I bought this collar a couple weeks ago, and I am so glad I did! My dog, Bella, constantly pulled against her flat collar on walks and when she’d see another dog or person, she would lunge. The constant pulling made me concerned for the damage she was doing to her trachea. This pulling behavior also caused me to stumble along awkwardly behind her, while trying not to fall. I felt like I wasn’t in control, but with this collar, I am! I noticed an immediate difference with her behavior on the first walk. I introduced the collar to her gently before our walk so she would feel the pinch and know not to lunge forward. We have been using it on all our walks for the last couple weeks and she no longer pulls. Her interactions with other dogs and people have become less reactive as well. I am not worried about her damaging her trachea or about her pulling me to the ground anymore. It has restored order to the time I spend with her walking and enjoying the nice weather! We have gone through two of these in two days! The quick release mechanism is what broke both times. We have a 50 pound Husky that we put on a tether in our yard. The first time it broke, the quick release mechanism shattered. The second time it broke partially but remains non functional. The dog got loose and ended up on a busy road. We’ve only had him for a month and because it’s winter we haven’t explored the neighborhood as much as we would like. I introduced this to my puppy who started off with just a harness. The harness didn't teach him any leash manners. He was constantly veering off in every direction, especially when he saw another dog or person. This collar provided better control and helped me gain back the "pack leadership" during our walks. I bought this collar about three months ago for my Goldendoodle puppy. Today on our walk he was not even pulling, but the leash was taut and the collar broke at the ring closest to the nylon. The collar has some pretty big (1") sensor probes that look not so comfortable on the neck, probably necessary for the deterrent. The on/off is pretty sensitive to get it on, you need a dime or something to turn on/off which is good so when the dog wears it the normal movements won't accidentally turn it off. That being said, it is necessary to move it around to the exact position and confirm green light that it is on. You can't just turn it to the word ON, it may need to be ever so slightly adjusted a fraction one way or the other to make sure it is on. Our particular experience seemed to work well on our dog, it only took a couple of times of it vibrating to startle our dog and get her to realize that it was because she barked. It didn't seem to vibrate on growling only barking and we had it pretty tight and her hair is short. It would not be something you would want to leave on your dog forever because I am sure the probes in the neck are not so comfortable for the dog. Overall my dog has reduced her barking about 90% even without the collar on. If she has a particular barking episode on our lanai we put the collar back on for a while and she figures it out. She does seem pretty sad with it on but she is learning quickly and hopefully it won't be for long. The vibration doesn't seem to hurt her, just startle her and that does the job. I think the results could really vary from dog to dog and maybe the breed tendencies play into it. For the investment and result WE got it was well worth it to have less barking here in Hawaii and that peace for us and our neighbors.SDaymon
I tried the bird house bark control device with disastrous results (see my review). I needed something, because my outside, extremely nervous, submissive dog barks incessantly. A harsh word, and she reacts as if she's been struck, which she never is. She flinched with sudden moves. This led me to be extremely cautious when seeking a bark control collar. I discussed it with my vet, and we decided that due to her personality, a vibration collar would probably be the best choice. It has been fantastic! Does not work at 100 yards as advertised. I bought this because I have a big yard and the invisible fences do not offer a big enough range for my dog to roam. I bought this trainer because of the 100 yard range it claimed to have, thinking I could give my dog more room to play and run. My house sets about 80 yards off the road in front of our house. I have tried several times to correct my from the house before he gets to the road and it would not work.I have to be with-in 30 yards of my dog before it works. I have a crazy dog that is a Lab-Pointer. He was the worse in his puppy class. I have trained dogs before, big dogs and hunting dogs. This guy doesn’t get it! He gets the trading collar though. I have had this for months. I only shocked him once. I rarely “ buzz” him on a low vibrational mode to stop unwanted behaviors like over exuberant jumping on visitors. It works. I have the upland hunting version, partly for locating the dog in thick brush, same brand. Both are very helpful. I purchased this one as I wanted a wireless version vs the perimeter one I had to bury. We use this when we go fishing as well as around the house. We have only had to use the continuous shock once at level 2. The tone works so well we dont really need the other features but we have them just in case, our dog decides to be really stubborn in the future. My favorite is how easy it is to use, charge and the fact the tone is the best way to get my dog's attention. It has not taken long for him to know the remote goes to his collar and that just showing him he knows to heel or the tone sound will come on and get his attention quickly. Literally bought this as my second attempt first was a petsafe wireless fence and it wasn’t as user friendly as this petsport with a remote. I’m able to keep basic corrections in house and outside in the yard! I was worried it wouldn’t be small enough for my mini Heeler but the collar comes with an abundant amount of holes for proper fit on anything ! Supper pleased with the collar and the three bases it has