I purchased two of these lights to become part of my personal kit – a red one to replace the rechargeable red light I have worn on the back of my rucksack during night searches, and a green one as I’ve quickly realised I can colour-code the navigator in a party I’m leading. The Nav normally is a bit of a way ahead of the rest of the party and this light makes it incredibly easy to see where they are. Both lamps are bright, with a very pleasing flash rate, and the ability to flip the battery to gain a solid light is a mark of genius, Whoever designed these should be very proud! Nice little lights, I attach the carabiner version to the deck lines at each end of my sea kayak. I obviously can't turn them on myself whilst paddling but my buddy can easily do so. I was a little worried they might not be bright enough but buddies say they are very visible at distance. Great for increasing my visibility if we lose light whilst on the water. I bought all three colors in this collar since I have 3 dogs. I absolutely love this collar! I looked in all kinds of pet stores looking for one like this. All they had that was similar was the kind with the plastic clip to attach it to its self. Well my dogs are all 100+ lbs as I own Dobermans and they are big enough and strong enough to break the clip, so those kinds would not hold up to my guys. These Guardian Gear Martingale collars work very well! There's nothing to break off and they can't choke themselves at all with this collar. I order and use many collars, including prong style, as a professional dog trainer. This brand is not the highest quality but for the price it is a reasonable purchase. Unfortunately, due to the mid level quality of materials, they sometimes come bent out of shape, as was the case with one of the nine I ordered in this shipment. I will have to pay to return this item, which almost makes is not worth the cost, which is also disappointing. Overall, if you are looking to use a prong training collar for a short period of time to modify behavior one of these should work fine. We purchased two Guardian Pronged Dog Collars for two 65 pound, lunging, uncooperative Huskies that were next to impossible to walk. Literally the first time we walked them with the pronged collars they walked with us, no lunging, and minimal straining against the collar.The collars are really a bargain, well made, come with rubber tips which we've since removed as they sometimes come off (probably easily remedied with a dab of crazy glue. I wanted this for my parents boxer that jumps on my daughter every time they babysit her. She is only five and it upsets her. Since they have been using this, he no longer jumps on her anymore. There doggy is about 8 years old. Training him to do something WAS impossible. This little collar and remote worked for their old boy. My parents trained him by telling him, "no jumping". When someone would come in and they said this, if he did not listen, they gave him a little shock. It took two days of an hour training each day to have him listen without a shock. We would knock and he would get so excited, he starts wiggling all over ready to pounce. They would give him the command and if he did not abide, they pushed the button. Now when someone knocks on the door, they turn the collar on and answer the door. They do not need to use the collar, because when they say, "no jumping", he listens. They have been opening the door recently without telling him and he still does not jump. He now gives people time to come and and sit down, then he comes for a good rubbing. The box comes with all the batteries and dog training advice to help with you and your doggy's journey to obedience. All you need is your doggy and a little bit of patience and time to take the stress out of both of your lives. This collar and remote is amazing, even for old dogs. This is not painful, it just gets their attention, and they listen. You are not recommended to try the collar out yourself, but, most pets parents want to assure themselves that they are not hurting their pets. My dad did this and said it truly is not painful. I hate giving bad reviews however I am still not sure where I stand with this training color for several reasons. It comes with something like 4 buzzers that they say doesn't hurt the pet and like 2 high pitched whistles that only a dog can hear and once again only irratates the pet but doesn't hurt the pet and both things are controlled with this handy little remote. I love the remote because it's so small I can forget it's in my pocket and I love they include all the 3v batteries because to get up and running you have to use 4 batteries and even tho I haven't priced these no round battery is cheap when you have to use so many at one time. The remote is good for 75 feet from the collar which is a plus however my concern is there is 2 round metal ends that fit down onto the dog so when you stimulate to teach the buzz goes through these metal ends. There are 12 different levels of stimulation. No they don't hurt the human however for a dog to wear this collar all the time and then it would depend how much you train your pet so then how much you are using the zapper I call it and on which level. There is just so much what if's to this collar and actually the same goes for the sound. My dog doesn't like any of it. She is a small mutt but she knows what she likes even if I don't. A larger dog probably wouldn't mind it however using the sound to much to train I would think could turn around and have a reverse effect and you might have one mad dog. Maybe it is just my dog and just not used to that collar. The things that send the vibrations thru, are not sharp or anything but I wonder if used to much if it would be harmful. I think its good if you keep an eye on everything. The directions say take off after 12 hours, if all else fails with me since my mutt still messes in the apt. she is going to get a small vibration or the hearing everytime and maybe that will teach her to