Beautifully made harness for pulling. Size 4 for my oversize welsh terrier (14kg) fitted nicely – using the neck size as the primary guide. Required to be as short as possible due to the dog shape being square but plenty of adjustment range. High quality harness that feels like it will last well. Firstly, I never leave my harnesses on my dogs because they will chew through them. I take them off as soon as I get done with their walks. My dog weighs over 100 pounds and is very hyper. She would pull and drag me every single time I walked her. The first time I walked her with this harness she instantly stopped pulling. She does start to when she gets excited but immediately stops once she feels the pressures from the harness. This has helped 100%!!! I did see some reviews that said the seams were weak, this product doesn’t feel like the strongest material, although it has held up fine with us, at the same time it is way cheaper than most harnesses that have the comfort design made to fit large dogs. I adopted a pitbull. His biggest problem and almost only problem now is that he pulls ANYTIME we're outside. On walks, taking him to potty, anything. I bought this harness for him, only used it on one walk and the next day i took him outside and it broke. First I want to say for all your pet owners out there that keep a harness on their dog you're wrong you never keep a harness on a dog. Harnesses are meant just for walking them and then they are to be removed immediately if you read the package it even tells you never keep a harness on a dog. For all of you that left negative reviews learn how to use it if you knew what you were doing and you used it properly you would have no problems. Okay now let's get started with the review. I am a Professional Pet transporter and also an animal rescue. I have been using this harness for the past 7 years and recommend it highly to all of my customers and other rescues and shelters are now using this harness. I give this harness away free two families I see in rest areas in to homeless people to keep their dogs safe. The key is putting it on correctly which is not hard you must fit it to your dog and it must be tight or they can get right out of it as far as the ring goes on it it's made out of steel and it's welded it is not flimsy and for the person that left feedback about plastic Clips there are none. As I previously stated I bought two of these harnesses in two different sizes. A small and a medium as I was not sure which would work. The small is a great fit for my 13 lb Shih Tzu. But this is summer and she is shaved down. I am going to use the medium size for winter to go over her sweaters and coats. She is also is not shaved down for colder weather so I tend to buy larger sizes for the colder seasons. Besides the price was great.Marlene D

This is the best harness I have ever had for my lil shih tzu/yorkie mix. The only thing is he does not like me having to put his legs thru it and does not like anything being put over his head other than that its awesome! Absolutely love it! This harnass lasted exactly three minutes. I put it on my dog, adjusted it, and she chewed it for a second and it completely tore. The company acknowledges that it can not withstand even a quick nip from your dog. Ridiculously poor quality. Their answer is for you to spend another 12.99 for a warranty to get another harnass which will do the same thing. Awful product that is expensive. Dismissive and unethical customer service. There are many other good options for harnesses out there. Save your money and aggravation .Kerri R

I really like the product. The two connection points give me more control over my reactive dog. A few months after purchase I noticed some of the nylon was unraveling near one of the box stitches. I contacted the company and provided pictures and they replaced it right away. Great product and great service.

Just know that this isn’t a miracle product that will completely stop your dog from pulling. It’s not a replacement for training. YOU as the owner have to teach your dog proper leash manners. But if you want more control, or you have a reactive dog, I definitely recommend this.Rachel Cormier

This has been a major breakthrough with my crazy pulling dog! We have tried several other collars as well as a harness that had more of a collar and only attached to the leash on the back. This is an excellent harness. It's well padded for comfort, and made strong. My dog was right on the border between sizes, so I bought small and medium. The small adjusted to fit, and the medium was a tad too big at the smallest adjustment. But I donated it – it's too nice not to put to use. Bought this burnt orange harness for my liver gsp. When she goes hunting in the woods on these dark mornings it is difficult to see where she is …so this colour harness is a great help..as it shows up amongst the trees ! I purchased two harnesses, one for a large Aussie Bulldog, and a smaller one for a Tibetan Spaniel, not expecting the harnesses to be really suitable for walking as they looked too flimsy. My Aussie Bulldog overheats in the warm weather, and this harness looked cooler than the one he currently wears. Both harnesses were easy to adjust to fit each dog, and walking the two is a dream! The harness gives better control than a collar, and both dogs seem calmer and more comfortable wearing them for long walks. My spaniel loves his! I'm really impressed. This harness might be okay for some (long-haired) dogs, and it does reduce pulling, but for my (short haired) dog it only took a few days of using it before my dog had sores in her "armpits". I would not recommend.A.

