I bought this about 2 weeks ago my dog pulled on the leash so bad I mean I couldnot get a handle on her I was using a flat collar she kept choking herself on it then i switched her to a herm sprenger she was to sensitive to it and it stained her neck I heard a professional dog trainer talking about this and I remember him saying this is great for dogs that are sensitive to the metal prongs so I said ok you know what I’ll order it it’s only 10 bucks we’ll see and WOW JUST WOW ! My 75 lb boxer is on the adjunct staff of my cardiologist. His job is to walk me, hard, every day, 30-45 min. I have osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis as well as heart issues. When I used the training collar for the first time, it was like magic. Those plastic teeth work perfectly. Before, the dog usually behaved, but a nearby squirrel, or another dog, could be too much temptation to pull. Now, the gentlest tug and the usual "Leave it" command keep us walking like pros. I have little trouble disconnecting the links, but really, folks, surely you can add large tips to the cord ends instead of permanently joining them to a ring: one tip is the leash loop and male connector; the other is the female connector and release button. How hard is that? Connected, the collar fits with proper snugness after the owner adds or removes links. Disconnected, the collar opens so far it will slip over the dog's head and ears with ease. No more complaints from owners of impatient, wiggly dogs. Sure, this would add a dollar or five to the price. Big deal. Ease of use would be worth it. I have a 100 pound dog and it pulled so bad that nobody in the house could walk it except for me. And it was a struggle even for me. I had to keep an eye on her at all times because is she took out after a squirrel or something and I wasnt prepared, she would either break free or throw my shoulder out. I did some research and came across this collar and it had some good reviews, so I got one. My dog stopped pulling INSTANTLY!!! No joke!! She was like, What the heck???, and has never pulled since! Shell sort of pull, but nothing at all like before. Now my 90 pound 10 year old walks her easily. This collar worked so good, I got another one for my much smaller Australian Shepard, and now she dont pull anymore either. The collar seems well made and its easy to adjust. Product initially worked well. Combination of tone, vibration, and shock works well for training. My golden retriever responded well. Unfortunately the second time I went to charge the collar, the connection between the collar and the charger would not make contact. I chatted with cabelas and asked if they could send me a new charger dongle and they said I wanted that option I would need to work directly with Garmin. They gave me the option to return by mail, but I didn't want to be without the collar for that long. I bought this collar about a year ago, and it is still just as effective and powerful today. This has all of the capabilities I need for training and enjoying my time with my dog. We bought this a couple months ago! Best investment we ever made! Our dog doesn't like the neighbours dog and would bark like crazy every time he was out in the yard. put the ecollar on him and only had to use the shock button a couple times and it stopped the bad behaviour in its tracks! My dog had surgery on his paw and has to wear a cone for 7 days. The one from the vet had plastic loops to connect to the collar. He has had a very difficult time getting comfortable and seeing around since the plastic wasn't really clear. I saw this online and bought it to see if it would help. I don't think any cone would be ideal but I have to say that this works out a lot better than the other cone. It took him a moment to get used to the fabric parts and ran into some items during that time. I don't love that it doesn't keep a round shape and just falls on his head while lying down, however, it's flexible fit allows for more movement when he lays next to an object, or me. I think it fits comfortably around the neck. He seems much more comfortable and able to fall asleep without without struggling to get adjusted. I am overall happy that I bought it. I think it was overpriced but in these situations I would pay a lot for his comfort.Hurley0902
I bought two of these products this week for my dog who’s neck is about 18inches. The company’s site recommends to size up if your pet is between sizes which he is between L/XL… this may not be the best option for all. In the size Large my dog had the right fit to see and function normally BUT he could still lick his leg, which was the whole reason for the cone. With the size XL it just barely velcros around his neck and he can’t do much because the top of the cone flops into his eyes constantly. This is still the best option over a traditional cone which is why this got a 3 and not a 1/5. The other issue I have with it is that it should have snaps instead of Velcro. Our dog isn’t particularly sensitive to sounds but the Velcro is right next to his ears and he’s terrified of it. I’d love a better version of this maybe a large that extends a little past 18 inches or maybe even a size L/XL. Honestly I would’ve returned the product if he didn’t get hair all over the velcro on both of them. Maybe if your pet is between sizes shop around for something else.DogParent25