wait on me. I ordered this for the new puppy in the home, although it was probably overkill for the type of puppy that she is. About a year ago, I tried to adopt a deaf puppy who had some really bad habits already, and it was tough to train her without using my voice. A device like this would have been perfect, but these trainers abroad are tough to find, and if you find them, they cost 3 times the price. I tested the Guardian trainer on my leg first before putting it on my dog because I needed to know HOW it felt, and how the levels differed in strength. I can definitely say that the first 4 levels were strong enough for me and produced enough displeasure that I don't know how an animal wouldn't respond to it. Then again, I felt the static strongly on the first levels, but on a dog, the static has to pass through fur, and maybe lots of it!! After following the directions to install both battery packs, I placed the collar on my puppy's neck. I was kind of ready for the training because there were times she needed a little bit more of a nudge than a stern voice or a tap on the nose. After asking her to stop biting the chair leg more than once, I pressed the button on the remote. If one level didn't get a response, I pressed the next yellow button on the remote until she ceased the behavior. This puppy is very smart and stopped the behavior immediately. I use it intermittently, like in the mornings when she is hyper and loves to give my schnauzer a run for her money, grabbing her by the beard and dragging her around the living room floor. Sometimes asking multiple times for a cease-fire isn't conducive for time OR training in an appropriate time-frame. This is when sending the signal becomes appropriate to stop this behavior. After about an hour of settling down, I remove the collar. My final thoughts: This type of device is really meant for the most stubborn of dogs, like a sharpei-lab I had many years ago who just was pure alpha. (A pinch collar didn't even phase this dog at all.) Also, it would have been great for the deaf dog I mentioned earlier, not only for controlling unwanted behavior and training, but also on low levels to get her attention. Obviously, it's necessary to start at a low level to see where you land. I can't imagine why one would need to surpass the 2nd level, but then again, there are all sorts of dogs with BIG personalities that need more aggressive training. I do like the device, and found it to be useful in training my puppy. It was very effective and probably reduced my training time by about 50%!!

This collar is 100% useless. I bought it because I noticed that under "Guardian" it said, "By PetSafe". My sister has a PetSafe bark collar that she uses for her German Shepherd, and it works perfectly. I figured this would be essentially the same, since it was roughly the same price. I was wrong. The collar DOES NOT WORK. I mean, the test it instructs you to do before putting it on the dog, showed that the collar itself was not broken or nonfunctional. It did exactly what it was supposed to– when you run the prongs along a flat surface for at least 10 seconds, it will beep & a red light will flash. So, it was tested & appeared to be functional. I put it on my 47 pound, 9 month old female Pitbull, & it did NOTHING. She barked right through it… I gave it hours, thinking maybe it just had to work up to a higher level. But nope. She just barked more and more and more. I promptly returned this to the Walmart store I purchased it from, and now I'm back on the hunt for one that does work. I may end up having to spend double. But I'd rather spend double for one that DOES WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO, than save money and have a useless piece of plastic strapped to a cheap, flimsy collar. Which is another thing…. the collar itself is VERY VERY VERY cheap. It's like dollar store material. The plastic buckle is flimsy and light. The buckles that adjust the collar size are the same flimsy material, and they DO NOT HOLD. The collar does not stay fitted or firm. It loosens right up. We have 2 Puggles, one of them is overly vocal and the 2nd tends to follow what the older one does. We adopted our loud mouth when he was a little over 5 years old, I'm pretty sure his barking is what landed him in the shelter in the first place. We have tried many other items to try to curb his barking none of which have worked. The sonic egg surprisingly worked for about 2 days before he started barking louder to drown out the sound of it. When I say overly vocal, I mean he barks at anything and everything. Not just a little bark, but an ear piercing headache causing bark. He barks when someone nocks on the door, at people walking down the street, and all delivery trucks. He even barks when someone he has seen and knows well comes over wearing something unfamiliar to him, like a baseball cap. For 4 years now we've been patient with him, but recently a neighbor complained about how he barks at ALL the delivery trucks. The last thing we want is to have problems with neighbors. So, we finally broke down and searched for a decent bark collar that wouldn't break the bank especially being only a few days before Christmas. I was a little hesitant that anything would work being that he's over 9 years old. To my surprise this thing works exactly as described, and we are loving the peace and quiet. The first day we put it on him, he ran to the fence to bark at an unfamiliar truck driving down the street. He let out the first bark no problem, but after the second bark he yelped and that was it. He's never made it beyond a second bark. The second day he barked only once at the mail truck and stopped, he knows the first bark wont do anything. I'm good with him barking once, just not continuously for 5-10 minutes straight. We take the collar off him at night because he's usually pretty quiet at night anyway, but first thing in the morning it goes back on him. He's quiet when he's wearing it, and honestly seems happier