, holds up well for changing weather conditions and stress from use. I have purchased three harnesses in the last two years, all for the same dog as he grows. Only problem is where the harness crosses the dog's back and where it adjusts under the belly. When the harness is attached to a leash on the back clip, it slips and shifts until the back clip and leash attachment is hanging on the dog's side. And where the harness has two fixed adjustments near the dog's belly where the harness is held in place by snaps, the snaps aren't strong enough to stay closed when the dog moves, so the straps going through those loops shift and slip until the harness is out of adjustment. Together with the problem of the loose strap on the dog's back, for a large dog like I have, the harness is always twisted or loose unless I make some reinforcing stitches at those two key junctions. The first harness I purchased when the dog was smaller already had those two key junctions stitched and held in place. The next two harnesses needed to be stitched heavily by me in order to stay in place, which was difficult because the material is very tough and thick and isn't easily sewn by hand with a standard needle and thread. I don't know why the company stopped reinforcing those key junctions for the harnesses needed for large, strong dogs. Once the harness junctions are reinforced, the harness is good for a large dog being tethered or walked, and is easily put on and removed even if the dog doesn't hold still. I especially like the fact that the harness can be custom fit around both the neck and the chest, and from neck to back. That allows for long term use while the dog grows.
Purchased and selected size last year based on Kurgo size chart recommendation. Harness was way to large, at the smallest setting on our 56# Aussie. Also hooks/ slides on back of harness twist and turn, don't stay in place.. The adjustment slides don't stay in place in the front and the harness , after one pull is huge again. Quality materials but poor execution of design. Very expensive for what you get. And CS rep hanging up when I called spoke volumes. mes.Janesdog

I chose the Walk About Harness and a matching leash to use for my dog’s “working gear”. I’m training him to be a registered therapy dog and it was suggested that he have different gear for this. We call it his working gear so he knows the difference when I put the Kurgo harness and leash on instead of his nonworking harness and leash. He quickly learned the difference and it has helped immensely with his training.
Doesn’t hold up well to daily use; the metal strap adjusters cut into the straps with daily wear and I’ve already noticed tears in the straps where the adjusters are. This harness has been the first I’ve found that enables me to adjust it to fit my dog’s narrow front chest however it does not appear to hold up well to daily use. I would not purchase again since it appears the straps will tear and fall apart in a couple months.ShannonC
I really like that this has a front and back clip so we don't have to change out harnesses for walking and car rides. And there's a lot of room for adjusting the size, including the chest. Our golden has a narrow chest/shoulders and other no-pull harnesses would have a pretty big gap that would hang down. The only thing I'd say to watch out for is make sure the adjustable hooks on the chest piece are locked in place after sizing. One did slip out of place (while my dog was rolling around) but, the harness didn't like fall off or anything. And it hasn't happened since, so I think it was more owner error than anything else. Our golden seems to like it! It's quick to put on so she can get outside fast and seems to be comfortable for her.Bekah
13. Kurgo Journey Harness Padded Chest Control Handle Four Adjustment Pts

Absolutely super harness. Fits well and I LOVE that the little buckles have padding underneath them so there is no possibility of getting dog skin or hair stuck in the buckle. VERY well made, high quality. My little dog was always getting her short little legs all tangled up in the previous harness–got her little leg through the neck hole constantly. This one stays put. She wears it in her little car seat as her seat belt, so to speak. If I get in an accident, she is secure.dumbplan
Love it. Perfect size. Thanksdelseyrm
Ive been using Kurgo harnesses on my Frenchie ever since he was 10 weeks old! They are made of high quality materials, so be prepared for the weight on it (the metal is heavy duty). I use it for walking and it comes with a car seatbelt attachment, so I use it to keep him in place while driving. These harnesses dont have traditional buckles, but once you get the hang of them, youll never look back! Highly recommend it for any situation.adrystal2

I bought this harness because of the front clip for my dog who likes to pull. The clip on the front is very flimsy and I don’t trust it with her. This is really surprising because the rest of the harness’ hardware is HEAVY DUTY. I almost returned it but I love the heavy duty handle on it. Otherwise a very well made harness – I use it every day, just not for walks where she will pull. I went with a halti instead. I don’t know why they cheaped out on the front clip as the rest of the harness is fantastic. I will say the attachments for around the belly are a bit cumbersome to do with a large breed, long haired bouncy puppy. It’s the old fashioned belt clips and I sometimes have a hard time sliding it through with all the hair.CaucasianShepherd
Three years ago I bought this harness for my dog and loved it!! Metal fasteners can't be chewed through, fit well and very durable. We have used when traveling since then. We recently got another dog, so got another one but the woven straps are so slippery that I can't keep the harness adjusted. the sliding adjusters slips on th webbing. Somewhere along the way, you must have changed webbing suppliers.Yellow Iron Lady

