I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. Spending the extra money and doing your research is worth it! We have a Labrador and we noticed a sudden change in her behaviour when we moved house. 5am pedestrians and dog walkers and foxes passing by would set her off and we’d often have to get out of bed to give positive reinforcement or bring her inside. In the beginning, I purchased the the Petsafe Basic Bark Control Collar – PBC19-10765. It came with free Replacement Batteries and I purchased an extra pack to save on future postage. Her irritability and persistent barking returned to full on annoyance after about four weeks. I have a 9 month old puppy who is barking non stop a couple times a day. I found the Premier Pet Bark Collar and thought this might be the trick. I am glad I did so far we have reduced these barking times to shorter times and less often. We do not leave the collar on all the time but do put it on when he starts the barking. This collar really does work. Ive had a problem with my French Bulldog continuously barking when he is in the garden, he would bark at anything that flew over, birds, butterflies and even aeroplanes. He would bark if he heard another dog or if my snobby neighbours sat in their garden talking or eating and talking to their dog but completely ignoring mine, all of my other neighbours love him to bits and talk to him over the fence. I purchased two of these as have two noisy schnauzers. One of the dogs is nervous so reacted quickly to the beeps and vibration as disliked it. The other just barks at everyone! So on wearing the collars, the nervous yappy one … would make little noise but not dare bark. I have a toy breed rescue who was probably put up for adoption because of barking. I’ve had a lot of dogs over the years but holy moly this one is noisy! She barks at everything or nothing, and once she starts she won’t stop. Barks herself into a frenzy, racing back and forth, makes screaming sounds, it’s horrible. She’ll keep going for 30 minutes if nothing distracts her from the bark-frenzy. Training and calming techniques that have worked with all my other dogs (including several older rescues) didn’t work for her. And I don’t want to medicate her. So I bought this collar and tested it on my own neck. It’s a gentle vibration. No shock whatsoever. None. Zero. Not painful or uncomfortable. Like a cell phone vibrating in your pocket. It’s just enough of a sensation to divert her attention. She can bark a few times before it triggers, so it doesn’t vibrate for normal barking. Like if someone is at the door, I expect the dogs to give a few barks and that’s fine. This just stops the bark-binges. Once she gets her little “reminder”, she looks around like “Huh? I bought the bark collar for my small breed dog who whines constantly & barks at every noise she hears. The collar worked great the first month, and then started shocking her randomly, when she wasn’t making a noise, and then quit all together. I tried to reset it per the instruction manual, and it didn’t work. I have made sure it’s on her neck properly, the green light has still been flashing saying it’s charged after 6wks. I charged it once today, and she has whined constantly since I put it back on her without a shock. So I am very dissatisfied with this collar. I purchased this product for a new puppy who was being crate trained in an apartment. I chose this particular model because of the 15 incremental levels of correction and because of the recharging feature. I have used other models in the past and spent a fortune on model specific batteries. The collar itself was easy to fit. Even on a three month old puppy. It worked as advertised delivering incremental correction upon detecting a whine or bark. The problem is the dog failed to cease barking instead increasing his barks to the given correction. The collar was removed and another attempt was made to use the collar again with the same results. Two other attempts were made but by then the dog became visibly agitated at the site or placement of the collar. I returned the collar to tractor supply without any difficulties for a full refund. I decided to follow a more holistic approach and purchased Naturvet Hemp Quiet Moments soft chews. These chews given 45 minutes before crating do the trick and he now enters and remains quiet. Have had the best results with this bark collar (Dogtra YS300). I used it on myself to test and it scared me for sure! But DID NOT HURT AT ALL. We wish we bought this sooner! Our little Kelpie girl was relentless with her barking she would bark at anything that moved. This collar is 100% useless. I bought it because I noticed that under "Guardian" it said, "By PetSafe". My sister has a PetSafe bark collar that she uses for her German Shepherd, and it works perfectly. I figured this would be essentially the same, since it was roughly the same price. I was wrong. The collar DOES NOT WORK. I mean, the test it instructs you to do before putting it on the dog, showed that the collar itself was not broken or nonfunctional. It did exactly what it was supposed to– when you run the prongs along a flat surface for at least 10 seconds, it will beep & a red light will flash. So, it was tested & appeared to be functional. I put it on my 47 pound, 9 month old female Pitbull, & it did NOTHING. She barked right through it… I gave it hours, thinking maybe it just had to work up to a higher level. But nope. She just barked more and more and more. I promptly returned this to the Walmart store I purchased it from, and now I'm back on the hunt for one that does work. I may end up having to spend double. But I'd rather spend double for one that DOES WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO, than save money and have a useless piece of plastic strapped to a cheap, flimsy collar. Which is another thing…. the collar itself is VERY VERY VERY cheap. It's like dollar store material. The plastic buckle is flimsy and light. The buckles that adjust the collar size are the same flimsy material, and they DO NOT HOLD. The collar does not stay fitted or firm. It loosens right up. I even threaded the other end through the buckle so that it had THREE layers of collar, and it STILL didn't stay. This collar is poorly made, and 100% nonfunctional. We have 2 Puggles, one of them is overly vocal and the 2nd tends to follow what the older one does. We adopted our loud mouth when he was a little over 5 years old, I'm pretty sure his barking is what landed him in the shelter in the first place. We have tried many other items to try to curb his barking none of which have worked. The sonic egg surprisingly worked for about 2 days before he started barking louder to drown out the sound of it. When I say overly vocal, I mean he barks at anything and everything. Not just a little bark, but an ear piercing headache causing bark. He barks when someone nocks on the door, at people walking down the street, and all delivery trucks. He even barks when someone he has seen and knows well comes over wearing something unfamiliar to him, like a baseball cap. For 4 years now we've been patient with him, but recently a neighbor complained about how he barks at ALL the delivery trucks. The last thing we want is to have problems with neighbors. So, we finally broke down and searched for a decent bark collar that wouldn't break the bank especially being only a few days before Christmas. I was a little hesitant that anything would work being that he's over 9 years old. To my surprise this thing works exactly as described, and we are loving the peace and quiet. The first day we put it on him, he ran to the fence to bark at an unfamiliar truck driving down the street. He let out the first bark no problem, but after the second bark he yelped and that was it. He's never made it beyond a second bark. The second day he barked only once at the mail truck and stopped, he knows the first bark wont do anything. I'm good with him barking once, just not continuously for 5-10 minutes straight. We take the collar off him at night because he's usually pretty quiet at night anyway, but first thing in the morning it goes back on him. He's quiet when he's wearing it, and honestly seems happier to me now that he's not focused on barking at everything. He can still do his low happy excited howl when he greets us without setting off the collar so I'm happy about that. I'm going to give him about 3 months of wearing it during the day and then we'll try him without it. My younger dog is also being quiet because his brother isn't constantly barking anymore.