I love this mixing leash and harness set! It is really cute and soft. I was very impress that it was labeled with the different body parts. Which makes putting it on your dog a piece of cake. This was my first time ever using a harness with the loop in the front of the chest. It's perfect for training dogs of all ages to walk properly on a leash. My fur baby is not a fan of the leash and as you can see. He is a puller and he don't like that I can change his direction to whatever I am going. I decided to get this PetSafe – Easy Walk® Chic Designer Harness & Leash for my Ragdoll. His name is Cushy Meow and I only let him go out of the house on the deck so he can walk around with out running off somewhere. I got the blue one with the little bones to match his beautiful blue eyes. He looks very handsome in it. It fits perfectly as he weighs about 16 lbs, so I ended up getting a size small. Perfect size for Cushy Meow and he really enjoys wearing it while he is getting some fresh air. The product is very good and seems to be of fantastic quality overall! I love it too!! I finally found the perfect harness for walking my dog! My dog Daisy always pulls when I take her for walks. She pulls so hard that she starts coughing and choking. She does the with both leashes and traditional harnesses. The Easy Walk Harness has changed that. She no longer pulls or chokes on walks. I cannot believe I finally found something that works! The best investment I have made for my puppy, who is growing fast and extremely jumpy. It got to the stage where I found it incredibly difficult to walk her, but the Halti harness works a treat! The Halti double ended lead can be wrapped around you so you use your body weight rather than your hands/arms to stop the pulling. I can literally walk hands free! You can then take the lead off the front part of the harness and it becomes a 6 foot lead, which is great for recall training. If you take the whole double ended lead off, the harness has about a 1ft lead attached to it, which is easy to grab if you need to when you let your dog off the lead. It has turned our dog walks into a pleasure rather than a nightmare!awchan2801

Purchased Halti harness as last resort to control large pup. Due to urgent surgery at 12 weeks of age and essential crating post-operative 24/7 (except for toilet breaks) for 5 weeks following her procedure, the critical period of training unfortunately couldn't be completed during this time frame. Once able to commence training, she had grown significantly, was very strong and strong willed … finding a harness / lead to assist with her training was difficult until stumbling across the Halti harness. For her, this has proven to be the most successful in controlling and assisting with her training … certainly working for my husband and I, and our dog.Sue

Bought this product for a 7 month old puppy that is still learning to walk on lead and pulls so badly on a flat collar that she starts to choke herself. Fitting of the harness was very easy and adjusting the straps very simple. The inclusion of the clasp that attaches to the collar is a very good idea as it helps center the front of the harness as well as a safety precaution if the harness comes loose. I was suprised by how well the harness worked, there was no pulling right from the start. When my puppy gets over-excited (e.g. sees another dog) she attempts to pull but is easily controlled compared to the flat collar. I find the straps need readjusting fairly regularly and as they get loose the harness becomes less effective. This could be overcome by stitching in place at correct adjustment but as my dog is still growing I don't want to do that just yet. Overall I am very happy with the harness and it suits my purpose of continuing to train my dog to walk calmly on lead without her pulling so hard that she is choking herself and possible causing damage.08cactus

Purchased this for our rescue red heeler who had never been walked on a lead at 16 months old. He pulled constantly and walks were unbearable. The first few walks seemed to be improving and now (even with all straps tightened and adjusted to fit) the front point connection slips around to the side of his neck so it loses all benefits of being a front pull harness and he's pulling as bad as ever! The look of the harness is great however the material cannot stand up to chewing which is not covered under warranty. I bought one yesterday and this morning I left to get breakfast and when I got back 20 minutes later he had chewed through one of the straps and had taken a chuck out of the nylon canvas chest piece. I bought it for my mischievous lab puppy who weighed around 50 lbs at the time, solely for that reason. The cute factor. I then came here and ordered the Ruffwear Knot-a-leash rope dog leash to match. We used the harness and leash combo for about a week, when my fearless puppy decided to show me how well it works. I was driving on the freeway, and while waiting in traffic to exit on the off ramp, I opened my back windows for her to get some fresh air. She was clipped to a cheap “doggie seatbelt clip” so she was secure, or so I thought. I hadn’t noticed that she had un-clipped herself from the seatbelt until the moment I saw her jump right out the car window, and disappear from my view. She wasn’t trained at the time and would make a run for it anytime possible. I panicked picturing my dog running into freeway traffic and being hit, but to my disbelief I found her hanging off the car window, being securely help in place by this harness and the rope leash that was still inside the car. The impact of her weight combined with the momentum of the jump, did nothing but dent the locking system of the carabiner shut, and held her weight without letting her escape or even touch the ground for that matter, and not a single rip happened to either the harness or the leash otherwise. This “expensive, but cute” dog accessory prevented my dog from a terrifying death that would have surely happened had she not been wearing both of these incredible, life-saving items. Thank you, Ruffwear, for making such amazing products that are truly life saving. I owe my dog’s life to you guys and I am forever grateful for that.Sabrina

