We've been using this bark collar on our German Shepherd and it's working! He barks at everyone out the front window or while on car rides and his bark is very loud. I've tried other collars in the past that give off a beeping noise and can be controlled by a remote control, but that beeping sound scares my mini poodle too much so we had to stop using it. I was excited to try this collar knowing it releases a different type of sound. So far it distracts the GSD and works to deter him from barking. Well, my dog barks every time he hears a strange noise, if someone knocks on the door and sometimes just to get my attention. But I was not about to get one of those collars that actually shock my dog so I was so thrilled to discover this Audible Bark Collar from PetSafe®️. I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Here we are 1 week from the day I bought it and my dog's behavior has completely changed. Everytime I let him out to potty, I'll put his collar on and no unnecessary barking from him. Hi. We just started using the collar on Saturday. It is amazing. Cleo is not uncomfortable and more settled. No more bunny hopping & barking (large german shepherd) at the front door when the postman comes. The neighbours are not complaining. We are home this week and keeping an eye on her and reafirming when she is quiet. I think the collar had only got to about level 2 a couple of times over the last couple of days. Amazing product!!! I have a beautiful groodle, well trained and loved dearly. But her barking was out of control. Kids couldn't play ball without the constant barking. Researching and ordering the collar from the Bark Control website was seamless. The bark collar was received in short time via Australia Post Express. It appears to be well made and fairly robust. Operation of and fitting the collar is easy, directions are included and are simple to follow. We've had no barking complaints from our neighbours since changing to this collar so I guess it's working. it's far superior to our previous vibration type which was pretty much useless on our cattle dog. I got this bark collar for my two dogs and it worked wonderfully for a few months. They completely stopped barking! But then, the battery wouldn't stay charged. I was told that I might be doing something wrong that ruined the battery. Customer Service was uber helpful (5 stars for them!) and they sent me a new collar for free. I ended up going through five collars in just a few months with the same problem each time. The rechargeable battery is the only problem with this product, but it is a huge problem. When I finally asked Customer Service if they had any spray collars with a different type of battery, they directed me to the Elite Spray Bark Collar. When I got the collar they only had the one for little dogs, but it still works amazingly for my big dogs! It does all the same things as the rechargeable one except that it uses non-rechargeable batteries. These batteries last way longer than the rechargeable one though so it's a win-win! I highly suggest looking at the Elite Spray Bark Collars!!!NIKKI 😉

Supposed to have 35-45 sprays but it sure didn’t. We put the collar on him and angled the camera so we could watch him and try to train him to stop. He barked and it sprayed. He continued to bark. It continued to spray. It shut off like it’s supposed to. We went in and the whole place smelled like citronella. We walked back out after trying to calm him. He barked and it sprayed. He kept barking and then it stopped spraying and started flashing that it was out. The. Citronella cartridge only had maybe 5-8 sprays. We had to leave for a few hours that afternoon and we put the unscented cartridge in. After being gone for only an hour or two it was empty as well. We watched video of him and he continued to bark through the sprays. It had no effect. However, it also only had maybe 10ish sprays in it total. The cartridges aren’t worth the money as they don’t have what they are supposed to have in them. The collar was not worth the money as the spray didn’t even phase our dog. Maybe it works for others but it didn’t do anything for us apart from leave a citronella smell in the air for a few minutes.MarkD504

For starters I am not a person who usually leaves reviews but this product deserves it! I bought two of these collars for my two of my noisier dogs. I have tried everything to control their barking – trying to distract them with treats, spraying them with water to correct the behaviour, using high frequency clicker and using a training collar that I would beep if they barked as a warning and then it would vibrate if they barked again. None of these worked so I gave up for a bit, until I saw this collar come up as I was researching new collars to try – I decided to give it a shot since it was different than the methods I have previously tried. My god, it is incredible! I put the collar on my noisiest dog, a terrier, (his barking is out of control) and he barked once and it sprayed him and he has not barked since – I went from having him bark at every little sound he heard outdoors to peace and quiet. I live in an older building and the walls are very thin! All dogs bark but I didn't want howling or nuisance barking disturbing everyone. I tried other spray collars but I would come home to a wet dog. He quickly figured this one out and learned not to bark excessively. It steps up the stimulation as the barking continues. If you have a dog with a thick coat or just plain stubborn, you will have to find something more heavy duty. This collar is chunky but not heavy and hasn't bothered my dog.zenonthego

