Welcome to
Almost Home Dachshund Rescue
Society (AHDRS). Thanks for stopping by!
We are a network of independent rescue volunteers who
work together to rescue abandoned, abused, and/or
unwanted dachshunds. We provide medical and behavioral
care for them and place them in loving and appropriate
homes. AHDRS is a nonprofit organization, so all
contributions are tax-deductible. To learn more about
AHDRS, click here.
Almost Home Dachshund
Rescue Society is not affiliated with any other rescue
group, transport service or pet-related business using
"Almost Home" in its name. A number of all-breed
rescue groups, founded after the formation of AHDRS,
now use "Almost Home" in their names, and some of
their Web site addresses are similar to ours. Other
businesses have also formed since that time using
“Almost Home” in their names and web addresses. AHDRS
is an independent national dachshund rescue
organization founded in 2001 and is comprised entirely
of volunteers dedicated to fostering and fundraising
to help our beloved breed.

RAFFLES FOR OUR NEEDY DOGS
Over the next few months, we are posting a number of great raffles to help
earn funds to care for a lot of very needy dogs we are trying to help.
=== Current Raffles ===

Whether a rescuer, an adopter, or just a dachshund aficionado, you’ll want
this wall hanging, and you’ll be helping the best friend of many dachshunds
when you participate in this raffle. (Ends August 1.) |

Meet
Jim and Leslie Ingram of North Carolina, who have rescued hundreds of dachshunds
since joining AHDRS not long after the organization was founded. If you live
anywhere near them, you might know Jim as Rescue Santa or as the guy who, armed
with his trusty pooper scooper, cleans up your yard. Or maybe you've met Jim and
Leslie at one of the adoption events they do twice a month, or at the annual
North Carolina Wiener Roast that they help organize every year. If you haven't
met them, click here
and get to know two of our most active rescuers! |

Mary Ann, recently rescued from a lifetime in a puppy
mill, has enormous physical and emotional wounds. Read her story

Almost Home frequently receives donations with a note from the donor saying that the contribution is in memory of a beloved dog who has passed over Rainbow Bridge. We have decided to provide a way to honor the pets who have touched our lives on our web site. If you would like to memorialize a pet on the Dachshund Memorial Page, click