I love this harness. I haven't used it for the reason I bought it yet, (to be used on my dog while paddle boarding), but I have discovered it's amazing ability to thwart my dog's whale like antics to throw herself backward, going limp, and melt right out of the harness like a cooked noodle when she doesn't want to go or leave somewhere. My dog is a 55lb Golden Retriever / Border Collie, she's a big heavy noodle. I used to own the Rabitgo dog harness which was nice for her to wear while we biked, however within 3mo she learned how to pinch her shoulders together and melt out of the harness. She would also (mostly at the dog park) go stiff leg when we would leave and then rear up and throw herself backward ( like a whale jumping out of the ocean )so she was sprawled on the ground. Your only option was to literally drag her from the park. She is 4yrs old now and is an amazing whale flopper.. she can slip out of anything… until now. I can literally just hold her in the air by my side while she tries to wiggle and squirm out of the harness to no avail with this RuffWear harness. For that reason alone this harness is worth every penny to me, whether or not it works in the water. As far as fitting goes, I bought the large. Her neck is 19inches. Behind the front legs 31inches. In front of the back legs 25 inches. From base of neck to the start of the tail is 27 inches in length. It seems to fit her well. The components are well built the D ring is sturdy the buckles are heavy duty and it's well stitched. I think the only thing that could make this harness better would be having another D ring in the front. I know they have other harnesses with this feature, but multiple attachments is just handy when it comes to dogs. Overall, I would recommend this harness and I won't be going back to my previous harness.McKenna B.

This harness is perfect for our furry escape artist! We've been using this harness for years (this is our third one) and she has never gotten out of it. It is adjustable to get a comfortable fit. The handle is wonderful when you need to make sure you have solid control, such as when small children want to greet the doggo nose to nose. Even though this is our third harness purchase, I want to clarify that the previous harnesses did not wear out and they are still structurally sound. We walk a lot and they faded due to sun and water exposure after a few years. And one of them took a beating from my cleaning attempts after an unfortunate encounter with a skunk. First the Pros: this harness is durable and I have no doubt it is strong and durable enough to hold my 70lb pittie when needed. It also does a great job of keeping her from pulling when using the chest loop. We love the Ruffwear brand and I (and my dogs) love the sweaters/clothing as they are always cold in temps below 70°. Cons: I watched the video on fitting the harness and every single walk results in raw skin/bleeding/scabs under her armpits (she has very thin fur on her underside) due to the material of the harness rubbing in this area. I also find the buckles a bit difficult to unclip as they are partially hidden inside the attachment area which means you have to squeeze the buckle through the thick harness material to release the clasp. Because of my love of their other products and the front clip feature, I may try to put some padding or softer material in the underarm area to see if that helps.Melissa S.

For the most part I really like this harness. The construction seems sturdy and the color is nice, and it’s very easy to get on and off. That said, I think it could be improved by lengthening the body (the neck to back, if you will). I have two mixed breed dogs who are very similar in shape, size, and weight. I purchased two of these harnesses, one in extra small and one in small. The small is overall a bit too large around, and the small (although ok for girth) is way too short. I am always trying to keep an eye on their underarms and backs of their elbows to make sure they aren’t getting raw spots. I’ve seen the same issue in other reviews, so I don’t think it’s just my dogs. I would also love it if you could purchase extenders in different sizes, because I think often a smaller size is better all around, but doesn’t extend in girth quite enough, while the next size up is too big. The good still outweighs the not perfect though, and I keep coming back to Ruffwear to buy different styles of harnesses!Samantha N.

I just got a couple Airdale Terrier puppies that are about 4 1/2 months now. They're in training now so I wanted to find something that would be comfortable for them while learning to walk on leash. My daughter told me about these harnesses and how they're like a hug for puppies/dogs. I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. They fit perfectly. The dog in the nautical harness is 35lbs, and the dog in the purple harness is 31lbs. They're both wearing an XL and there's some room for them to grow as well. Thank you, EcoBark!Bill
