We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. OK I needed to get my younger boy to check himself with the over excessive barking but I never wanted to use anything like the shock collar which to me is a little inhumane. The one thing I noticed that did work is spraying him with a water bottle,however that’s not practical when he’s far away in the yard or trying to chase him down to do it. We are trying to train our year old German shepherd/Belgian Malinois to stop barking at passersby going on walks outside of our fence. I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. I have a 10 yr old Coton and she is a barker! She barks at everything. I have tried so many things to help her..shy doggy classes, thunder shirt, apple bitter spray, shake a can of pennies and so many other things. I finally just gave up and decided I will have to deal with it. I work from home and am on the phone, so the barking can be very stressful. When I heard about this collar I decided to give it a try. I waited about 3 days before even putting it on her because I felt bad for her! But after reading about it and knowing it won't hurt her at all I decided to give it a try. OMG I wish I had this collar years ago! It worked like a charm! She is a new dog! She learned pretty quick and now if she barks all I have to say is, do you want that collar back on?? And she grumbles at me and quiets up. The spray makes a sound coming out and sprays way out in front of her..no where near her face or eyes. It is a lemon smell for those who don't know what citronella smells like. It did go off a few times when she wasn't barking at all, but she was fine..she just looked at me like I didn't do anything! But the few little cons could never out weigh the pros for this collar. I would highly recommend if you have a barker. It is truly a godsend! My house is so much quieter now!Puff972
I bought this for a friend that was having trouble with his dog barking after moving to a new apartment. It has been about two weeks and is a different dog. He sometimes goes for a couple days with no spray in his collar. The first time he didn't like the spray and still doesn't but was not expecting the spray nor the smell. It didn't take him long, maybe a few days, to associate the barking with the spray. Bob, the dog, seems happier and more relaxed than he ever did before. We are trying to train our year old German shepherd/Belgian Malinois to stop barking at passersby going on walks outside of our fence. We are on a corner lot and walking traffic has been increased with the COVID 19 restrictions. It seems that in just a few days, she seems to understand not to bark. When she has the collar on, one low bark, and one spray and she's done. So, we are even leaving the collar off and seem to be hearing less barking. Granted, some dogs walking by and barking themselves might trigger her. But, it seems to be much more silent. \nWe had used the shock collar and it worked when it was on but not when it was off. We felt she was not happy when we put that collar on. We didn't seem to be making progress with weaning her off of that collar.

Our new pup now almost 1 1/2 years old, was a barking machine. Hard to control or stop. We got this hoping that would help and it has. Our dog has a LOT of fur and it was hard to get contact but when that issue was resolved we noticed the barking decreased within a day or two. When we took off the collar, there was a tendency for our dog to ramp up again but once it was back on, the excess barking stopped. The dog has now figured out, collar on, no barking. Collar off, barking some is ok. Hopefully that goes away with time. Next we need to work on whining, sigh…Mossman1
The PetSafe Bark Collar has been a tremendous help with our Australian Shepard who loved to bark at anything and everything from dusk until dawn. We put the collar on right away and it started working immediately for him. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all. I think it startled him more than anything but he is fine. We are able to take him on walks now and to the park . The kids are not scared of him anymore and we can actually talk to each other calmly without having to get frustrated trying to talk over his barking. I read all the reviews on a lot of bark collars and the PetSafe Barking Collar – PBC17-16635 by far had the best reviews. After talking with my husband we decided to purchase. Once received we read the instruction manual and did as it said but no matter what we did nothing was working. I emailed and Jason sent through a video lnk which gave us more of a clearer understanding of what to do. Upon following those instructions I cant fault it. This collar really does work. Ive had a problem with my French Bulldog continuously barking when he is in the garden, he would bark at anything that flew over, birds, butterflies and even aeroplanes. He would bark if he heard another dog or if my snobby neighbours sat in their garden talking or eating and talking to their dog but completely ignoring mine, all of my other neighbours love him to bits and talk to him over the fence. Anyway Ive tried whistles and clickers and of course vocally training him with no joy, a very stubborn breed! But from the second I put the collar on him it has reduced his barking by at least 75% Its well made and doesnt hurt your dog at all, it fits well with a good amount of adjustment and it comes with 3 different colour inserts a battery and a spare battery! This is the 1st review i have ever written, but just had to tell everyone how brilliant this product is! Stopped my working cocker barking virtually instantly! He would bark constantly until he was given his ball or a treat, whichever he wanted at the time! Had tried lots of different approaches, but nothing worked. Now all he needs to hear is the 1st warning beep and he settled straight away – 9/10 times he doesn't even make a sound! I purchased two of these as have two noisy schnauzers. One of the dogs is nervous so reacted quickly to the beeps and vibration as disliked it. The other just barks at everyone! So on wearing the collars, the nervous yappy one … would make little noise but not dare bark. The older dog who barks at everyone, became silent – tried it on her in the garden and she became very quiet. So, on wearing to the park… wow…. it was bliss, nice quiet walk. Even off the lead they were quiet, but reminded quickly if a bark escaped 🙂 In the garden, I show them the collars which is usually enough. Would recommend trying as its really helped. First off the package Was partially opened and ripped up, the batteries were turning green but it was the last collar they had, used it for 3 days and the battery died. Now the vibration does not work for long, dogs are smart and once they realize there is no pain involved the collar is useless at that point! This worked really well for my little barker. I tried a shock collar about a year ago. It was rediculous! It hurst him and he went screaching down the hall. I immediately removed it and have been afraid to try anything else. His barking was getting out of control so I reluctantly agreed to try this collar. We tried it on both vibrate and sound. Both worked equally well. Now if he is barking too much just the threat of having the collar on works. LOL.Shirley
Got this for our small dog that barks every time we step out the door. It worked for a week then it ate the first set of batteries it came with. Changed them and it ate those within days.