I was so excited to try this on my dog because there’s nothing else I’ve done has worked. I loved the range of size the collar goes. I also loved that the button is on the inside so the dog would not be able to accidentally turn it off(no it doesnt zap your hand)lol. The first 24 hours I thought it was working because she only barked once or twice and that was unusual for her. But every day since she has gone back to her normal crazy barking self. Our new pup now almost 1 1/2 years old, was a barking machine. Hard to control or stop. We got this hoping that would help and it has. Our dog has a LOT of fur and it was hard to get contact but when that issue was resolved we noticed the barking decreased within a day or two. When we took off the collar, there was a tendency for our dog to ramp up again but once it was back on, the excess barking stopped. The dog has now figured out, collar on, no barking. Collar off, barking some is ok. Hopefully that goes away with time. Next we need to work on whining, sigh…Mossman1

The PetSafe Bark Collar has been a tremendous help with our Australian Shepard who loved to bark at anything and everything from dusk until dawn. We put the collar on right away and it started working immediately for him. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all. I think it startled him more than anything but he is fine. We are able to take him on walks now and to the park . The kids are not scared of him anymore and we can actually talk to each other calmly without having to get frustrated trying to talk over his barking. I read all the reviews on a lot of bark collars and the PetSafe Barking Collar – PBC17-16635 by far had the best reviews. After talking with my husband we decided to purchase. Once received we read the instruction manual and did as it said but no matter what we did nothing was working. I emailed and Jason sent through a video lnk which gave us more of a clearer understanding of what to do. Upon following those instructions I cant fault it. Purchased this collar from Chow Down pet supplies. It had absolutely zero effect on my dog. He completely ignored whatever sound was coming from the device. I threw this away and got a much pricier static correction collar that has customizable settings. No comparison, much more effective… don't waste your money on cheap pet safe products.D Cooper

When I first got my puppy at 6 months old he would constantly bark. I was told at the store this is not a very good bark training collar, but if I wanted something inexpensive to try it and if it didn’t work I could return it. I was then hesitate that it didn’t work, but still tried it and loved it! Every time he barked you could see the light flash on it. 1 downfall is the collar can be easily rotated around the neck no matter how tight you have it if the scratches at it. It needs to be kept in the front of the dogs neck, and as high up the neck as possible. So you have to keep adjusting it, but I also found it shocks them if they are doing something they aren’t supposed to, and when you yell loudly at them it shocks them as well. So it serves a multipurpose of bark control, and obedience. I only had to use it on my dog for less than a week, and he stopped the constant barking, chewing, and was 100% more obedient! I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on training collars, or bark collars! Worked great!Lauj

my dog can’t even shake his head without getting a correction. Almost any sound cause him to get a correction so it is scary and confusing for him. It would be nice if there was a sensitivy adjustment but the collar as designed is not helpful. The average bark of a dog compared to the sounds that are setting this off are not the same and all will cause the dog anxiety due to the false stimulations.Heather52

Charge the collar prior to using on your dog. Follow instructions included with the unit. Easy setup. My dog, a Plott hound who is quite vocal, learned to stop barking using the auto rise setting. Bark odometer nice feature to determine how often the unit provides correction. Noted less corrections the more Jax wore the collar. May try just vibration setting when corrections minimal. This is an amazing product as long as it is used properly with verbal training. Two of my dogs were trained with these by a professional trainer. He advised me to train the rest of my dogs with them and have them on hand so my dogs wouldn't regress. Basically all I have to do is tell them (I have 4 hunting dogs) to quiet down and show them the collars now and immediately then listen. If not I put them on, but that is rare and only if there are rabbits outside they want to get at. When I started training I started with verbal command and then put the collar on when they wouldn't listen. Rarely did they need more than vibration to stop. It took a total of 3 weeks to train them to listen to verbal commands. When you have 4 dogs in the house it's important be able to have control. This product helps achieve that!jennifer.c

I assume this collar works. However, I believe my dog has learned from past collars that a shake of the head will move the tightest collar just far enough off center to lessen the shock. Either that or he just sucks it up and keeps barking. I've turned it up to the highest and it only reduces his barking by maybe 5% . It blinks and registers the correction, but apparently he's not suffering enough to quit all together. So I am not sure if the problem is him or the collar. I would suggest the vendor change the collar to add a non slip material instead of the slick shiny stuff they currently use. That might stop the "shake off".ShellyB

This bark collar has accomplished its purpose; our 2 1/2 year old boxer doesn't bark at the neighbors, at cars pulling in the driveway, or any other movement or sound that he used to bark at. However, this collar makes the exact same beep/correction as our dogs wireless fence collar. The first time he was corrected for barking he thought he was outside his boundaries, but really he was well within them..he became confused and very reluctant to come outside…It took the better part of a day to get him to play frisbee the way he used to.. I knew my dog would catch on so I kept the collar on him for the next 3 days. After a few more corrections he now gets it; no more barking! He also plays in the yard like he used to..quietboxer

