One note: For people with bigger dogs, this collar is a bit on the thin side vs. standard nylon collars. On our well trained boy it is not a problem, but I would not consider this as a primary collar for use with a leash if the dog is not well trained. BEWARE SIZING IS NOT CORRECT. The SIZING instructions in listing states that you should measure your dog‘s neck and to add 2 inches. So, I measured my dog’s neck and it is 12 inches, +2” equals 14 inches. So I ordered 14” collar. The listing states that the collar size you order should fit the MIDDLE hole of the collar. See attached photo for what I received. Keep this in mind when ordering. 14 inches was BEYOND the LAST hole! SmartPak. I think you should include a photo with actual measurements to the listing which will save money and time spent on unnecessary returns. Hope this review helps a future customer. I bought this collar for my female basset hound. To give you an idea of her size she was 32lbs when we adopted her (adult) and we bought a collar that was size 18. It was way too big for her at the time and had to buy something else until she gained weight. However, because she was so underweight at the time she did put on weight and is now at a healthy 44lbs and the collar is kept on the middle hole so it fits perfect with room to spare each way. We get tons of compliments everywhere we go and it is extremely durable. I did apply a leather water proof layer to it, I just wanted to be careful with it because it is such a beautiful collar. The nameplate is stunning as well and perfect for identification! It was stiff at first, and we did have to bend the nameplate slightly for it to fit right, but quickly, within a couple of weeks of use, the leather was supple and broken in. I've had it for 9 months now and it still looks brand new even after being worn every day!Gabby

I bought one of these Tory collars at a horse show (though the styling was a bit different) a dozen or so years ago for my beloved dog who has since passed. She wore it almost her entire adult life and it held up beautifully.When I adopted a new dog recently, it was a no brainer what type of collar I would get. The only reason I gave this four stars instead of five is that the sizing recommendation of the website is wrong. I ordered the large for my dog who has at 16.5 inch neck. It was way too big. I put it on her and left the house to return and find that she had removed the collar and chewed it up. Customer service was great and allowed me to exchange it for the medium size despite the damage. The collar itself is beautiful and of excellent quality. I got the havana/purple/brass for my german shorthair pointer and love it. I recommended it to a friend who bought two for her dogs and loves the collars as well.Carrie94

From the original tory leather – made in usa. this english bridle leather rolled collar has a solid brass buckle and dee. rolled collars do not rub or cause chafing, so they are especially good for short haired dogs. fitting instructions: tory collars have increments of 2", and five holes in each collar. for a proper fit (at approximately the middle hole), measure the dog's neck, and add 2". for example, if the dog's neck measures 14", order a 16" collar.

The quality and finish of the product seem very good (we haven't started using the new collar yet) but I was disappointed by the weight/cut of the collar…it is less robust / "finer" than what i expected. In hind-sight it was difficult to tell from the pictures on the website.B Lynch
