This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. I bought the Dogtra 280C to use with my very active and agile 1 year old Toy Austrailian Sheppard for stopping unwanted behaviors like digging up my lawn and attacking the cat. I felt absolutely horrible even thinking about getting this collar at first, but it’s been an amazing training tool with our shelter pittie. She was chewing literally every single thing but her toys and getting into the trash can, as well as peeing all over the house despite us taking her outside frequently to potty. Kennel training and praising/treats helped some, but it just wasn’t enough and a trainer recommended a collar like this. I haven’t had to use the shock and don’t think I ever will need to use it. Just a quick beep or a vibrate on the lowest setting is enough to get her attention. I’ve seen so much improvement in a short time with this collar, and feel that soon we will be able to completely ditch the collar as she is learning and catching on to the rules very quickly. I like the bright red and black colors and it was really easy to put it together. The battery lasts much longer than I expected, which may also be due to the fact that we only use the collar as a last resort to get her attention. This collar is affordable and very effective. I have a large mountain cur who barks at night and annoys the neighbors. My only option was to put him up for adoption or somehow stop him from barking since he’s too big to keep inside. This collar stopped his barking very effectively. I really liked the quality of this training system. Over all the Pro system works as described. However, the collar attached to this system is longer than needed and shortening the strap is questionable given the contact wire that runs through the strap. Also, the strap would be more beneficial to be a snap locking system rather than a buckle. As my dog recognizes the purpose of the collar, she is not a fan, and likes to put up some resistance when having it placed on her. I did a lot of research on ecollars before deciding to purchase this one. I got this for a dog that is a rescue who has had some major behavior issues. I use the collar for training and he is excelling at everything. The only thing I would caution would not be specific to this ecollar but to all ecollars. Watch the fit. The band stretches after it's worn a few times and needs to be tightened on the dog's neck. Be sure to start out at the lowest level and only go up in slight increments until your dog reacts to the zap. This will prevent you from using more power than needed. I’m very satisfied with the R.A.P.T. 1400, the remote is very user friendly and I’m so happy to have a back of the hand setup. Battery life on the collar itself seems to be much improved over my previous models of collar. My one and only complaint is the collar itself is already starting to separate layers, fraying at the feed point and I’ve had to trim and tape twice in less than a month of use (my other collars took years for this to happen). Training is quite enjoyable with the ergonomics of the remote and the programmable quick button is definitely a nice touch. I lost a dog a while back and was resolved that someone had taken him and removed his tracking collar. He was found three months later, and he had unfortunately fell through the ice and downed near our house. It was a sad day when he was finally found in the water. He had on one of your collars on him still. He had been underwater for three months and I had already replaced his collar. I removed the collar from his neck and wondered if it was ruined. I took it home, put on a new collar and put it on my charger, and remarkably it took a charge and was working. I still use it as a back-up collar and to remember the loss of my best friend. The 435 X series is really nice and has a small remote control that fits into my hand (I am only 5'4). The XS series is stronger (for large dogs that can be stubborn) and was too much for my need… that's why I really wanted the X series. The 825 X is the same as the 425 X except is has a longer distance reach (1/2 mile) but the remote is a little big bigger. Works great…. make sure you read the manual for the different settings and understand that this is not a training tool per say but a corrective tool (meaning your dog has to know and understand commands BEFORE using it)…Do NOT use as a punitive tool. The nice thing is this item allows you to choose either tone, vibration, or static mode. 99% of the time I only need to use vibration for my dog to get his attention (he cN get sobfocused on a scent that he doesn't pay attention to my commands). He sometimes takes off after a rabbit/wild pig etc. and that's when I have to use the static mode to quickly get his attention away from his chase. I really like that it is waterproof (my dog swims into ponds and rivers)…some other brands claim to be waterproof but really mean to say water resistant! I have tried everything I knew with this dog, built a relationship with him, treats, toys, praise and I wasn’t able to find anything that would motivate him to actually follow the commands that I knew he knew. I was afraid to use a “shock collar” because I thought it was going to be cruel but