Our two westies have had barking issues in the past. Purchased for my bull arab (50kg) who goes barking mad on the way to the beach in the tray of the ute. It's only excitement but upsets all other dogs around. I only put it on 3-4 and he barked once, then was quiet for the rest of the ride. Exactly what i was after Only ever have had to use it on level 2 and it has shocked my dog maybe twice and she doesn’t really bark much at all anymore. I only have to put it on every now and again if she gets barky again but it’s made an amazing difference in our home. I purchased the bark collar a few weeks ago now and have found it's worked really well in training our German Shepherd. She's an excited 4yr old who doesn't seem to grow out of the puppy stage! She would bark at birds, people walking past, neighbours in their yards, our cars pulling in….. etc and generally driving everyone crazy. We tried stopping the barking by putting on a bark muzzle each time she barked however you couldn't leave it on when you went out for the day and so it was never consistent. The first week of using the bark collar she seemed abit depressed, not running around like her usual self, now though she's used to it and back to her active self without barking! The only issues we've had is the collar does move, she's a long haired German Shepherd and I feel I have to do the collar up very tight to keep the contact between prongs and skin even though they're the long prongs, the only other issue was once after barking in response to the collar she yelped and it set the bark collar off again and became a cycle of yelping/zapping, fortunately we were able to get to her quickly and take the collar off to stop the cycle because it was horrific when it happened. We haven't had any further occurrences like that though and have continued using the collar. Now even when we have our friends dog over and I take the bark collar off while they play she doesn't bark. I would definitely recommend using a bark collar to train your dog if their a nuisance barker like ours was. This is the one for us… I wish I had purchased the BT-7 BarkCollar BT-7 in the first place! Spending the extra money and doing your research is worth it! Our Labrador is now calm and happy. She only barks to alert us to an intruder or a perceived danger. Prior to purchasing this collar… We noticed a sudden change in her behaviour when we moved house. 5am pedestrians and dog walkers and foxes passing by would set her off and we’d often have to get out of bed to give positive reinforcement or bring her inside. In the beginning, I purchased the Petsafe Basic Bark Control Collar – PBC19-10765. It came with free Replacement Batteries and I purchased an extra pack to save on future postage. Initially, our Labrador responded quickly and barking reduced, however, I don’t believe that was the correct unit for our girl. Her irritability and persistent barking returned to full on annoyance after about four weeks. We replaced the first two complementary batteries, every 4-6 weeks and by August, I purchased 2 replacement Petsafe Red Nylon Straps, as they deteriorate and become too loose. After months of persevering, I returned to Bark Control website to do some further research. It came in a timely manner. Directions were OK. It took several overnight charges for the beep to sound when tested, although I've never heard it while the dog is wearing the collar. We adjusted the collar several times, making it tighter each time. This dog is an older SPCA shelter dog, so we don't know his background. He has cataracts and is hard of hearing, so he barks at shadows and vehicle engine sounds that we don't always hear. We've tried to control his barking without success, with water spray in the face, ultrasonic sound, dog whistle, and the Bark Boss. None have worked including this. Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. OK I needed to get my younger boy to check himself with the over excessive barking but I never wanted to use anything like the shock collar which to me is a little inhumane. The one thing I noticed that did work is spraying him with a water bottle,however that’s not practical when he’s far away in the yard or trying to chase him down to do it. We have a 4 year old German Shepherd who has never barked at anything until just recently. The more we socialize her with other dogs she learns more behaviors. I have a 9 month old puppy who is barking non stop a couple times a day. I found the Premier Pet Bark Collar and thought this might be the trick. I am glad I did so far we have reduced these barking times to shorter times and less often. We do not leave the collar on all the time but do put it on when he starts the barking. He knows the minute we get the collar out what is going on and stops barking but we put on the collar to reinforce the good behavior. Our goal is to not need the collar after a month or so. Purchased for my bull arab (50kg) who goes barking mad on the way to the beach in the tray of the ute. It's only excitement but upsets all other dogs around. I only put it on 3-4 and he barked once, then was quiet for the rest of the ride. Exactly what i was after Only ever have had to use it on level 2 and it has shocked my dog maybe twice and she doesn’t really bark much at all anymore. I only have to put it on every now and again if she gets barky again but it’s made an amazing difference in our home. I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I am dog trainer, I have been using Electric Collars for over 15 years. I was married with another major brand for me it was the best brand on electric collars I even refused to try new ones. One day I was traveling to a seminar in Denver with my Mondioring sport dog and the TSA at the airport remove my 2 electric collars from my carry on bag. Once in the seminar I met a participant who has an extra 300TS and she offered to sell the collar to me I was in need of a collar so I agree and bought the collar from her. At the end of the 1rst day of the seminar I was almost convinced that the 300TS was superior to my other collars even my most expensive one. It took me awhile to really use this product consistently, but I'm glad I did. I have a stubborn bulldog mix that I rescued from my local animal shelter and she had lots of bad habits that were getting worse over time. My dog's biggest problems were leash pulling, not listening to