Our dog is a large size dog and he pulls and wear us out just walking him. When we tug or pull hard on his leash, his neck takes the strain. Dogs will be dogs; he's checking everything out and does a lot of sudden moves, so it takes care of the jerks and quick snaps. We got the XLARGE because our dog weighs over 70 pounds. This harness makes him look like a K-9 Unit Dog; Special Forces Detective Dog. I looked at a couple of Kurgo videos and it was easy to put the harness on and adjust to fit. I slipped it over the dog's head, secured the 2 fasteners and adjusted them and it was GOOD MONEY! Easy peasy. The harness is constructed well with nylon and steel; you attach the leash on top or in the chest area. It's a whole different walking experience with your furry friend. We've never really had a harness with our dogs before and really like it for all the convenience it gives us. You can run the seat belt through it and make your dog stationary in the car, etc. You can do that with most of them. It's a very versatile and unique product. We like it and recommend The Kurgo Dog Harnesses. Darn, that's the END.themagicjungle
I have only been using this harness for a few days and I already love it! I had been looking for a harness with the front attachment for the leash in an attempt to control my dog’s tendency to pull a lot when we are walking, and this one definitely does the trick! Within 5 minutes of our first walk, my dog that normally walks me, was getting the hang of walking closer to my side. This thing is a life saver!! It seems extremely durable, all while not being super bulky. And, it’s super cute! Definitely a great buy! I was a little hesitant to buy this harness because it’s a little in the expensive side, but I am extremely happy with this purchase.Clh013
I’ve had this harness for almost three years now I think and it’s the only one I’ve ever bought my dog! She’s a 62# old English bulldog who is all muscle so traditional harnesses with plastic clasps really didn’t seem like they’d hold up over time because she’s so strong and definitely has a mind of her own sometimes! So I definitely needed something that wouldn’t break so easily down the line and have to worry about her getting out of it. I absolutely love the handle on top- it has come in handy as we have now had to do a second TPLO surgery and need to be able to help her outside and to help get her up when she’s laying down. If it weren’t stained from playing with her best friend it would still look like new! I will say the only thing I wish was that there was a size in between the medium and the large (or maybe if there had been a different style?) because it is a little big on her as far as the straps go, but not enough for her to get out of it. it might be because of her body size.Cstma

My emotional support cat/ adventure buddy goes on all of our hiking and camping adventures with us. Currently living in Alaska but we do a lot of traveling. He claimed this bag as his own the moment I brought it out of the bag and set it on the floor. He sleeps in it like it’s his own little sleeping bag. And when it’s time for hikes I found that the attachment lead on the inside was still a little too long to keep him from jumping out so I tied a knot in it which solved the problem. He has plenty of room to sit and look out or lay down and hide from the wind when it’s chilly outside. When I don’t tie him down he has figured out how to turn around and stand on the back with his paws and head on my shoulder so he can watch where we are going, and if he doesn’t want to walk he will turn himself around and slide down into the bag, so if I don’t put the rods in place inside the bag I just reach around and hold the back open for him. I tend to keep the rods attached in the back for more stability against my back. I like to do weekend back packing trips and I wish there was some sort of attachment piece that could hold more supplies and clip to the carabiner attachments at the bottom. Over all I love this bag, I find it comfortable and easy to use, instructions for the rod use was attached to the tag. Wish they attached a little better then just those little loops but or like another reviewer said attach on the outside somehow. In the mean time here are some photos of my guy living his bagDaniSpazz
I did a similar mod so thought I would share what I did. I'm not crafty so it's a little messy, but it works perfectly. I cut a hole in the existing roll-down flap, then used hot glue and double-sided bias tape to attach it. If I were to do it again, I would hot glue the mesh directly to the inside and glue bias tape on the edges outside to give it a finished look. I tried to get a pic of her inside with the flap down but she's black and gray so you can't tell she's in it. I'll probably add a couple very small mesh cutouts at the top of the bag. Took about two hours since, again, I am not at all crafty so went slow because I was convinced I'd ruin it. It hasn't been long enough to know how well it holds up but my dog is pretty chill and it seems very sturdy. Happy modding!Nichol
I bought this almost 3 years ago and have used it so much abs it’s held up like new this entire time. My dog weighs around 13lbs and loves going for rides. Brian is 16, hiking is much slower these days but now he can be included because of this backpack. It’s so comfortable to wear, I have never had any back or shoulder pain from wearing this for hours in a day hiking. I feel confident he’s comfortable the entire hike in this. Would absolutely recommend buying this, worth the cost. I love that you can set the bag down and it holds up or you can lay down as well. Brian is a jack russell and can sit down perfectly fine without being smashed. If you are considering buying this but are hesitant because it is pricy, I’m telling you that you will not regret spending the money on this. Brian is 16 and can no longer hike really and this has been a lifesaver for us. Because of this, he is included on hikes always.Brian recommends