I bought this when my sons husky got spayed at age 2. She didn’t like the plastic one we got from the vet and was bumping into everyone and it’s so jolting because they are hard plastic. This Zen one worked perfectly for her! She was much more comfortable and when she bumped into things it has some give. She could see out the clear windows which was nice too. She has a long nose and still was not able to reach her incision. My other sons dog (cattle dog mix) had an issue with his skin around the same time and got a bad hot spot so he needed to wear a cone for awhile. While he didn’t like any cones he did better with the plastic one from The vet because he didn’t like that this flopped on his face when he laid down. Recently my sons other husky needed one for an injury to her leg that required staples. She tolerated this cone very well and did not like the plastic one. So overall I say it’s worth a shot. I personally love this one, it’s easy to wash, easy to put on and take off you just weave their own collar through the straps and close it up with the Velcro. Just an FYI the round donut looking collar doesn’t work. We tried that as well and the husky was able to reach her incision so if you’re debating on that type or this one, definitely go with this one.Trish505

The 435 X series is really nice and has a small remote control that fits into my hand (I am only 5'4). The XS series is stronger (for large dogs that can be stubborn) and was too much for my need… that's why I really wanted the X series. The 825 X is the same as the 425 X except is has a longer distance reach (1/2 mile) but the remote is a little big bigger. Works great…. make sure you read the manual for the different settings and understand that this is not a training tool per say but a corrective tool (meaning your dog has to know and understand commands BEFORE using it)…Do NOT use as a punitive tool. The nice thing is this item allows you to choose either tone, vibration, or static mode. 99% of the time I only need to use vibration for my dog to get his attention (he cN get sobfocused on a scent that he doesn't pay attention to my commands). He sometimes takes off after a rabbit/wild pig etc. and that's when I have to use the static mode to quickly get his attention away from his chase. I really like that it is waterproof (my dog swims into ponds and rivers)…some other brands claim to be waterproof but really mean to say water resistant! I have tried everything I knew with this dog, built a relationship with him, treats, toys, praise and I wasn’t able to find anything that would motivate him to actually follow the commands that I knew he knew. I have owned a lot of equipment over the years for my 4 legged friends, all from various manufacturers. I can honestly say the Ruffwear brand are probably the best I have used. Strong and well made with quality hardware. I particularly like the seperate dog tag mounting point and rubber disc to cushion the tag. The item itself is mediocre at best. . It’s an overpriced collar with a plastic clip. There was a time when I really enjoyed your products. Now I have to sacrifice quality for the esthetic color that I want. . I would have much preferred and would even pay the up charge to have the color I chose with the metal buckle. I do a lot of hiking and backpacking with my pup and when he’s excited (which is often) I now have a concern for the durability of his collar AND his harness. All the buttons have great placement unlike other multi dog brands that require additional steps. I purchased this collar to go with the Garmin Pro 550. The system is of the highest quality, used by professional dog trainers who only want the best. Easy to pair with my existing transmitter and works exactly as intended. The only negative point I can make is the lack of colors. I have three hunting dogs, and my transmitter will work simultaneously with three collars. My transmitter has a color coded toggle in Red, Black and Blue to chose the dog that needs some encouragement. My transmitter came with a black collar, therefore, I just needed to buy a red and blue collar and all would be well in the world. Cabela's only sells this collar in Red! Great! One down, one to go. That is when I discovered that Cabela's only sells a "Red" additional collar when Garmin offers about ten different colors. Since Cabela's does not offer the Blue collar, I am forced to purchase the blue collar somewhere else. Both of our dogs LOVE swimming in the ocean. We don't particularly love washing their collars 2-4 times a week, though! These collars fit the bill of durability, style, and ease for us. I have an 11 pound puppy that was just spayed. So I purchased this to keep her from licking her incision site as she was able to get out of her ecollar and chew it up. What I liked about this pro collar is that her view wasn't obstructed and that she wasn't running in to my walls, furniture etc. she also seemed to be more comfortable in it. What is unfortunate is that she was still able to reach her incision site to lick if she really tried. I can really see this product working on a larger dog that has longer distance between their mouth and site of incision as not only would I need a larger pro collar and the dog would have to really bend farther to reach the incision. This is why I gave it three stars and not a 1 star. I don't see it