come/sit, jumping on our bed and – worst of all – aggression toward other dogs, usually while on walks, and even my husband. I looked into sending her away to a local training camp that was very expensive. When I got their paperwork, one of the terms of agreement was you had to buy and use this model of training collar. Worked great kept my chihuahua in the yard after only a few days of training. the sad part is we had him finally trained to stay in the yard wo a lead and a neighbors pit (one of 4) dug under their fence and attacked him & me. Although he survived The initial attack (and the shock collar survived as well as it was bitten off & scratched but still works) my dog died a week later from complications before surgery. This works great on my Pomeranian. I needed something to keep him from running into the road, onto the school bus with my kids, or into the neighbors yards. I don't even have to use the shock setting, the vibrate setting on 80-100 works wonders. He now comes when I call him without me having to use it. This is an effective tool to train your dog with options to not have to shock the dog unnecessarily. The collar has a good range as my dog has come running back from 4 houses down on the first day when we used it the first time. It has a beep warning that has been very effective in the training process. As soon as my dog hears that beep it stops and sits. It also has a vibration that I use instead of the shock that is very effective. It has an intensity level that can be set. I got this bark collar for my two dogs and it worked wonderfully for a few months. They completely stopped barking! But then, the battery wouldn't stay charged. I was told that I might be doing something wrong that ruined the battery. Customer Service was uber helpful (5 stars for them!) and they sent me a new collar for free. I ended up going through five collars in just a few months with the same problem each time. The rechargeable battery is the only problem with this product, but it is a huge problem. When I finally asked Customer Service if they had any spray collars with a different type of battery, they directed me to the Elite Spray Bark Collar. When I got the collar they only had the one for little dogs, but it still works amazingly for my big dogs! It does all the same things as the rechargeable one except that it uses non-rechargeable batteries. These batteries last way longer than the rechargeable one though so it's a win-win! Supposed to have 35-45 sprays but it sure didn’t. We put the collar on him and angled the camera so we could watch him and try to train him to stop. He barked and it sprayed. He continued to bark. It continued to spray. It shut off like it’s supposed to. We went in and the whole place smelled like citronella. We walked back out after trying to calm him. He barked and it sprayed. He kept barking and then it stopped spraying and started flashing that it was out. The. Citronella cartridge only had maybe 5-8 sprays. We had to leave for a few hours that afternoon and we put the unscented cartridge in. After being gone for only an hour or two it was empty as well. We watched video of him and he continued to bark through the sprays. It had no effect. However, it also only had maybe 10ish sprays in it total. The cartridges aren’t worth the money as they don’t have what they are supposed to have in them. The collar was not worth the money as the spray didn’t even phase our dog. Maybe it works for others but it didn’t do anything for us apart from leave a citronella smell in the air for a few minutes.MarkD504
For starters I am not a person who usually leaves reviews but this product deserves it! I bought two of these collars for my two of my noisier dogs. I have tried everything to control their barking – trying to distract them with treats, spraying them with water to correct the behaviour, using high frequency clicker and using a training collar that I would beep if they barked as a warning and then it would vibrate if they barked again. None of these worked so I gave up for a bit, until I saw this collar come up as I was researching new collars to try – I decided to give it a shot since it was different than the methods I have previously tried. My god, it is incredible! I put the collar on my noisiest dog, a terrier, (his barking is out of control) and he barked once and it sprayed him and he has not barked since – I went from having him bark at every little sound he heard outdoors to peace and quiet. Our new pup now almost 1 1/2 years old, was a barking machine. Hard to control or stop. We got this hoping that would help and it has. Our dog has a LOT of fur and it was hard to get contact but when that issue was resolved we noticed the barking decreased within a day or two. When we took off the collar, there was a tendency for our dog to ramp up again but once it was back on, the excess barking stopped. The dog has now figured out, collar on, no barking. The PetSafe Bark Collar has been a tremendous help with our Australian Shepard who loved to bark at anything and everything from dusk until dawn. We put the collar on right away and it started working immediately for him. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all. I think it startled him more than anything but he is fine. Once received we read the instruction manual and did as it said but no matter what we did nothing was working. Wasn't sure if these would work, shock collaers were definately out, I think they are cruel, wasn't sure about the lemon spraying ones either. Thought I would give these a try for my very gobby 3 afghan hound girls and think they are very reasonably priced compared to others. We have a small lane by the side of us where people walk dogs, and they generally have to run the gauntlet of my lot racing to the fence and barking like mad, taking no notice of me telling them to stop. I had been working from home for a number of months so my Chihuahua was used to me being with him. The first few times I left him he barked all day and my neighbour complained as I live in a flat. disappointed. Its a poor design. The rounded part (NOT the part against the dogs neck) is what really vibrates. My dog (35lb spaniel) doesn't seem to feel it! Also "high" vs "low" setting – Low is slow, High is faster, but still not vibrating MORE! I intend to try to put it on some other way adn trying more, but so far totally useless.
