I knew about this product for several weeks, but I delayed in getting it. I thought I'd give the puppy a chance with regular training methods (treats, praise, verbal corrections) before I started futzing with a special collar and have to buy it in two sizes. That was really stupid. I wish I would have bought it sooner and spent the money on the two sizes. I got this one in a size Medium and it fits perfectly with just an easy adjustment of the buckle. Our little man is a Labradoodle, now at about 32 lbs and expected to reach a 60-ish weight probably. He is VERY high energy, very strong and very smart, but our little darling is no longer little and I have been finding myself struggling with his 32 lb self pulling on the walks. I cannot imagine when he is full grown, so I decided finally to nip this in the bud and I ordered the gentle leader. It arrived today and I was amazed at how he has NO power to pull AT ALL. Have tried several harnesses to help with our super hard pulling Frenchie so was a bit cynical that anything could help him but really surprised to say how well this is working. Great halter that seems to work. The only problem with it is that I went by the recommendation and purchased the XL version for a Labrador and it is too big. I like the fact that it is on slider and loosens and tightens as the dog pulls and loosens when he comes to heel. With it being too big he does tend to be able to get out of it but with it being attached to his collar it is no problem and he still cant escape – just need to convince him to let me put it back on! I had high hopes for this collar as my older dog has a chronic condition and we are all very tired of his cone bumping into all of us and the whole house, and so is he. But, despite measuring and it appearing to fit exactly as described in the instructions, he had NO TROUBLE getting to the growth on his underside. Complete waste of time and money. I knew about this product for several weeks, but I delayed in getting it. I thought I'd give the puppy a chance with regular training methods (treats, praise, verbal corrections) before I started futzing with a special collar and have to buy it in two sizes. That was really stupid. I wish I would have bought it sooner and spent the money on the two sizes. I got this one in a size Medium and it fits perfectly with just an easy adjustment of the buckle. Our little man is a Labradoodle, now at about 32 lbs and expected to reach a 60-ish weight probably. He is VERY high energy, very strong and very smart, but our little darling is no longer little and I have been finding myself struggling with his 32 lb self pulling on the walks. I cannot imagine when he is full grown, so I decided finally to nip this in the bud and I ordered the gentle leader. It arrived today and I was amazed at how he has NO power to pull AT ALL. I even noticed that in many situations like when he would normally lunge at something, he didn't, maybe that is just from the novelty and will eventually wear off, but for today, it was as if he had a total attitude adjustment. It was like magic. He is none too pleased about the new situation, for sure, but I am pleased as punch. Will take a few days of working with him to get used to it so he stops trying to pull it down with his paws, but even when he was trying he couldn't get it off successfully unless I let off on the tension to the leash altogether which I was able to correct for easily enough. These are the ONLY collar I purchase for my dog. He’s an escape artist, so harnesses and regular collars have never worked out for us. I purchased one collar four years ago, and just recently purchased the same in a different color. The only reason I’m giving a 4 is because the newer collar seems slightly different… cheaper and thinner almost, and the metal clasp is fading in less than six months. These are our preferred collars when our dog is struggling with a hotspot. We like the trim on the edge, and the option for colours. However know that the range of sizes skews small. We bought two that corresponded to neck size, but the cone depth is insufficient. You need a cone depth that exceeds the end of your dog’s snout. Our 95 lb, 8 month old female Cane Corso is a COMPLETELY different pup with this collar on. I don't really have to pull or tug at all because the pressure from her walking when she gets to the end of the leash when I stop walking she sits down. The cheap prong collar we got talked into from a local pet store during the puppt training class Zoey would still pull and try to scoot closer while sitting when she wantex to greet my wife or myself. With this collar she didn't try to pull or scoot towards either one of us at opposite ends of the hall. You can take the extra links out by hand by bending and using the leverage from the link that's staying on the collar, BUT needle nose plyers are needed to pinch the links closed back to factory specs. High quality stainless steel with blunt ridges on the INSIDE of the collar keep anyone from making comments about prong collars and the prong collars aren't rated near as high as these Neck Teck stainless collars. This one we got is rated for 150 lb dogs… She'll grow into it considering her dad was 150 lbs & her mom was 110 lbs, she above average size for her age. I can't say enough good things about this collar. HIGHLY recommed this to anyone who has issues with their dog pulling when on leash.