to me now that he's not focused on barking at everything. He can still do his low happy excited howl when he greets us without setting off the collar so I'm happy about that. I'm going to give him about 3 months of wearing it during the day and then we'll try him without it. My younger dog is also being quiet because his brother isn't constantly barking anymore. I have 2 ANNOYING dogs that we love SO VERY MUCH!! lol We live in a subdivision where we have tons of cars, tons of bikers, tons of walkers, tons of kids getting on and off the bus, and wildlife at night. MY DOGS HATE COMING INSIDE AND CANNOT STAND ANYONE OUTSIDE OF THE FAMILY OR ANY OTHER ANIMAL IN THEIR SIGHT RANGE! So our shed outback is their "doghouse" with heat lamps and cozy bedding. THEY DROVE US NUTS EVERY SINGLE DAY AND EVERY SINGLE NIGHT BEFORE WE PURCHASED THESE COLLARS!! I've bought about 4 different outdoor barking systems from Amazon and Petsmart that looked like inconspicuous birdhouses, but they never worked well or lasted long. We would use sound machines at night to drown them out!! If we knock on the windows during the day, they used that as a signal to stop, but they would only stop long enough to run to the backdoor before they were off barking at anyone and everything again!! This Guardian Bark Collar is AMAZING for us, and I'm SURE our neighbors think so too!! When we do hear barking, we know it is either needing a new battery or the collars need to be tightened. These have been worth every penny to us!! Customer service/warranty through PetSafe has been tremendous as well!! I always forget to leave reviews but quickly remembered as I am only here leaving this one bc I was about to buy a 3rd collar for our dachshund/chihuahua mix who has taken over all the barking since the other two have stopped!! I bought all three colors in this collar since I have 3 dogs. I absolutely love this collar! I looked in all kinds of pet stores looking for one like this. All they had that was similar was the kind with the plastic clip to attach it to its self. Well my dogs are all 100+ lbs as I own Dobermans and they are big enough and strong enough to break the clip, so those kinds would not hold up to my guys. These Guardian Gear Martingale collars work very well! There's nothing to break off and they can't choke themselves at all with this collar. I purchased this for our beagel that we were bringing camping with us and did not want any issues with his barking. We let him wear it at home for about a week and within that week he was no longer barking. Maybe 1ce or 2ce. I agree with the other reviewer, it needs to be tight and high on the neck. I have never heard it go off for no reason, nor when the dog is shaking his head. My only complaint is the battery life, we have had this for only about a month and a half and it is ready for new batteries. Also if you read the directions you can test to see if it is working by rubbing the contacts on a hard surface to hear the beep. Overall worked great for us!!Cheryl2501
i bought two like this at walmart. was alittle concerned because of other reviews. but i figure for the price i would buy and use one to see if it would work. as soon as i put it on the first dog he barked and then jumped. so we relied it worked and put the other one on the other dog. we have had them for about a week and we are down to a few barks a day between two dog. only problem we are having is one likes to shake his head and it will go off. he is not used to wearing a collar. but other than that it is great.schnauzerowner
I have owned 2 of these bark collars for almost 6 years, and they work wonderfully! I am buying another for a new dog. I have never had any trouble with my collars, I replace batteries, and that is it. Once the dogs figure out that the collar is on, they don't bark. It even works when the batteries are dead, until they forget and bark and then realize they can! Then, oh well, new batteries! I love this collar…texasgirl45

I purchased two of these lights to become part of my personal kit – a red one to replace the rechargeable red light I have worn on the back of my rucksack during night searches, and a green one as I’ve quickly realised I can colour-code the navigator in a party I’m leading. The Nav normally is a bit of a way ahead of the rest of the party and this light makes it incredibly easy to see where they are. Nice little lights, I attach the carabiner version to the deck lines at each end of my sea kayak. I obviously can't turn them on myself whilst paddling but my buddy can easily do so. I was a little worried they might not be bright enough but buddies say they are very visible at distance. Great for increasing my visibility if we lose light whilst on the water. I have to admit that I was very impressed with the quality of the Backcountry collar. The material is a thick rubber that is both soft and strong. It doesn't have the sticky feeling most rubber has (especially when wet) so it doesn't pull or rub on the hair. The inside of the collar gets a greasy film that builds up after a while of wearing, however, one of the best things about this collar is how easy it is to clean! Soap and water is all you need and it dries immediately so you don't have to wait to put it back on your pup. It has a durable clip and slides easily when adjusting it to size.Brittany
this is a different material than any collar that i have ever used. it is a flexible plastic. at first i was dismayed but it sure makes it easier to clean than others that i have had. also, it is very strong. even the buckles and where they are attached. fortunately, my dog isn't a strong puller so i am not sure how strong it would be if he were more aggressive. he weighs 22 1/2 lbs and is poodle/bichon. the small fit perfectly.artc
This silicone collar is rad because it doesn't tatter over time, so it basically still looks brand new even after a couple of months of wear. My dog likes to run through bushes and tall grass so I really like this feature.