for training. The beep tone the one hit simulation and the longer hit stimulation gives me theee options to ask my dog according to what she’s doing. My 75 lb boxer is on the adjunct staff of my cardiologist. His job is to walk me, hard, every day, 30-45 min. I have osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis as well as heart issues. When I used the training collar for the first time, it was like magic. Those plastic teeth work perfectly. Before, the dog usually behaved, but a nearby squirrel, or another dog, could be too much temptation to pull. Now, the gentlest tug and the usual "Leave it" command keep us walking like pros. I have little trouble disconnecting the links, but really, folks, surely you can add large tips to the cord ends instead of permanently joining them to a ring: one tip is the leash loop and male connector; the other is the female connector and release button. How hard is that? Connected, the collar fits with proper snugness after the owner adds or removes links. Disconnected, the collar opens so far it will slip over the dog's head and ears with ease. No more complaints from owners of impatient, wiggly dogs. Sure, this would add a dollar or five to the price. Big deal. Ease of use would be worth it. I have a 100 pound dog and it pulled so bad that nobody in the house could walk it except for me. And it was a struggle even for me. I had to keep an eye on her at all times because is she took out after a squirrel or something and I wasnt prepared, she would either break free or throw my shoulder out. Hi. We just started using the collar on Saturday. It is amazing. Cleo is not uncomfortable and more settled. No more bunny hopping & barking (large german shepherd) at the front door when the postman comes. The neighbours are not complaining. We are home this week and keeping an eye on her and reafirming when she is quiet. I think the collar had only got to about level 2 a couple of times over the last couple of days. Researching and ordering the collar from the Bark Control website was seamless. The bark collar was received in short time via Australia Post Express. It appears to be well made and fairly robust. Operation of and fitting the collar is easy, directions are included and are simple to follow. Also, his barking in the backyard has improved tremendously. I send him out, and if he starts barking excessively, I hit the tone button and it stops. I now have no fear about taking him out in "public." Some worry that it makes them more aggressive, etc., but I will tell you he is still the same playful, lovable dog. I love this collar. I've been using it for over 15 years with my dogs. My first one was on an Alaskan Malamute I adopted. This is great that it stays loose on their neck when around the house (I jokingly call it dog pajamas), and it shortens to the appropriate size on walks so it does not slip off. Very comfortable and humane for fluffy coat dogs. I also hear some people think this type of collar should not exist. Four months ago we picked up a 3 year old yellow lab at a shelter near Denver. The dog is lovable, has had some hunting experience, but was WILD when we got him. It was necessary to keep him tethered at all times, or he was GONE for 20 minutes pursuing some scent in the nearby forest (we back up to public land). I purchased this device in the hopes I could control him. To my surprise I discovered he must have had some time with a similar device. He instantly responded to the Tone/Vibration mode. When he would start to take off, one tap on that mode made him instantly come back. Only if he chased a deer on hikes did I have to "tingle" him a little. He would immediately drop the chase. I bought the sport dog 425x for my lab a few months ago & loved it but it recently fell off him while we were walking on a trail and I was never able to find it. The Herm Springer prong collar has made our new German Shepherd puppy behave much much better. It even had an effect on her the first time I put it on her. After a few gentle tugs, she got the message and now walks with me in stride. When she has just her regular collar on, she wants to pull, strain and do just what she wants to do, but this prong collar has put us back in control. It's like having power steering on this pup. I am glad I ran across a YouTube video about it. Would definitely recommend to anyone. I’m very happy with this purchase. It is exactly what I expected. I’m lucky that my boy is well behaved or I’d never be able to put this collar on. It is quite difficult to latch for me. I can’t imagine trying to put this collar on a wriggling dog. I hope that I will only need to use this collar a couple of times. I purchased it on the advice of my trainer. My dog outweighs me by a bit and after a Boxer attacked his sister and he yanked me off my feet trying to defend her it was decided he needed a Come to Jesus Meeting aid. I definitely DO NOT recommend this collar unless you know what you are doing and the collar is fitted correctly. These collars unfortunately get a bad rap. The are not barbaric collars that inflict pain. Not if used for their intended purpose and when used correctly. They are "corrective" collars. I have used them for years. I purchased three on this site because Sprenger is the only brand I like. There is no reason to use an x-large size on a large dog. It is overkill. I use medium on 25 lb dogs up to 125 pound dogs. The large is almost the same as the medium but anything larger is too big, bulky, heavy and unnecessary. These are very well made and the three collars I purchased came well packaged and arrived very quickly. Stick with Sprenger. They are the bestTrainer

It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. Battery life not best, no off switch for remote, and you can only do 2 choices quickly (tone and vibrate or tone and static) only negatives. I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! The Dogtra Arc collar is just what my American Treeing Feist, 11 month puppy needed. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around.