it had been 5 months where this 3 year old pit was with me and there seemed to be no progress. I have always been apprehensive of shock collars, but my dog was back-tracking on her training. She has always behaved very well on a leash, just to forget that training when the leash comes off. I was so impressed with how long and how well this works. It controls my Gsd and CO dogs. The battery life is amazing on the collars! Mine are used daily and they are still charged a month later. You must select the function first before you send a command to the collar. The instructions are overly complex and confusing due to poor product design. This is the second training collar I purchased since August. I bought an Oxford and that didn't last. I liked some of the Oxford features over this EasyPet Collar. This collar system is better made and I expect will last longer. While I like the multiple levels of each of the sound, vibration, and shock getting to the setting in a hurry doesn't happen. I have two pit bull mixes. The sound, any level, works for one of the dogs, but not the other. I have moved to the vibration correction for him. This works well as does the shock. He returns to me with both of these. I do suggest putting a sensor on the remote as when the dog is returning after being corrected and cannot see the trainer (as he was deep in the woods) perhaps a sound on the remote would aid the dog's quicker return. I'm suggesting this as he came out of the woods at a different point than where I was. My second suggestion is making the recharging plug on the collar easier to insert. The plug seems flimsy and is hard to secure on it. Since it is so important for the plug to be in to maintain the waterproof feature it should be easier to put in. Four months ago we picked up a 3 year old yellow lab at a shelter near Denver. The dog is lovable, has had some hunting experience, but was WILD when we got him. It was necessary to keep him tethered at all times, or he was GONE for 20 minutes pursuing some scent in the nearby forest (we back up to public land). I purchased this device in the hopes I could control him. To my surprise I discovered he must have had some time with a similar device. He instantly responded to the Tone/Vibration mode. When he would start to take off, one tap on that mode made him instantly come back. Only if he chased a deer on hikes did I have to "tingle" him a little. He would immediately drop the chase. I bought the sport dog 425x for my lab a few months ago & loved it but it recently fell off him while we were walking on a trail and I was never able to find it. Overall the collar works great. My dogs stay in the yard now and the dogs understand that when it beeps to come back. It’s really nice to be able to adjust the distance so if you want to shrink the distance or expand it you easily could. I have an acre and a half and it easily covers the whole property with the setting still below the 100 range. So I’d assume you may be able to do 5 acres. The only issue is occasionally it acts like it’s super far away like there is a signal blocking the transponder, so it’d beep at the dog but it only happened with one dog so it could be a coincidence. I use my collar almost every day on one dog and it’s keeps all the dogs in the yard. I’d say this collar is a great investment without having to dig a trench in your yard to bury a wire.Brooke O.

Bought this last fall for upland hunting and general training for my GSP. Worked amazing. I had it in sub zero temps in the dakotas pheasant hunting and got it soaking wet duck hunting, functioned flawlessly. I very seldom have to shock him now, he responds to the vibrate function. I bought this after researching for several months. I have a buy once cry once mentality and am glad I paid a little extra. I love the digital reading so I know exactly what level of stimulation I am giving him. I actually tried it out on myself before I put it on my dog. I really couldn't feel anything until I got to level 20. My dog started acknowledging it at level 30, and that is where it has stayed. I haven't ever needed any more than that. Range is good, I do not like the settings for the shock control are not able to be locked! You can set it on setting 30 and put transmitter in pocket. When you remove it from pocket it maybe on 50! You also have to turn transmitter on and off! Other units do not use power unless control buttons are pressed!Jim
This product was exactly as described. The length of the two collars are long enough to be worn on a smaller or a larger dog. I have two boxers and have plenty of collar length so I feel that they would fit a very large dog. The control works well and is easy to manipulate. I can easily use the vibrate and shock buttons. The only "oops" thing that could happen is hitting the control shut off and shock button at the same time. The control shut off button is on one side of the unit and the shock buttons are on the opposite side. So when I am holding the control unit in one hand to shut it off, I have to be careful not to push the shock button in response to the pressure I am putting on the shut off button. Therefore I remove the collars before I shut the unit off. I am very happy with this product.boxer mum