working in situations where incisions are on limbs and such. So for instance, if my long 80 pound lab needed to have surgery on his belly or torso area I would purchase this again because he will have a longer distance to reach than my tiny flexible puppy. I have this collar. I used it last year when one of my girls had a lump removed from her chest. It was so much more comfortable for her to sleep in that a cone. She was able to see, eat, drink and do pretty much anything while wearing it. I just pulled it out again because my other girl had a cancer lump removed from her armpit area. I have Dachshunds so no cone stops them from licking if they have an injury lower than their midsection. But this worked wonders for both when the injury was on the chest and waist area. Some tips.. 1. It does require a collar to be attached to the inside loops to keep it securely on your dog. You can't just Velcro it on their neck or your dog will probably find a way to take it off pretty quickly. Also, make sure the ends of the tube are touching when you Velcro it or your dog can get around it to chew. 2. Make sure it id inflated enough. If it is not, your dog will get it off. 3. If your dog has an injury that is lower than waist area, it may not be enough to keep them from reaching that area.lilys mama
I've now purchased this twice for my cat when she had minor surgery and it has been a complete godsend. My cat was so stressed out with the cone because it significantly impaired visibility and didn't allow use of her whiskers. She was constantly stressed and trying to hide in the darkest, tiniest, craziest spaces, and would get stuck with the cone and unable to get out or move. Poor kitty. 🙁 She has a history of being bullied by other animals she lived with before we rescued her, and while she is usually very comfortable in our home, she was so scared and stressed from being unable to assess her surroundings and move around freely. Before we knew about the collar we tried a soft cone (didn't help) and two kinds of bandages (didn't stop her from picking at the wound anyway). Then we found ProCollar (the 2nd one we bought is called ZenCollar but it looks/functions the same) and it was such a lifesaver! Once we put this on her, she became almost instantly more relaxed and back to the sweet and loving cat we knew. I am so thankful somebody thought of this idea and made it!!! The idea of my poor cat being stressed out for two weeks (while probably in pain and not feeling good during recovery) made me so sad. I have not had any issues with leaks as others had, but if I did, I would just go buy more, it is that great of a product. My cat had sutures in two places (from two different procedures a year apart) – on her front leg and near her butt – and she wasn't able to reach either place with the ProCollar. I purchased this collar for a new puppy I am training. I am very pleased to have the Tone/Vibration stimulation before going to shock. I have owned several collars over the years and purchased this to replace a Tri-Tronics XLS. The construction is lightweight, yet durable. Button placement is thoughtful and gives me quick control of the stimulation and beeper. I like the flexible configuration; even though, I had to call SportDog tech support to get it set the way I wanted. (they were very helpful and spent some time with me to understand how I wanted to use the collar before walking me through the setup) I would recommend this collar. It takes some setup, so be ready to read the manual or call for help.LongSage
The e collar portion works great, the audible location beacon is far from what I expected. It was money wasted. The point function is always on, so if the dog stops for 10 seconds it goes off. I called Sportdog and they told me that’s how it’s supposed to be. It’s too bad because as a located it would be great but it is always going off when the dog takes drinks, pauses, and cannot be worn unless full out hunting.Klassch
I am disappointed that the collar receiver (shock/vibrate) portion does not respond to the tone. I thought that there would be tone, vibrate and shock capability of the shock portion of this collar. The tone button only works the beeper which is useless if the beeper is not on the dog. Also upset that the locate function of the beeper does not have the capability to change the tone from the tone that is already in use on the dog. I would like the locate to be able to have a louder tone than the tone beeping on the dog that I already can't hear.johnostrum

Four months ago we picked up a 3 year old yellow lab at a shelter near Denver. The dog is lovable, has had some hunting experience, but was WILD when we got him. It was necessary to keep him tethered at all times, or he was GONE for 20 minutes pursuing some scent in the nearby forest (we back up to public land). I purchased this device in the hopes I could control him. To my surprise I discovered he must have had some time with a similar device. He instantly responded to the Tone/Vibration mode. When he would start to take off, one tap on that mode made him instantly come back. Only if he chased a deer on hikes did I have to "tingle" him a little. He would immediately drop the chase. I bought the sport dog 425x for my lab a few months ago & loved it but it recently fell off him while we were walking on a trail and I was never able to find it.