I bought this seatbelt for my dog when we moved across Canada. I knew we would encounter wildlife on the road at some point and wanted to make sure she didn't go flying if we had to hit the brakes, which we did have to a few times. Every time an animal ran in front of us, it kept her secure. She is also anxious in the car, and tends to pace and stand on the center console – so the seatbelt keeps her in place so she doesn't block our vision. Today her seatbelt was put to the test. We were coming back from a trip to the dog park when we were hit going about 55 km/h, give or take. She is a 70lb dog and even with the huge impact (airbags deployed in the other car but not ours) she came out completely fine. If she hadn't been buckled in, she would have been thrown face first into the driver side window. The dog sustained no injuries (the rest of us did, even with our seatbelts) and we have Kurgo to thank! I absolutely recommend this product because you never know what's going to happen. It is fantastic, very simple design and super effective.Zsgoodwin
We purchased a Seat Belt Tether as an accessory to our Journey Dog Harness. What a great product – a seat belt for our dog – who knew? While driving once we had to make a fast stop that caused our dog to take a tumble from the Back seat into the space between the front seats in our van. Ever since then she has a little trauma and prefers to lay down when we drive. After seeing this product we thought we would give it a try and it works great. The metal tab fits our Dodge Caravan's seat belts perfectly. Thank you for a thoughtful and safe product!JandL
The belt is good quality. But when I first purchased this product, the part that goes into the buckle, somehow became bent whilst my dog was wearing it in our car, it also clicked out of the buckle and set him loose in the car. I spoke to PetCircle about this and they sent a new one. I recently used the new one, and the carabiner is unreliable, it can flick out of place and remain open. Basically the metal ware is not of good quality, and they are arguably the most important part of the seat belt. I've had 2 seat belts from this brand and both have been faulty in some way. I will not be using this product in my car. Luckily I have a different one, one that you tread the seatbelt through a loop, from a different brand, that is far more reliable. If you are after a car restraint do not buy this one in particular, its not reliable and certainly not worth risking my pets life.RUE

Reviews:
I have a pit/lab mix, and he hasn't been on many walks, even though he needs to to cut down a few extra lbs. I looked at the sizing chart, and he was right in between the 2 sizes, so I went with the bigger one because I wanted him to be comfortable. I dont know if size had anything to do with it, but I couldn't get it to lay flat on him. It comes with several adjustment spots, so I can make sure it fits him good. He seems to really like it, as compared to other harnesses we have used with him. The material is nice and padded, it seemed very comfortable for my dog. The leash attachment is also in a really good place to pull at his chest and not his neck. In the time using this, I have not noticed any issues with the zipper or with the quality. I'm excited to let my dog get out more!Alexandria
When we rescued our Westie/poodle mix, he had never walked on a leash and fought us to the point that we had to carry him a few blocks and then try to leash walk. This Stash and Dash harness is great. It is so easy to take off and on that Remy doesn't seem to notice. When I use the hook at the bottom of the harness he stops pulling and tugging. Added bonus is the fact you can pack it up into its own attached backup. Awesome product. He is 20 pounds and I got the small. Good fit with room to grow.Marti
This is a great harness because it is breathable and doesn't make my dog too hot. It also packs up into a small package that can be attached to a bag by the included caliber clip. You can also pack snacks and a little food in the pouch while your pup is wearing it. It also has nice metal clips at the chest and the rear of the front of the harness under the pouch. This is good for pups that like to pull instead of being led.Ladywolf1979

Reviews:
We started using this harness with our 4-month old English Setter on long car rides. Since it hooks through the seat belt strap she has some movement—she can spread out the length of the backseat. The fixtures are nice and heavy, giving me extra assurance of her safety. The harness is a bit too heavy for regular walks. Which works out fine, as our trainer recommended that we reserve this one for car use only. She also recommended not using the harness when our dog runs as it constricts shoulder movement. I glad I purchased it.JoanWT1127

We bought this about 3 months ago for our new puppy and thought it was a brilliant tool for our dog in the car. We loved it. We used it maybe 4 times/week is all and it was comforting to know our pup wouldn’t walk around inside the car, while we we’re driving down the road. Then, last week we noticed that the carabiner just broke out and we’re unable to get the prong back inside the carabiner to use it. So frustrating. We gently used it and it broke after very little usage. Will contact company for warranty coverage. Hopefully the carabiners used in this product get improved!Rocky
I like it because it is a good strong belt and the connector seems to be strong enough to hold if needed. I only gave it four stars because we have to put two of them together for our dog or he cannot move at all on the seat. A single belt loop pulls him up close to the seat belt and for some of our long trips (over 4 hours), that just doesn't work. So we put two together to give him some room to turn around and lay down. It would be nice if a single one was adjustable to different lengths.LuvRDogsNM
We originally bought it for its intended purpose of keeping our pup safe in the seat but I first used it to keep him in my office as a larger carabiner, and we use it in the car to keep Ace safely grounded in car between our 2 captain chairs in our minivan. He can still turn around and get comfy and he stays safe. Really enjoy this.Ace the bernedoodle
