I promptly received the training crate but spent two hours on putting it together. The booklet's instructions were confusing beside the metal crate is not completely sturdy without having some type of snapping connectors to hold all four corners tightly. I was so drained by the time I realized that the four standing legs do not support the metal crate corners. Whatever you do, please do not sit on it, or place any heavy object on top of it. In doing so, you may cause it to collapse hence staring all over again with the assembly. Aside from that, the wood grain is nice as well as the metal product itself. Overall, my Shorkie did not like it at first but he is getting comfortable with it. Then again, it would have been really nicer if the front bottom wood placement slid inside as opposed to pushing it toward the tray. My puppy keeps pushing it away without much effort.Pauline
I did not read Hayneedle's return policy close enough before ordering. My husband put this together a few days ago and we are very disappointed in how flimsy it is. The bottom front panel comes off frequently and it just doesn't feel stable. The "magnets" have no strength to them. We wouldn't feel comfortable having a drink sit on top. When I went online today to submit the return request, I was shocked to see that the return shipping fee would be $43! So much for "satisfaction guarantee." There are plenty of other shopping sites that have a more understanding return policy- no one wants to return and deal with the hassle. However, when you are completely unsatisfied with a product you should be able to return and get most of your money back. If stability is what you are looking for- do not order this product!New pup
Okay, I looked into a LOT of furniture crates. My husky is destructive when we're not home and chews furniture. So I knew I needed a wire/metal crate. I also wanted an attractive one. I was hesitant to buy this since so many negative reviews talked about it "falling apart" and only being supported by magnets. I haven't had any issues…it's sturdy. We use it as an end table and a crate. We've had it 3 months now and still have no issues. My husband said he was gonna secure the pieces together with screws (When we first assembled it) cause he didn't like the "magnet thing". But he still hasn't done it, and it's holding up just fine. If you want it to be portable, you wouldn't want to do that. I already have a portable crate so that wasn't my intention with this crate. Anyways, it looks great and was worth the money. (Also, it came with a divider, which I didn't need but I appreciated!) The only thing I would change, which is minor, was if I could tuck the door back and out of the way when open. But, most of the crate furniture i found had that same issue. Hope that helps!Briana

I would recommend it. It is a nice piece of furniture and can blend into your home. The latch works very nicely. Haven't tried it as a gate yet. It went together very easily. I really wanted a size small, but settled for a medium because we were desperate and our dog likes to see everything, so the openness of it works out well for her. I was disappointed that it came with two small scratches on the wood. The small plastic tabs that cover the screws on the inside of the cage fall off. This item was delivered as promised. It was packed to protect the cherry finish, however, the were finish imperfections most likely due to poor handling of the product. When putting this item together (an easy process) we discovered that the wrong hardware had been installed at the bottom of one of the sides and the door opening. No excuse for this error and that's why the 1 star rating. We are returning this item which means we have to disassemble the item and box it to ship back to the supplier for a refund. Since this is a pain in the (you know where) the 1 star also reflects this process. One other item was sending pictures to the manufacturer to show the problem with the wrong hardware having been installed. They were very nice and helpful….but it took time to make the calls, send a picture…send emails and so on. In other words, another pain in the( you know where). We very much liked the looks of this item and the finish goes with our furnishings well. But……this is a classic example of ……" not doing it right the first time"…….therefore, I recommend the several companies we dealt with go to Quality Management School……James

Our boy enjoys his crate and sleeps in it no problem, but we thought it would be nice to be able to block some light and noise for him, plus the cover looks nicer since it's in our living room. I will say that the sides overhang onto the floor by an inch or so, but maybe it will shrink a bit when I eventually wash it. Not enough of an issue to deduct a star. The crate is perfect in terms of size and style. Only had a slight issue with the quality the items arrived in. Some of the materials were a bit scuffed though nothing noticeable once the dog blankets were added and the crate is in its spot. Also not a huge fan of the latches.