I have two dogs, only one of them has a barking problem. I put the collar on him and adjusted it according to the instructions. I let the dogs out in the yard and he barked at something and got a shock from the unit (it beeps when it activates, so you know it went off). It stopped his barking right away. A bit later he ran across the yard and it went off again (wasn't barking). A few moments later the other dog tackled him and it went off again (still wasn't barking). I later found out that the unit activates off vibration, so any number of activities can trigger it. You would be much better off to buy one of the remote activated units, where you decide when to trigger it. They cost a lot more but your dog won't get punished for running around in the yard.Workinman

I purchase this bark collar when it was on special last week and I have to say that I LOVE IT! I have a 20 lbs dog that was extremely vocal with a high pitch voice so you can image how noisy it could get. I tried training her with different techniques but if you are not consistent those techniques would not work. With the bark collar the training was instant! Somebody would come knock on the door… one bark and it was over (instead of 15 min of high pitch barking). She now seems more come and relax when somebody come to the door. She doesn't have the bark collar on strait time, I do take it off at night and I have notice that even if she doesn't have the bark collar on she has lowered the tone of her bark and she doesn't bark as much. I don't have any problems with a dog who bark to let me know if somebody is knocking on the door or if she wants to go outside to do her thing so I believe the bark collar was the best thing for us. The only minor down side would be that you have to make sure the collar is placed right in front of the dog's throat so you will have to adjust it every now and then. If it is not place properly it will not correct the dog.Fufner

The collar has some pretty big (1") sensor probes that look not so comfortable on the neck, probably necessary for the deterrent. The on/off is pretty sensitive to get it on, you need a dime or something to turn on/off which is good so when the dog wears it the normal movements won't accidentally turn it off. That being said, it is necessary to move it around to the exact position and confirm green light that it is on. You can't just turn it to the word ON, it may need to be ever so slightly adjusted a fraction one way or the other to make sure it is on. Our particular experience seemed to work well on our dog, it only took a couple of times of it vibrating to startle our dog and get her to realize that it was because she barked. It didn't seem to vibrate on growling only barking and we had it pretty tight and her hair is short. It would not be something you would want to leave on your dog forever because I am sure the probes in the neck are not so comfortable for the dog. Overall my dog has reduced her barking about 90% even without the collar on. If she has a particular barking episode on our lanai we put the collar back on for a while and she figures it out. She does seem pretty sad with it on but she is learning quickly and hopefully it won't be for long. The vibration doesn't seem to hurt her, just startle her and that does the job. I think the results could really vary from dog to dog and maybe the breed tendencies play into it. For the investment and result WE got it was well worth it to have less barking here in Hawaii and that peace for us and our neighbors.SDaymon

I tried the bird house bark control device with disastrous results (see my review). I needed something, because my outside, extremely nervous, submissive dog barks incessantly. A harsh word, and she reacts as if she's been struck, which she never is. She flinched with sudden moves. This led me to be extremely cautious when seeking a bark control collar. I discussed it with my vet, and we decided that due to her personality, a vibration collar would probably be the best choice. It has been fantastic! She instantly associated the vibration with her bark. She hardly ever barks now, even when her brother does. The best part? No bad side effects! She's not even scared of the collar! I remove it at night when I lock them in their air conditioned garage, and in the morning when I put it on she reacts as if I'm putting on any old collar. Bought one for a rescued bully that had severe old barking due to living on a 3 foot chain…he used to bark nonstop because thats all he knew.. this taught him to calm down in just a couple weeks. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. These collars must be lined up with the vocal cords in order to detect the vibration of the bark. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Here we are 1 week from the day I bought it and my dog's behavior has completely changed. Everytime I let him out to potty, I'll put his collar on and no unnecessary barking from him. This collar is 100% useless. I bought it because I noticed that under "Guardian" it said, "By PetSafe". My sister has a PetSafe bark collar that she uses for her German Shepherd, and it works perfectly. I figured this would be essentially the same, since it was roughly the same price. I was wrong. The collar DOES NOT WORK. I mean, the test it instructs you to do before putting it on the dog, showed that the collar itself was not broken or nonfunctional. It did exactly what it was supposed to– when you run the prongs along a flat surface for at least 10 seconds, it will beep & a red light will flash. So, it was tested & appeared to be functional. I put it on my 47 pound, 9 month old female Pitbull, & it did NOTHING. She barked right through it… I gave it hours, thinking maybe it just had to work up to a higher level. But nope. She just barked more and more and more. I promptly returned this to the Walmart store I purchased it from, and now I'm back on the hunt for one that does work. I may end up having to spend double. But I'd rather spend double for one that DOES WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO, than save money and have a useless piece of plastic strapped to a cheap, flimsy collar. Which is another thing…. the collar itself is VERY VERY VERY cheap. It's like dollar store material. The plastic buckle is flimsy and light. The buckles that adjust the collar size are the same flimsy material, and they DO NOT HOLD. The collar does not stay fitted or firm. It loosens right up. I even threaded the other end through the buckle so that it had THREE layers of collar, and it STILL didn't stay. This collar is poorly made, and 100% nonfunctional. We have 2 Puggles, one of them is overly vocal and the 2nd tends to follow what the older one does. We adopted our loud mouth when he was a little over 5 years old, I'm pretty sure his barking is what landed him in the shelter in the first place. We have tried many other items to try to curb his barking none of which have worked. The sonic egg surprisingly worked for about 2 days before he started barking louder to drown out the sound of it. When I say overly vocal, I mean he barks at anything and everything. Not just a little bark, but an ear piercing headache causing bark. He barks when someone nocks on the door, at people walking down the street, and all delivery trucks. He even barks when someone he has seen and knows well comes over wearing something unfamiliar to him, like a baseball cap. For 4 years now we've been patient with him, but recently a neighbor complained about how he barks at ALL the delivery trucks. The last thing we want is to have problems with neighbors. So, we finally broke down and searched for a decent bark collar that wouldn't break the bank especially being only a few days before Christmas. I was a little hesitant that anything would work being that he's over 9 years old. To my surprise this thing works exactly as described, and we are loving the peace and quiet. The first day we put it on him, he ran to the fence to bark at an unfamiliar truck driving down the street. He let out the first bark no problem, but after the second bark he yelped and that was it. He's never made it beyond a second bark. The second day he barked only once at the mail truck and stopped, he knows the first bark wont do anything. I'm good with him barking once, just not continuously for 5-10 minutes straight. We take the collar off him at night because he's usually pretty quiet at night anyway, but first thing in the morning it goes back on him. He's quiet when he's wearing it, and honestly seems happier to me now that he's not focused on barking at everything. He can still do his low happy excited howl when he greets us without setting off the collar so I'm happy about that. I'm going to give him about 3 months of wearing it during the day and then we'll try him without it. My younger dog is also being quiet because his brother isn't constantly barking anymore. The collar itself is good material, I'm glad it's not plastic, it seems to be well built. I'll update my review it anything ever fails.amaiyamama

I have 2 ANNOYING dogs that we love SO VERY MUCH!! lol We live in a subdivision where we have tons of cars, tons of bikers, tons of walkers, tons of kids getting on and off the bus, and wildlife at night. MY DOGS HATE COMING INSIDE AND CANNOT STAND ANYONE OUTSIDE OF THE FAMILY OR ANY OTHER ANIMAL IN THEIR SIGHT RANGE! So our shed outback is their "doghouse" with heat lamps and cozy bedding. THEY DROVE US NUTS EVERY SINGLE DAY AND EVERY SINGLE NIGHT BEFORE WE PURCHASED THESE COLLARS!! I've bought about 4 different outdoor barking systems from Amazon and Petsmart that looked like inconspicuous birdhouses, but they never worked well or lasted long. We would use sound machines at night to drown them out!! If we knock on the windows during the day, they used that as a signal to stop, but they would only stop long enough to run to the backdoor before they were off barking at anyone and everything again!! This Guardian Bark Collar is AMAZING for us, and I'm SURE our neighbors think so too!! When we do hear barking, we know it is either needing a new battery or the collars need to be tightened. These have been worth every penny to us!! Customer service/warranty through PetSafe has been tremendous as well!! I always forget to leave reviews but quickly remembered as I am only here leaving this one bc I was about to buy a 3rd collar for our dachshund/chihuahua mix who has taken over all the barking since the other two have stopped!! This is the second collar I've tried . The first one lasted 2 days and worked great , then it wouldn't hold a charge ! So they sent me a knew one ,I plugged it in and followed the directions . The light was red , then when it turned green I unplugged it and flollowed directions and nothing happened . So guess this will go back also . Feeling angry !lynne reid

seriously angry. I spent an obscene amount of money on these collars and they don't work. Fully charged on short haired dogs, they are so tight on the dogs that they can hardly breath and they still bark like they have nothing on. GGGRRR NOT impressednvardinal
